Has anyone read Kevin Trudeau's new book, "The Weight-Loss Cure They Don't Want You to Know About?" and if so, what is your opinion of it? I haven't seen or read it and don't know what the big secret is. Does anyone else? Does anyone have any first-hand experience from the book?
quack.. quack.. quack...
totally unsubstantiated claims, poor science... moneymaker...

That guy was featured on 20/20 for what a lying and dishonest fool he is. I would NOT trust that guy in a million years. He has made a ridiculous sum of money taking people for fools. Everytime I see his books in stores, I just want to dump them in the garbage.
Agreed. Nothing of worth here.
Think about it. Weight-loss programs rake in the money. Obesity is now the number one preventable risk factor, costing businesses and insurance companies billions of dollars. Why would anyone "hide" a special weight loss plan?
Calories in<calories out=weight loss.
Trudeau...what a loser. If you really want a book that tells you secrets of the food industry, just read "Fast Food Nation." That may help you with weight loss more than any quack book. At least the facts are accurate.

I'm amazed that he's still around, given the multimillion dollar fine he had to pay to the FTC for false advertising a few years ago.

I own his book and think it's worth the read. His claim is that natural cures exist but private industry, pharmaceuticals, government, etc... worth the read if for no other reason than considering another viewpoint.

I had to read "Fast Food Nation" for a class I took last semester and I cannot agree more. What a phenomenol book! Must read for sure! Have you seen the movie version that came out in November? It wasn't released where I live, so I've never seen it.

I whole-heartedly agree with Fast Food Nation, and would add Pollan's Omnivore's Dilemma to the list of books that will change the way you look at food and what is pushed as "food" by the industry.
As for Trueau, by the time he was fined $2mil, he had already been convicted of larceny for depositing false checks and supplying false information to receive credit cards, and had headed a national MLM scheme selling dietary supplements (which are conveniently loosely-regulated; I'm collecting more on this topic for an article at TheLifeLedger). It wasn't the $2mil fine that was the most impressive part of the FTC's decision - it was the order that Kevin could never again produce or take part in advertising of any sort related to disease or health benefits products:
"A Federal Trade Commission settlement with Kevin Trudeau ? a prolific marketer who has either appeared in or produced hundreds of infomercials ? broadly bans him from appearing in, producing, or disseminating future infomercials that advertise any type of product, service, or program to the public, except for truthful infomercials for informational publications. In addition, Trudeau cannot make disease or health benefits claims for any type of product, service, or program in any advertising, including print, radio, Internet, television, and direct mail solicitations, regardless of the format and duration. "
This guy has no medical training (a fact which he spins) and has repeatedly been fined or convicted for illegal and unlawful acts related to lying. He wrote a book about natural remedies only after the FTC's decision, which conveniently exercised a loophole for "infommercials for informational publications" (which, arguably, doesn't even cover his book). Why would someone willingly listen to a liar? I suppose people want to believe in a conspiracy theory, and want to believe in the corruption of Big Business(tm).
Not to say, of course, that someone should blindly accept one argument over another - arguably, there *is* corruption in the patent medicine industry. I simply don't accept information from non-credible sources, and don't find a convicted felon and MLM schemer to be a credible source.

You know! The person asked if anyone had info on the weight loss cure book and all of you had big words on bashing it without ever offering up details. I believe you guys are fakes as much as trudaue. Either answer the persons question or just keep you opinions to yourself. Without facts your words are worthless.
silverjade27, I think someones motive and character are deeply connected into what they write (if writing non-fiction, of course). I don't care if the advice is copied from Oprah, if Trudeau's main goal is to con people then I wouldn't want to support the man... and I would encourage others not to support him either.
Anyone else find it funny that silverjade27 has never posted before and his/her first one comes out with fists-a-blazing?
So Im guessing this Secret weight loss cure is being stored in a government warehouse, in between the car that runs on water and the Arch of the Covenant and the Alien from Area 51? its probably being guarded by Emelia Earhart and Elvis Presley.
Sometimes I wonder how much money I could make selling tin foil hats.....

Is he that idiot that was hawing coral calcium as the cure all for everything a few years ago, and has / had that book, that supposedly had the "cure" for everything??
That guy really needs to have duct tape permenantly attached to his mouth, what a snake oil salesman.
I have read Fast Food nation at least twice. It is quite an eye opener to say the least. And I've worked in the food industry and grew up on a farm. It made a huge difference in how I choose to eat and where I choose to shop.

It IS true that other cultures have been using natural cures for diseases (some with wonderful results) for thousands of years, but Trudeau presents it all in way that makes it look foolish.
And really, "natural cures" aren't really cures at all - they are tools that help the body heal itself.

He is a liar. There is no weight loss cure. Eat right and exercise!
So what are the details of book? What is he plugging that is the cure? What is he lying about? a pill? what?
I have not read the book but I have read this entire post and still don't know what he is plugging as the weight loss cure?

And you never will know the "secret" because his book is full of convoluted half truths and outright lies. It's just like any other crash fad diet - he spells out what you're supposed to eat and claims you'll never be hungry and will lose a pound a day.
I just can't believe he's back on tv spouting the same thing that got him in trouble before. I guess multimillion dollar fines aren't enough to shut him up. What he needs is a jail term.

chpastor,
Perhaps a better place to look for a book review is to go to the comments on Amazon.com. Here is a link for the book:

I was wondering what the big secret is because he says, it is something you can do in your own home, and he has done it, etc. He makes it sound like a specific thing you do. I'm guessing some sort of colonic cleansing thing?
I just got done reading THE WEIGHT LOSS CURE today. I have not started any part of the diet, however. This book is interesting. Kevin Trudeau is still very much determined to convince readers that the food industry, weight loss industry, and drug industry are all in cahoots to make us all fat and unhealthy for their own profit. He may be right, that I just don't know. Mr. Trudeau is a fairly covincing writer and speaker, but with all of the sketchy things you can find about him on the internet, it's easy to be skeptical about him. About the cure. Much of what is recommended sounds like it might work, but the thing for me is that the whole protocol is wildly impractical. The average joe would have one hell of a time trying to fulfill the requirements outlined, both financially and time wise. Still, I suppose it is possible, and the benefits are said to be miraculous and permanent. If you still want to buy the book, buy it at the store. Many have had trouble with the online purchase of it. Hope I helped.
Just wanted to let you know, I am now on phase 2 of the weight loss cure and doing very well. Although I have not lost 1 lb a day, and after reading many others comments, my weight loss as with many others was 1/2 lb per day, which is still great. And trust me before this I have tried everything even gastric bypass surgery!!!!
