whats the health take on the chicken kebabs from the local kebab shops? are they usually full of fat?

the meat itself i think is reasonably lean, its the wrap, the sauces and the cheese that get you! mmm kebabs

what about the salads? are they fresh or is the dampness oil its been kept in?

as far as i know, you dont keep salad in oil. It'll be water.

where is local? kebabs can be anything from chunks of meat (usually chicken thighs - just ask) to chopped, seasoned, formed meat, which can be very high fat. also, the salads vary widely. it's easy to tell if it's oil, because lettuce, cabbage, etc would be rendered limp and translucent. If you're talking about Israeli salad, or the kind of topping that includes diced onion, tomato and cucumber, that's nearly-zero-calorie super healthy stuff.

I've even had deep-fried falafel on salad with small amounts of hummus (no bread, no dressing) on diets and not skipped a beat. as long as you avoid the white flour, most middle eastern food is pretty healthy.

BTW - if that's a current image of you, Lucas, please don't obsess about your calories!

local is in a turkish run shop in a small town in Norfolk, England

they do the chicken in chunks (grilled on a chargriller), possibly breast (well i think it is), then put in a white pitta and the salad is stuff like tomato, lettuce, cucumber and pepper, but i think the onion might be soaked in something... or that could just be me lol. Anyway the bottom of the pitta always gets damp and soggy, is this from fat?

Odd, all of the kebab shops in Italy sell the kebabs with lamb.  They have a huge piece of lamb on this this that turns and they shave it off with a knife...I've never seen chicken kebabs.

they're different. the formed meat kebabs are spicy and v. diff than the chunks of chicken we see often at street fairs here on the West coast.

Lucas: cucumber and onion weep a lot of water. you're probably seeing that turn the pita soggy. with your physique, I'd say it's a pretty balanced lunch!

You could even add a little tzatziki or tahini sauce and be fine. and YUM.

For someone trying to slim down, I'd avoid the pita. White flour is my worst enemy :)
