Kashi cereal-- official thread!

Quote  |  Reply
Here are my reviews of several Kashi cereals.

Kashi GoLean- 140 calories per cup-Not very sweet, but nice earthy texture from fiber twigs, soy crisps, and puffed wild rice.

Kashi GoLean Crunch- 200 calories per cup- tastes sinfully like granola! A bit too crunchy on its own though- not for weak-toothd people!

Kashi 7 Whole Grain Puffs- 70 calories per cup-like a lighter, more protein-packed, lower-calorie bowl of Rice Krispies made with wild rice.

Kashi Heart to Heart- 110 calories per 3/4 cup-Yummy! Nice, sweet, Cheerio-esque (but more "hearty") bowl of heart and O shapes.

Post your Kashi reviews here!

ive always found kashi cereals to be very good. very fiberous and high in protien, they get my seal of aproval.

i used to eat thier waffles alot.
I love the kashi heart to heart.
thier hot cereal is very good too, the truly vanilla brand has more than 9 grams of protien, and a ton of fiber.
I choose Kashi Golean for the extra fiber and protein.  It makes a great start or ending to the day if you need that extra boost.
I don't like Kashi cereal at all because I live in Canada and, oddly, the calories are much higher than the ones you've listed.
How many sugars do the Kashi oatmeals have?
You're right about the higher calories in Canada. I just checked my box of GoLEAN and it's 200 cal per cup of cereal.

I eat it almost every morning, but I mix it with some All-Bran.
1/2 cup of Kashi GoLEAN and a 1/4 cup of All-Bran with 1/2 cup of skim milk.
I e-mailed kashi and asked whats up with the diffrent amount of calories:

Thank you for contacting us on-line. We appreciate your interest in our company.

Fibre in Kashi* Go lean is sourced from soy bean fibre, wheat bran fibre, corn bran fibre and oat hull fibre. Although corn bran fibre and oat hull fibre are considered to be sources of fibre in other countries, at this time they are not included on Health Canada's list of fibre sources. We have recognized this inconsistency and have made the necessary corrections to our packaging. Due to this change in fibre calculations, the number of calories have also had to be recalculated, hence the difference you have noticed.

We do apologize for any confusion that this may have caused and we appreciate the time you have taken to share your inquiry.

Thank you once again for taking the time to e-mail us.

Sincerely,

I like Kashi Heart to Heart; it's extremely low cal, too!

My personal favorite is Cinna Raisin Crunch, though; it tastes awesome and I love crunchy cereal. ^^;;
i have the kashi 7 whole grain honey puffs and it says are there are 120 calories per cup.  i was wondering if there are regular whole grain puffs which would explain the calorie difference from marconi685's post. ?? annnd, if that is so, what in it would create the huge jump in numbers?? thanks :]
I love the Heart to Heart Oat Flakes and Wild Blueberry Clusters.  I think it is fairly new but my kids don't like it which is means it lasts longer for me.
Breaking news- just tried Kashi Vive with probiotics, broccoli extract, etc. Sooo delicious, and you get 1 + 1/4 cup of cereal for 170 calories (so same number of cals as golean, oz. for oz.!) yeah!

kashi, or fiber one?

kashi has loads of protein, which i never noticed before.  i think i'll buy some tonight, but i know it'll cost me $4.50 for a 12 oz box.  that's my local grocery store, for you.  it sounds like a fun experience, though.  i used to LOVE fiber one, until the box went empty; i'd tell all my friends i was eating rabbit food, and they believed me! lol.

Kashi GoLean really has 200 calories per cup, and GoLean Crunch, 230! (Unless you believe the "fiber calories don't count' crap, which I don't). Anyways, same products, exact same ingredients... http://kashi.ca/en/ourfoods.htm.

Edit: I apologize - I didn't realise someone already mentioned it!
i love fibre one and kashi...love go lean crunch!

if you go to the website you can get a free sample of granola. just letting you all know.

Yeah!  I put in an order for that two weeks ago, but I haven't received it in the mail yet, nor have I been able to track it online.  Is anybody else having this problem?

I have emailed Kashi several times to ask them about their cereal boxes that state that product is "distributed" by Kashi in CA but it does not say where the product is pruduced.  I asked what country the cereals are produced and they refuse to respond.  Seems odd since it is an easy question to answer.

When I printed out the page before sending the email which was on their form, it printed: www. kelloggs.com so I guess means Kashi is owned by Kelloggs.

the go lean crunch hurts my teeth even though I like the taste.

I mix the go lean with fiber one - 1/4 cup each - and put in my yogurt for breakfast every morning.

I liked the oatmeal too.

Want to try heart to heart now!

I really like Kashi's Heart to Heart, and used to really like the GoLean Honey Almond Flax variety (but now it is too sweet for me!).  The GoLean is okay, but I don't like the puffed cereal and just go for the twigs XD

I don't like their frozen foods though - so little for $5!  I might as well just prepare my own meal.
