Karl Lagerfelds views on 'normal' women...

Yet another 'expert' telling us 'fat mummies' that we're not normal- the very-skinny models he uses are the norm??!!
((sigh))![]()
Eh. Who cares what Karl Lagerfeld thinks? The article states that he "has subjected himself to a rigorous slimming schedule", which indicates to me that he has warped body image issues. Reminds me of an absurd old, lemon-sucking, anorexic, egomaniacal gay man that lived down the street from my dad... except that R.W. was funny. Dismiss Lagerfeld's holier-than-thou opinion with extreme prejudice as he dismisses the world's "normal women" majority, who probably don't buy his crap anyway.

I just thought it was funny that this eccentric looking fashion 'expert' calls us 'normal' women the abnormal ones!!
As for buying his stuff- even if we could fit ito it, what 'normal' woman could afford it! LOL!
I have about as much appreciation for what a fashion designer considers "desirable" or "artistic", as I do about what TV networks consider "entertainment" or "news."
Half of what designers parade on a runway, even if I could fit into it, is stuff you couldn't pay me to wear on Halloween.

True enough. Here is an introduction to the glorious Karl Lagerfeld Diet: http://www.everydiet.org/diet/karl-lagerfeld- diet
Sounds healthy, especially for a grown man ![]()
This person should be ashamed of himself. He obviously got problems of his own and he can't find any other way dealing with them than to attack "normal" women. Well, he's 71 and hopefully will die very soon. Maybe even of malnutrition. But hey, at least he wasn't fat.
Don't even listen to anything "fashion people" says. They are literally living in a world of their own, full of illusion, photoshop and unhealthy (both physically and mentally) beings.
Kudos to Brigitte magazine for admitting that they've had to 'fatten up' their models for years to make them look healthier. And for deciding to use 'normal sized' models in their mag.
Kiss our collective fat asses, Mr. Lagerfeld.

Yay for the magazine! The fashion industry has promoted unhealthy behaviours for far too long. It is sad thouh that this old bitter man's perceptions are so skewed that a healthy, size 6-8 woman with boobs and booty is round, jealous and undersireable.
I did a tiny bit of modeling when I weighed 135. I had a six pack, toned legs probably should have looked into fitness modeling. I was told that I would need to be about 115, or 20 lbs smaller to do bikini. I just laughed. I Don't have a tiny frame. That would be a miserable process, trying to shrink down that far. I am fine with just looking hot on the beach and not having a lolli-pop head.
Karl Lagerfeld can kiss my big fat fannie.
curvy is the norm, he needs to open is eyes, or does he think 90% ( I made up that statistic) are obese.
blah. .
The fashion industry is evil..
" 'No one wants to see curvy women,' he was quoted as saying on the website of news magazine Focus."
My husband would beg to differ.
Anyway, the thing that I really don't get is how these types try to perpetuate a myth that any woman who doesn't identify with the twig-like models is fat and lazy. The vast majority of women, even those who are already quite fit or slim, will never look like a model, unless they:
- have a naturally small/narrow frame
- are clinically underweight
- are much taller than average
Runway models are 5'8" or taller (most are 5'9" or 5'10"), while the average height of a US woman is 5'4". A typical model's weight is 108-125 lbs, which would give a 5'8" woman a BMI of 16.4 - 19. A healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 25.
*Facepalm*

From that link: "The diet involves substituting meals with a protein supplement designed by Dr. Houdret for at least one meal each day. Flavors include chocolate, fish soup, egg based custard, and ham & cheese omelet."
Okay, really? Fish soup flavored protein supplements? As a substitute for a meal? no wonder Mr. Lagerfeld is a complete jerk. I would be too if I had to eat that. ;)
eh- just look at him... he looks 90 years older than he should and just ick
I was once on a very similar diet that I had designed from anorexic diets I'd come across on the internet. My goal? Doesn't matter. I was anorexic and unhealthy. When you get down that small, it's proven that odd things start happening to the brain. The body starts shutting down and "voices" can and will appear in your head.
Meaning...
He's crazy.

OMFG, I think I almost blew my top reading this article (was on OP's article page).
Serves all them fat, round lazy dogs right! Who wants to see curvy dogs on a cat(dog?) walk anyway?
I bet they'd like the fish soup flavoured protein supplement.
Hmm...
I'm all in favor of living how one pleases, but he had a perfectly fair point; being overweight is not considered attractive by the general population (much less the fashion industry), so it doesn't make sense that overweight people would attempt to participate in a profession that is inherently vain.
Those models probably put maintaining their looks above just about everything in their life, that's not easy to do. In many things, you can't have the best of both worlds. An overweight person should not feel offended if they can't become a competitive sprinter without getting in shape, either.
That's just the industry and how it is. There are better things to set one's sights on. And there's certainly no need to go out of your way to find things offensive. Everyone will have their opinion, some people's opinions will not be pleasant. There's plenty of things I could say about myself that would cause most CC users to judge me in the exact same way Karl Lagerfeld judges overweight women. So what? Who wants to be normal anyway?
