Kashi GoLean cereal

Quote  |  Reply
So after hearing everyone on these boards rave about Kashi GoLean cereal, I finally decided to plunk down the extra money for some.

What is wrong with you people!?  It tastes like stale cardboard!  I forced myself to eat a bowl of it (thinking about how healthy I was being), and then was hungry again an hour later.

In short, it was disgusting.  Does anyone agree with me?  (I don't remember what exact flavor I got--all I know is that it has "fiber twigs" in it.  I should have known better than to eat fiber twigs!)

I also don't quite like it...

But, each to his own I guess!
i like it with honey & strawberries or bananas. beyond that, it doesn't do much for me anymore. i initially thought it was healthier than it actually is. now i stick with fiber one (plain fiber twigs, so you'll hate it) for my healthy cereal fix.
it is not sweet:) it is not candy and you want extra fiber. Why don't you add fruit so it will taste better. I suggest some blueberries and strawberries. You will like it that way.
There are several different kinds of this cereal....I like the Go Lean Crunch...the Crunch makes all the difference.

Fruit might help, but the texture was what bothered me.  I might try to finish off this box, but it's definitely not worth the money for me!
The Kashi one with the dehydrated strawberries IS CANDY.

I have the one with fiber twigs - that's the "Extreme" cereal - high protein, high fiber, low calorie, low fat - the description on the box is Fiber twigs, protein puffs and honey grahams.  I don't think Kashi even pretends that it's delicious.  I didn't mind it with bananas and soy milk, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Funny thing is, I thought the same thing the first time I ate it.  However, I forced myself to finish the box and I enentually started to like it.  But I add a half a sliced bannana to it.  Do what I do and find like 3 health cereals that you don't mind and mix them up so your not eating the same thing every morning
I totally agree!  That stuff tastes like cardboard!  I don't get what all the rave is about.  Those twigs are nasty.

Uck I agree, the regular Go Lean stuff is GROSS.

Some other Kashi cereals, however, are quite delicious, like Go Lean Crunch and Heart to Heart Honey Toasted Oat.
LOL bernasha  I agree with you that a lot of 'healthy' stuff out there taste like cardboard! (um and yeah, I had cardboard before... by accident :p )

But in regard to Kashi, I agree with myruf. Most stuff are yuck, but the Go Lean Crunch (with the pic of blueberry in the front even though it doesn't  come with blueberries) is pretty good. I like the crunchiness and it is a tad sweet. I usually mix it with fresh fruit and FFCC with my 2% milk, or, since KGLC clusters can get pretty big, I bagged them in ziploc and brought with me as snack.

I tried kashi cookies, and um... yuck :p
This is just me, but I looked at and elected not to buy a Kashi ceral today---just because I like mine really well and it's only 110 per cup vs. the 190 this Kashi had---but I guess I am glad. ( :

I almost asked this in another cereal post--what people thought about it and I chickened out, but then boom--here's this.

I love the (generic) Special K with strawberries I found (110) with vanilla light soy milk, and I also like sugar free (laugh at the irony) brown sugar and cinnamon oatmeal (100).

Thanks for the heads up and all the info!
to be honest, i love it. i actually actievly like it! but it might be an aquired taste kinda thing, i've eaten a lot over the months/years

I, too, think it is disgusting! My sister LOVES it, and even tho it is very high in sugar and calories, her love made my try it. YUCK!

If you want some good tasting healthy, low cal cereal, try healthy promise flavors at your Stop and SHop. MUCH more delicious!
GoLean doesn't taste very good, but it's the healthiest cereal that I can find, with the highest protein.

Try GoLean Crunch- it tastes much better!
goloean tastes amazing with a dash of cinnamon and vanilla extract added into my soy milk.

kinda like cinnamon toast crunch without all the unhealthy guilt ;]
I LOVE it. The golean crunch is definitely the best, but it's so addictive I can't buy it.  Fruit makes all the difference in the regular golean cereal. I like blueberries in mine. I have a hard time getting enough protein, so this stuff is a godsend for my breakfasts.

But then, I've always preferred healthier tasting cereals... grape nuts, plain cheerios, etc
I agree. I think regular GoLean is pretty bad too though I still buy it but I normally just use it in my yogurts and stuff for some added crunch. Try Fiber One Honey Clusters instead, it rocks my world.
Yeah, sure it's healthy... but God, it tastes bad and have you looked at the serving sizes?!? It's like ONE THIRD of a CUP! Really?! I like to eat food, not sample it! I agree that it tastes bad and it is expensive. I'd rather have a cup of some cereal that's not filled with "fiber twigs" and just take a fiber suppliment!

Don't waste money on it. Serving sizes are tiny and it tastes bad!
Umm...The serving size on GoLean is 1 cup. There's a reduced calorie size of 3/4 cup. What are you referring to?

I've found my cereal solution:  Reeses Peanut Butter cereal.  That stuff is freakin' amazing and it gets an "A" on the CC analysis.  Only 120 calories, and did I mention there are no fiber twigs?  :)
