At 160 lbs in a year, that sounds a little too much too quick.
I'd love to see her in 3 years from now to see if she kept the weight off.
I'd pass on something like this

Nope. Never heard of it.

Here's the link to the diet thing. Although, I agree with bigtwinky....I'd love to see her in 3 years also. I believe it's mostly low-carb. I know there is someone else on this site who's been very successful with it (can't remember who!). Personally, I'm all about everything in moderation. I don't think it's super healthy to be cutting out anything in particular...well, maybe sugar and chocolate, but I LOOOOVE a good piece of chocolate every once in awhile. :)

she says she's kept the weight off for 5 years, but... I am skeptical of buying a 'diet plan' sight unseen, off the internet, from someone I don't know who could have written those testimonials herself....
And also she says you don't have to exercise.... That's .. not promoting health.
Post about it if you decide to do it.
Sounds like a get-rich-quick plan for her, playing on the desperation of dieters to me...

I agree it does sound like get rich quick plan, no I am not sure if I want to do this though god knows how tempting it is. okay guys I am facing a little problem here food in subcontinent are high in calories so I am not certain I the calories I am consuming are within the limits . everything has so much oil here . I try my level best to find the calorie and stay within my limits. Initially I lost 4 pounds but now it seems to have stopped? oh and the kimkins lady as amycarlson says have kept the weight of for 5 yrs.

Hey, I know that someone posted about this Kimmer person within the past month. You might want to search the forum archives. =)
i dont think its a good idea i mean in a healthy way it says u should lose 1-2lbs a week, she was (SUPPOSEDLY) loseing like 3-4lbs a week. and ive seen at least one girl on this site ALWAYS advertising it, so to me it just seems like a get rich plan...
i wouldnt trust it!

I don't think any of us need to buy a diet plan. CC is a free diet plan that has worked for a lot of people.
I paid the 60 bucks to access the site. Basically it's Atkins, but lean meats, limited fat and cheese.
That link that someone posted was an advertisment. They would get 15 dollars if someone signed up to access the site.

I'd be happy to share if anyone is interested. ;)
I've lost almost 30 pounds.

Congratulations on the 30lb loss. AWesome job!
How long have you been doing the kimkins diet? or did I misunderstand?

I'm ALWAYS sceptical of ANY diet that uses 'no exercise' as a promotion for it. I don't care how great it is - how long people have kept weight off - or how healthy it could be. I have a physical limitation that makes exercise a challenge but even I wouldn't do a diet that doesn't incorporate not working out.
Fortunately, we can count on ketosis to kick in around day 3-5 and
appetite shuts down like a steel trap! A great aid to any dieter and my
very favorite part of Kimkins--this is when the energy surge starts!
This is a quote from the official site.... please note-ketosis is NOT a good thing!!

Ketosis is a natural process, and the primary function by which the weight is lost while on a low-carb diet. Ketoacidosis is the condition that's bad for you.
the only thing i know about it is that a while back, i was trying to learn about nutrition, protein needs, muscle wasting, and starvation, and doing a google search (i don't remember now what the exact terms were), i stumbled upon something written by her where someone had asked a question like "won't your super-low calorie diet lead to starvation mode" and she said something like "no - no matter how low the calories in what you're eating, you have a million calories in reserve - YOUR FAT" then gave a math equation like 100 lbs of fat = 350000 calories to prevent you from ever being in "starvation mode" so you will never starve on the kimkins plan!
this is a paraphrase - it was quite a while ago that i ran across this, but if you search it, you'll see it for yourself (maybe look for kimkins and starvation mode). and obviously, it is bunk. starvation mode (or "preservation mode") occurs b/c your body thinks a famine is occuring - it holds on to every precious bit of fat that it has/turns every bit of food that it can INTO fat b/c it's not sure when it's gonna get a sufficient, steady supply of energy in the future. the fact that your body may have plenty of fat on it already, that there is in actuality no food shortage in modern american society, and that you would like to be sleek and fit is, to your body, irrelevant. also, if you are consuming VERY low calorie (meaining that the body must turn to some of its "reserves" in order to supply energy), it will preferentially catabolize its own muscle before it burns fat - a very bad thing because every lb of muscle consumes about 10 calories/day just to survive, even if "inactive" (that is, you're not exercising it), whereas fat requires very very few, so as you lose muscle, your metabolism drops. most of the time, even as you lose weight healthily and slowly, you will lose SOME muscle in the process. the only way to offset this is with resistance training (lifting weights, probably the biggest aid to weight loss because adding muscle adds to your resting metabolic rate - the number of calories you burn while doing nothing); however, fast weight loss using low calorie diets and "no exercise" like kimkins promise are the surest way to destroy a metabolism. tom venuto writes a good introductory article (available for free - google it) on why carb-reduction can be a useful aid for a short periods of time, but why low-carb dieting should probably be avoided for those who wish to lose weight. for those who wish to lose weight and gain muscle mass, google "zig zag diet dr squat" for a free article with a weight loss plan (not a product, nothing to buy, just a simple way of cycling calories) - however, the zig zag plan is slow. anyone trying to lose fat should be doing resistance training (lifting weights) to preserve their muscles - this is actually MORE important than cardio. lift heavy weights (that is, heavy for you), reps in the 6-12 range, full body workouts 2-3 times a week (3 if you can!), compound lifts that work large muscles (squats, deadlifts, chest press, standing military press, rows, pullups if you can [can substitute this with a lat pulldown or do them assisted if you can't do pullups]).
i would DEFINITELY stay away from kimkins! she is 1) a scam artist; 2) not selling anything that she invented herself; 3) taking other people's ideas and pushing them to very dangerous extremes (that they would likely not themselves even promote); 4) promising permanent weight loss without exercise - first sign of the scam; 5) expensive! why pay for what won't work or what you can get for free?

Yep definately a scam. I wouldn't just dismiss a low carbohydtrate diet so easily though, there is a lot of good science behind it if you look. The kimkins diet isn't really a low carbohydrate diet, what it is is a VLCD which stands for very low calorie diet which is defined as a diet below 800 calories. VLCDs are meant to be done with medical supervision and their suppossed to be done in a way to ensure as adequate nutrition for such little calories as possible. They really should only be used by people that have to for medical reasons as there are a lot of risks involved. Her diet though is just a stab in the dark, there is no science behind it at all and she has no medical or nutrition background.

Several years back when I was doing low carb I frequented a forum, much like this one, that was a lo-carb only forum. Kimmer was a regular there and she gave her diet advice away for free back then. Well, diet advice or militant opinion, depending on your point of view.
Her way called for low carb, low fat, low calorie and no sugar alcohols (which eliminated all the atkins bars and snacks). I tried her way for 6 weeks and lost a grand total of 2 pounds while eating about 1200 calories. Which was as much as I had lost the previous 3 months of being on adkins, so take that as you will.
Regardless of the widely held belief that lo-carb is good for people with underactive thyroids, it did not work for me. In fact, I think it made my thyroid worse. It certainly did nothing for my attitude, expecially since my husband lost 25 pounds and he only stayed on the diet at dinner time.

Hey Kay I was reading on the LCF forum you speak of that apparently hypothyroids should have atleast 30 to 40g of carbs per day and that less will make it worse like you suspected with yours.
It's worth noting that about.com (calorie-count.com's parent company) calls this diet "certainly ... potentially dangerous":
http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/populardietp lans/a/kimkinsdiet.htm
OTOH, if you want to lose all your muscle, ruin your metabolism, gain back more than you lose, and give your money to an anonymous web creature who refuses to reveal her real name (let alone document any of her claims), it sounds perfect ;-)

Hey guys, I thought you might be interested in some updates. A lot has happened over the last few months.
I have been following this from the beggining and Kimkins and the founder has been shown to be a scam. First slamboard released a bunch of photos taken of Kimmer (Heidi Diaz) that were taken by a private investigator showing that Kimmer is obese . Well this really got the whole fraud side rolling...
A lawsuit against Kimmer started getting underway, this is where members from kimkins can join a class action civil lawsuit against Kimmer for fraud with the goal of getting everyone their money back. If you were a member make sure to check out the kimkins lawsuit It is not too late to join.
Then it started to make national TV with her scam first being revealed on KTLA showing footage from the private investigation as well as talking to some of the members that experienced side effects including Christine, the girl whom was on the cover for the WW magazine whom was once the PR for kimkins.
Then a bunch of people discovered the photos from most of kimkins success stories were in fact allegedly stolen from Russian bride websites including Kimmers own after picture of a lady in a red dress!
Then some more airing of the kimkins scam including the Morning Show with Mike and Juliet where they had Christine plus another girl whom was also featured in WW, the new PR director whom has now quit, a nutritionist and a doctor. You can find all the kimkins videos here in the left menu
Last month KTLA aired footage of Kimmer at her deposition for the kimkins lawsuit here: Kimkins Diet Scam Link is under the lovely picture taken of her at the deposition. Her assets were then frozen, in the footage they flash her paypal statement on the screen showing that she apparently received I think it was 1.2 million in just the month of June alone and thats not including checks etc
Most importantly though is that her diet and advice was potentially dangerous, you can find research into some of the risks here: very low calorie diets as well as info on eating disorders which such extremes seem to promote: Anorexia and Bulimia
I think I covered most of it LOL, theres lots more out there, anyway if you're a member following this diet please read up on some of the dangers and consider joining the lawsuit. It is important that we all stand up to scam diets like this and say enough is enough.
