ok ever since I started dieting, I am having serious bathroom issues. basically I cant go. I want to but I cant. I have tried womens laxatives & correctol...still nada. Gross sorry. So I called my Doctor and he is outta town for 2 weeks. I really dont feel comfortable talking to a stranger doctor about this. I have been eating lotsa of stuff to help go but still nuttin! So I went to the drug store and found this 2 week natural laxative. It sounds like it will help me and doesnt sound harmful yet I am not sure if I should do this or not. You have to take like 12 pills a day and it supposed to have you regulated in 2 weeks. Anyone here feel my pain or what? Am i the only one here who cant go potty or what?

how's your fiber intake? maybe you're eating too much protein and not enough fiber.
when i have trouble in that area, i drink apple juice. that has always made me "go" since i was a baby. it does that for many people, maybe you should try that. also, activia (yogurt) is supposed to regulate you within 2 weeks, made me poop the day after i ate it.

well i try to add fiber in and I take those fiber choice tablets to boost it even more just seems like nothings working! I think thats is part of my plateau problem. I cant get nothing out!
Make sure you're drinking lots and lots of water. Too much fiber can actually stop you up if you don't keep it flowing. ;-) Avoid cheese if you can. And a little coffee sometimes helps stimulate digestion. Good luck, it sounds uncomfortable!!
oh yeah, coffee. that might make you go.
It is so Uncomfy!!!! My tummy hurts. I drink coffee in the morning (1 cup) and I drink a minimum of 70 ounces of H20 a day. I seriously havent gone more than a coco puff in about a month. I should have called the doctor sooner but I waited and now he is away...waa waa. I dont eat cheese. so should I try this kit I bought? It was freakin exopensive like $30!
lots and lots of water thats what the hospital told my husband after surgery and they also gave him ducolax pills that seemed to work great... good luck that is a horrible thing that happens to us.
if i hadn't gone in a month, i would try pretty much anything, including the the kit you got...what are the ingredients in it?
I have this problem too. I'm just fine until I start dieting and then the trouble begins. I've been finding eating a bunch of strawberries has been helping out. I can't drink more water because I'd probably be in danger if I did & as far as cheese goes, that's not the problem. In fact I've read that before and I'm not sure exactly what the logic is in that. I know what they're saying, but I think it's mostly bunk. At least in my case. Seems to me, at least in my diet that cutting down on cheese & other greasy fatty goodness is what causes the problem for me in the first place. lol The body should like green stuff but mine seems to always go wondering where the cheeseburgers are. :D
Speaking from experience with this (I'll leave out the details!), the big mistake people make is loading up on fiber when they are constipated. After a certain point you are just packing more and more into your intestines. If you are already glutting yourself with water, then I suggest that you try a laxative tea at night or something. But DO NOT ingest more fiber! Fiber requires a lot of water to move through your intestines and you've already said you can't possibly drink more water. Keep in mind that laxatives can take several days to work. And that stuff you bought at the drugstore (12 pills a day), I guarantee it is loaded with fiber. Most "colon cleansers" are. That's not a bad thing, but in an extreme case of constipation it will cause more problems. I implore you to believe me! Go back to the Pharmacy and ask them for over-the-counter Miralax. It used to be Rx only, but is now available OTC.
Remember folks, fiber is for keeping you regular, NOT for clearing up constipation (in most cases). There are always exceptions, so please don't yell at me if it worked for you. It clearly is not working in this case.
I hope you feel better soon!

lets see there is one bottle that says it is super milk thistle liver health. The ingredients are weird now that I am reading them it says, milk thistle, artichoke, dandelion, licorice...hmmm
the next bottle says Fiber fusion. Its ingredients are psyllium husk, oat bran, guar gum seed extractm pectin from citrus fruit, and marshmellow...hmmmm again.
and the last one saysLaxative formula. slippery elm bark, marshmallow, root extract, fenugreek seed extract, burdock, peppermint leaf, fennel seed, ginger, rhizome, red clover.
ineresting.

yeah, what's in the pills?
i wouldn't want to wait another 2 weeks to poop if i've already waited a month. you should get some milk of magnesia. it's nasty but it will work. or try mineral oil.

Yup...psyllium husk is pure, indigestable, plug you up fiber.
Jewels is right; mineral oil is another good option.

plug me up??? isnt this supposed to unplug me?????
those pills sound like a detox, not so much a laxative.
mineral oil? what do I do with that?
like i said in my previous post: if you're plugged already, more fiber will plug you more. not always, but it sounds like that is what is happening to you. And it has definitely happened to me. Try the OTC Miralax. It costs around $10.
If you really haven't gone in a while, I would call a doctor, even if you feel embarassed - you know, that's their job, to talk about these things, it is so normal to them that people have these problems. There's a small possibility you could have some sort of blockage, in which case, extra fiber tablets could do more harm than good. The doctor would know the symptoms better than I do, and may be able to suggest something that makes you feel better fast.
what does detox do? I am nervous cuz I took a dose of this stuff figuring it cant hurt and now I am a scaredy cat! I had to take 3 laxative formulas, 1 super milk thistle and 4 fiber fusions!
detox isn't bad for you, you worry wart! :D
it's just meant to cleanse your system- liver and intestines mostly. i've detoxed. It's great.
But you need to unplug first, hon. :)

AFter several hospital stays due to this problem I discovered the best thing is lots of vit C - I would drink tons of Crystal LIte sunrise drink and take vit c supplements
Next I take 15 min walk after eating. Doing crunches helps - I think working the ab muscles stimulates teh perstalsis too.
Lots of water - 3 oz of water for each gram of fiber in addition to 1/2 your body weight in oz of water - or at least a caffeine free drinks.
Next I take Colon Clenz 2 tablets on days I feel I'm getting "stopped up"
Correctol and other laxatives caused me terrible pain and did nothing to relieve the problems.
