Is 45kg/99lbs too low for 5'3"?
I'm 14, and currently 49.2kg (I think 108lbs) and at one point I was 45kg/99lbs. Last week I was 48.5kg/106lbs but I have my period so have gained 2lbs. Is 45kg/99lbs good or too low? I'd like to get back to it, maybe a little bit less, but for now 45 is good. Just wondering if it's too low? Or how to lose enough to get there.
Yes, 99lbs is too low at a BMI of only 17.5.
Even at 106 lbs you are probably underweight as for most people a BMI of 20+ is healthy.
At your age you don't need to diet as you're still growing. Bear in mind that a weight that you were once will now likely be too low as you grow taller, fill out and increase your bone density throughout your teens and into your early twenties.

As an adolescent, there are different criteria for what is a healthy weight than for an adult. Check your stats on the above chart and you'll find that you're a perfectly healthy weight at 106lbs. You'll also see that you need plenty to eat .. 'Daily Energy Requirements'
What you must under no circumstances do is try to lose weight and get back to 99lbs. Your body is growing and developing normally right now and if you put yourself on a diet you risk all kinds of nasty problems. Stay off the scales and think more about 'a healthy balanced diet' and 'being active' rather than 'calorie-counting' or 'dieting'
Expect to get taller and heavier between now and age 21..... not smaller or lighter. And if you're worried about the physical changes happening to your body or if you have any concerns about your size or your confidence, then talk to the people closest to you and tell them how you feel.
I was you...two years ago.
I was 5'3'' and was 108lbs, which I thought was 'fat'. I wanted to be 98lbs, at least that was the goal weight I voiced publicly here on the forums. Deep down however, I knew that I was recognizing that only as a starting point, I was aspiring to attain a lower number on the scale.
Yes, I reached 98 lbs...but immediately after, I gained weight rapidly. I reached 112+, eating moderate amounts of food.My metabolism was completely messed-up.
I always had this perception that any weight > 110lbs would be awful. I can only laugh now as I remember how naive and self-absorbed I was.
Guess what? You don't need to lose weight. You probably know this already, you (if you are anything like what I was) know that you are thin, you just want to be skinnier.
I still consider myself thin...and I am so much happier not obsessing what number the scale will read tomorrow morning.
You may skim over these comments, as I would have done once, telling yourself that you know better than these people. Unfortunately, I'm afraid that we are right (not to sound arrogant!)
Please listen to me, and to the other wonderful posters. Don't go down this route, as much you tell yourself that it is only a bit of innocent weight-loss, it is a very easy cycle to get trapped into.

You gained weight because you are growing. Do not try to lose weight. Your weight is perfectly normal and healthy, quite thin even!
if you are eating enoguh and are not starving its probably fine but if you are starving yourself its to low. some people weigh a little and eat alot, i used to eat alot and only weigh 95 pounds but its not like i was trying, thats just how my body was at the time before i got boobs and hips and a butt, just dont starve and u should be good~erica
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
