Kashi Chewy Granola Bars

Quote  |  Reply

I quite love them.... I had one just before bed last night and another one as part of my breakfast.

They seem reasonably healthy to me.... the peanut and almond one is only 5g of sugar (although it tastes much sweeter than that).... and 7 g of protein, 4 g of fiber and 5g of fat (usually at least half is healthy fats i think!)

got a reasonable balance of healthy fats / carbs / protein

and they are all natural.... sooo any cons to it?? what am i missing here? otherwise why arent these things flying off the shelves :P

I love them.  Especially the honey almond flax; I love that they're lower in sugar than most granola bars, plus they have whole almonds in them...yum!

I eat them as my mid-morning snack daily... so I hope no one comes up with an earth shattering reason why they're bad for me.

The one thing I can't figure out, is why do they call then "chewy", cause they SOOOO aren't.

I love them too and I can't believe they have only 5-6g of sugar! Honey almond flax is the best one.

Kashi brand foods are great! They are all natural, no processed sugars, generally 7-different whole grains in each one and have a good balance of high fiber carbs, protein, and healthy fats.

Go to Kashi.com to see all of their products and they also really promote the "whole foods" diet approach and healthy lifestyle.

They make crunchy and chewy granola bars and they also have a whole line of foods called "Go Lean" that are specifically designed to be calorie controlled and higher in protein and fiber.

Kashi "Go Lean" cereal is my absolute favorite! I eat it with Unstweetened Almond Breeze. For a whole cup it's only 130 cals with tons of fiber and extra protein.

I'm a Kashi freak!

Now I know why they might not be flying off the shelves for me now....

I binge on them.... so maybe I need to avoid those as well :(

I ate two last night.

And four just right now.

(along with a billion other sweets)

Urgh.

The reason they don't fly off the shelves for me is that they are $4/box instead of <$2/box for the nature valley trail mix ones that I like and manage not to have any HF/MCS.  The Kashi ones are healthier, but I don't eat granola bars that often anyway, so it's not a big issue for me.

I'm actually kind of glad the selection of Kashi products is rather limited in Canada, otherwise I would be too tempted to spend ridiculous amounts of money on them...

Because they also have "crunchy" granola bars, which are make the "chewy" ones seem very chewy.
