KASHI appreciation...!!!
I LOVE KASHI PRODUCTS!! just a little rant....
okay, so im a barista, and during this time of day (plus its sunny!) i make MILKSHAKE after MILKSHAKE after tasty delicious tempting MILKSHAKE. so after making about 15 damn milkshakes... im killing myself trying not to drink the leftovers. mind you, milkshakes are... vanilla ice cream, whole milk, flavor (basically straight corn syrup), and whip cream to top if off (we make homemade whip cream also... which is heavy whipping cream, and 8 pumps of more syrup) yikes!! so thats a big NO for my diet... not to mention i am in the process of giving up dairy products.
So after the milkshake rush and after seeing a dozen people throughly enjoy themselves indulging in a 1000 calorie treat... i sit down, hungry, hot, and tempted. Then i realized i had Kashi GoLean Shake mix!!!
I made myself a shake with the mix, with just a cup of ice, and then a little soy and rice milk!! sooo goood plus it has 7 grams of fiber and 29 grams of protein. and bam, the cravings gone. granted, it doesnt taste half as good as a real shake... but im willing to sacrifice that for a sweet ass.
so just a little rant about how in love i am with kashi products.
anybody else feel me on this?
I've bugged my grocery so much about Kashi GoLean Crunch cereal, they finally gave it more shelf space just to keep some there. We branched out into the GoLean Cereal. It's good too, but the Crunch goes better with my yogurt!
i can totally relate to you vandi!
I work as a barista as well, and the new mint mocha chip frapp is my ultimate weakness. And guess what EVERYONE orders when I'm working the lunch rush? you got it, those evil things in all their 590 calorie glory.
I'll have to try these Kashi mixes you mentioned :) they sound worth it!
I add a scoop of the vanilla protein scoop mix to my oatmeal in the morning along with some soymilk :) yummm
OMG I can totally relate! I like to try new products and stuff but the reason I dig Kashi so much is that they excel in every category of foods they make.
Cereals: Love the GL, 7 Whole grain puffs(great for bulking up cereal bowls with low calories), Honey Sunshine and as a treat their Good Friends Cinna crunch.
Crackers and Cookies: Love the mediteranean bruschetta and roasted veg crackers (not overly salty) and love their Oatmeal cookies (for a treat) also the cherry choc bars, trail mix bars (keeps me very satisfied versus sugary alternatives) honey almond and even the new cereal bars (although ive only tried the blackberry)
Frozen: Cilantro shrimp and mango and black beans meals are really good and are a great topping for my cold salads. Mediteranean pizzas are really yummy too.
Finally the Crunch bars in choc pretzel and cinna coffee cake are really yummy!
Also I dont have to worry about HFCS and trans fat, and even though some of the calories may be high there is always a decent amount of fiber and whole grains.
Anyone try the sandwich pockets yet? Heard they were small but good. I also think I will try the shakes now to make a psuedo milkshake like you mentioned Vandijb
[I just wish they were a little cheaper. I buy them in bulk with Amazon Subscribe & Save and I still can't get the price per bar below $1...]
I will definitely have to try those milkshakes! I have complete faith that Kashi wouldn't give me something that tastes like chemicals...
I almost always have 2 of the chewy Trail mix granola bars for breakfast - the serving size is perfect for my weight goals, they taste wholesome and not too sweet, and they stay with me for hours. LOVE KAshi!
yes! haha i love that so many people can appreciate kashi.
stardust: the best snack EVERRRR is the roasted veg crackers with laughing cow cheese singles!! sooo good!!! the laughing cow cheese wedges are only 30 calories a pop too! you should try it.
too bad i recently gave up dairy :( no more for me
I'm with all of you!
I've been getting the Kashi crunchy granola bars for a while now, but recently they went up to $4.50 a box (for 6 packs-12bars)! So I grabbed the Nature Valley ones at half the price. They tasted good, but that's because they have twice the sugar and fat of Kashi bars! They're really cookies! I'm going back to Kashi!
I also love, love, love Kashi heart-to-heart cereal. It's the best nutrient profile for a less calorie-dense cereal.
