June 10 pound Weight Loss Challenge Continued...Lets try for another 10 in July:)
Hi my name is Jodi. I started a June 10 pound weight loss challenge and would like it to continue into July.
My weight loss journey began May, 2009 and so far I have lost 23 lbs. All due to healthy eating and exercise. Having friends to share your triumphs with and support for those unsuccessful times..has to be one of the best weight loss motivators there is. You never feel alone, because there are others like yourself out there.
So lets get together and become a TEAM to lose 10 pounds in July:)
All you have to do is join and weigh in every Monday. Then at the end of July I will post all the ending weight stats:) Come by everyday with your tips and hints for others or just let us know what is on your mind.

Jodi- I am still at 130. Maybe the TEAM can help me with my small dilemma. I went in to for an abdominal muscle repair surgery last Friday due to carrying the twin 11 years ago. With the doctor order, I am not able to exercise like I used to, mainly just walk slowly around the house and with taking lots of pain medication, I have to eat more so do I need to eat the same amount of calories like before the surgery? I was hoping to lose weight after the surgery because I eat less but if I don't exercise, it's not going to help.
Maybe this is why I didn't lose the weight this week.

29/6/09 160lb
5/7/09 155lb
Am very pleased! Have been working out every day this week with weights, thai kick and a ten mile bike ride across country. Have also stuck to 1200 calories a day. After this week (if i make it that long) i will increase calories to 1500.
Vievien - i think you should concentrate on giving your body time to recover from an operation. Follow the doctors advice.
july 1 201
july 6 201 no change
july 16 198 thats 3 pounds
july 26 195 well i didn't make 10 pound but i took off another 6
I am 219 today thanks to the new scale and not feeling well over the weekend. I will be leaving town for the week tomorrow to go camping but I made sure to have plenty of veggies and fruit and not much junk so I should be good and I will walk. Today I have been busy getting ready so no time for other eexercise. Have a great week everyone.

Vie don't even worry about your weight and dieting you need your strength to heal. Take a few days relax get better then you can concentrate on the weight loss again. Sometimes after surgery their is fluid retention. Keep eating healthy and take care hope you feel better soon:)
Well even though I had a bad week I still lost a lb when I was sure I would gain so I am happy

Vie,
I am a registered nurse and in order to heal well from your surgical repair, you need to rest and eat well. Eating well means drinking tons of water to help your body rid the cellular garbage your body is clearing away from the surgical site of healing, eating lots of fresh vegetables and fruits, whole grains in moderation, and plenty of protein! Protein is the buidling block of muscle tissue and you must have it to heal well and in a timely manner. You may not want to hear this, but now is not the time to focus on weight loss. However, you can (and should) maintain your weight by eating right and starting to incorporate gentle walking (short distances at first).Once you've healed completely you can get right back to your weight loss goals. If you rush back into it too early you could tear the muscles again and set yourself back for a long time.
I, too, had torn my rectus abdominus muscle during childbirth with my first child (a three inch wide/ seven inch long tear!) and had to have it repaired many years later. For me, I was told a full six weeks before anything vigorous (that included vacuuming and mopping as these use your stomach muscles). Hang in there and focus on healing and making your eating the best it can be. Walking will help you, too. No arm weights/exercises either, as these cause contraction of the abdominal muscles. You can also catch up on some reading about health topics and spend more time with your family during this time. See, there's always positives to be found!
Best of healing!!
Becky
