It's been a long road. I started here a year ago last May,did great, lost about 30 lbs but lost my way and gained it all back so I'm here to start all over again. I'm trying to beat my demons one at a time.
I've given up pop, chips ~ I use to be such a chip crazy person but I am not even interested in them now, haven't been for about a year.

My biggest weakness was McDonald's, I was getting to the point of eating it 3 to 4 times a week,I craved it so badly and then about three weeks ago I just lost the craving,I have no interest in it at all, just thinking about makes me feel ill. I'm getting so motivated again to do this.

It took awhile to get to this point beause I don't like to fail so if I don't even try then I can't fail right. Well enough is enough,I need to get healthy.

Watch me go! Weight loss here I come!!!!

Congratulations on giving up your biggest demon and making the decision to take back control of what is rightfully yours - your life!! I did the same thing, gave up McDonald's as a New Years Resolution and here I am 25 lbs thinner also! You can do this and we will be here to cheer you on. Best of luck to you!!
Great job kicking the McD's!  I live in a college town and it's the only thing open really late.  Around here we call it cocaine, because they have to put something addicting in everything to get people to come back for more heart attack meals!  Congrats and keep up the good work!!!

With that screenname and mindset, Im betting you!  Interesting how youve discovered you can really get out of the habit of eating certain foods, especially the unhealthy ones.  There are definitely foods we can get accustomed to - I used to have an issue with a drive thru ice cream parlor.  Funny how when we're NOT in the habit of eating them after a while how much easier it gets.

McDs has certainly done enough work over there years with their food for them to evolve into salty, fatty items which can be seriously habit forming.  Way to put yourself first - youre going to make this happen!
i love this development about myself too. i stopped eating mcdonalds in may, and now i'm highly sensative to even the smell. i can be in my room and smell it from all the way down the hallway (in college dorms) and i'll just be like "gag" because it's soooo rotten.

wish i could say the same thing about other foods though too, like say... cheez-its.
Thanks everyone for the support!!

I so agree with McD's being call cocaine,it is sooo addictive,It's pure evil,Thank god that now I think it taste gross.

Now if only I can get my body to crave green leafy veggies lol

Have you ever seen the supersize me movie? That'll make you never want to eat mcdonalds again!
Reading Fast Food Nation made me never want to eat McDonald's again. Once you sit and really think about what you're injesting junky fast food, you won't crave it so much.

Congrats on kicking MCdonalds! I'm currently in the middle of kicking my pop habit. i was a two can a day girl , then one can, now its only when i go out, after christmas its gone all together.  I find if phase stuff out it helps me become used to not having it.  Pizza is also a big thing for me at the moment. My bf loves it and i'm having a hard time saying no. Is any form of pizza healthy? I get the ristorante  ones that aren't too too bad, but i still feel like its not the best. I'm new here, I decided if i'm gonna do this right I need support especially as i try to lose weight over the holiday season, groan. Just wanted to say that this place is awesome, and everyone seems really nice and supportive.
Wendy, Lean Cuisine roast vegetable pizza is actually really good! I recommend.

Yay for you!

I gave up fast food on August 22, 2007.  The only places I go now are Boston Market (roast turkey, green beans, low fat dill potatoes, no cornbread) or Panda Express (Steamed veggies, mushroom chicken, green bean chicken, no fortune cookie).

=^..^= MOLLY

Good for you! I never had that problem - could never stand that thought of McD  food so I don't quite understand the  weakness for it........I do however get a craving for a whopper at b-king.  I have managed that pretty well  though (because of road construction! lol) and only have one every couple of months...I've  even downsized it to a JR.

And yes, pizza is a tough one......I have to be careful with those, but I have found that the lean cuisine fulfills my pizza needs. I haven't tried the roast vegetabel one, but certainly will after  Heathers' recommendation!

Good luck and keep on a different route from McD's!!!

wendy's has an ultimate chicken grill sandwich that is only 360 calories and very tasty (high sodium though, of course, that's where the taste comes from).

also, for wendy...lean cuisine pizza is pretty good...but if you want to indulge, try a very thin crust brick oven style pizzeria instead of the typical ones... dunno if that's what you were talking about when you said "ristorante."

Another pizza solution...Papa Murphy's!  I love hawaiian pizza, and 1 slice of hawaiian at papa murphy's is 190 cals! (thats for the medium)  Nowhere near as greasy as delivery places!
Good for you! Congrats. Seriously, there's not much of anything worse than McDonald's or similar fast food places. And, as another poster noted above, go rent "Supersize Me". It's just one guy's experiment/story - but it had lasting effects on his health!
Another pizza recommendation: Boston Pizza has a healthy choices menu and they have a California pizza with very little cheese, just a light sprinkling of parmesian. It's really good and I believe it has ~350 cals!

I'm pretty sure Ristorante pizzas are sort of high in cals and fat :(
Good job! I've never had the junk food problem, but there are times when it was just so much more convenient to eat there instead of prepare my own food.

After watching "Super Size Me" about a year ago our family has never gone back to McD's or any of the other popular burger joints. Quite an eye opener!

Cheeseburgers are one of my biggest demons, while I have not kicked them, I have got rid of McDonalds.  In my life there have been a few foods and alcohol that has made me really sick and I can't consume them anymore, nor do I have cravings for them.  So I took this approach with McDonalds and bought more then I could possibley eat and starting pigging out.  I barely got through half of it (less than I normally eat from there) when I just couldn't eat anymore and haven't since.

I do not suggest this to anyone!
Thanks for pizza recommendations. I'm in Canada so i don't think we have some of the places you talked about, but some of them I think i'm going to try!! I checked the ristorante ones, its about 300 for a third and i usually have a third and some veggies.
i loved mcd's until i watched that super size me movie and omg i dont eat there very often make sure to watch the bonus features too!!!

it will help at least it did for me watch and find out
