who's gotten good results from jump roping? if so, where did you notice a change? thanks! :)
I added jumping rope to my regular work out schedule and i have noticed a huge difference in endurance and body shape. It seems to have really elevated my fat burning at the end of an intense work out. ( Side note, I use a speed rope, helps with coordination )
I recently started jump-roping at home as a workout warm-up. It feels great, and 15 minutes later I'm usually hot, sweaty and ready for my exercises. It's basically the equivalent of using a treadmill at the gym prior to using the weight machines (which I do too). Highly recommended!
I jumped rope for the first time on Wed. I did an interval training session after lifting weights. It knocked me out. Wonderful. I Highly recommend it. (I got the speed rope too.)
I have a bum knee from running. I can't run anymore. I picked up jump roping and I wish I would have done it sooner. I use a weighted one and jump rope for an hour. It took a few weeks to build up to it. I can do it inside and don't have to fight the weather or go to a gym.
It also improved my circulation. I don't have cold feet or hands anymore.

an hour??? im dead after about 3 minutes!!! how did you build up to that?
Well, it was a lot of work. I just kept adding songs and when I was tired I would just hop or dance. Eventually, I could do an hour. I started out with one song, then two, then 5 etc.. I pushed the limit. What is nice is that songs are different lengths, so I shuffle them. It keeps a variety. Typically if you count songs then you get time estimate. I count up to 20 songs (which isn't that many) 20 songs sounds like a lot less time then 1 hour. Plus most of the time 1 hour will be over within 16-17 songs and then you can just stop. Mind games I guess.
I made a horrific discover today. I feel really fit and thin, but I got on the scale for the 1st time in a month and I have gained 5 lbs !!! I also added a variety of crunches and bulit up to 30 push ups. I take it is probably muscle weight. My arms and legs are getting really toned. My stomach is slowly getting there.
Wow! When I jump rope, I am lucky I count to 30 before my feet get tangled up in the rope. Funny how I could jump for forever when I was 12!! I have been jumping rope in between my weight lifting sets. I do one set, then jump for a minute and then do another set. Do you think that is ok? It really gets my heart rate up.
thats brilliant!!! thanks, ill give that a go, starting in the morning!!! im really looking forward to it now!!!
yeah, it probably it muscle weight, well done, keep up the good work!!

Thank you. It worked for me. How did it go?
I forgot to mention. You will discover veins you never knew you had. For the first 1 mth- mth and half I swear I could feel the blood pumping. I had really poor circulation. It felt like there were bugs crawling inside my veins lol. It goes away. I had a few spider veins and a varicose vein. I swear they were getting worse, but then one day they just almost went away completely. I guess all the annoying itchy bugs were repairs going on. It is quite amazing. I love not being as cold as I used to be.
I saw improvements in my cardiovascular fitness w/ jumping rope. Since my diet's not clean & I tend to go on binge/restrict cycles, I haven't lost any weight or body fat %.
If I'm going for a straightforward cardio workout, I'll alternate 40 seconds jumping w/ 20 seconds active rest (marching in place, step touches, etc). If I'm looking to do higher-intensity work, I'll usually do rounds of 100 rope turns, 10 push-ups, 10 squats, & 10 burpees.
Definitely good stuff!
i bought a jumprope and it collected dust because i am uncoordinated... i used to jump rope in kick boxing and made it through, but grace was not part of it...
my question is have any of yall ever used those electronic jump ropes that don't have a rope... just a handle?
saw them in a magazine...
