Umm...there's no way she weighs 140lbs.
That means she's not only taller than me, but weighs two pounds less than me.
I mean, I understand I have a lot of muscle, but so does she. First of all, she does a lot of weight training, and second of all, one of the many reasons obese people's metabolisms are higher is because they develop more muscle mass from having the excess weight all the time. They need to, or they wouldn't be able to move their bodies. (By the way, that is a common misconception, that obese people must have lower metabolisms. They actually need more calories per day to maintain their weight than a thinner person).
So yeah, to see her in a bikini with 'stripper hose' on claiming to be 140...I've GOT to be a little skeptical. I KNOW I don't look like that.

I thought she looked good... only saw her for a second before I had to leave but.... *shrug*
we're all different
and we're not all on tv, which makes you look bigger, so I hear [and so I shall never ever agree to appear on tv or any other sort of videotaping... ;) ]

Yeah I'm not sayin she looked bad, I'm just sayin there's no way she weighs that little looking like that at that height, is all.
I'm not sure what your point is to be truthful....I think at 55 years of age to just follow through and wear a bikini is simply amazing - you wouldn't catch me doing that for all the money in the world!! LOL I absolutley adore Kirsty Alley - I think she is refreshingly honest and looks great and still very very beautiful! I think people look differently at different stages of their lives - when I was a teen I weighed under 115 pounds yet at 120ish I look pretty good at 40 years of age!! Better than I did back then somewhat - except for the butt!! I had an awesome butt back then!! Now I'm totally not sure what MY point is!! LOL Have a great day!
I think she looks beautiful...and I think she was beautiful to begin with.. but I understand Shakti's point. I have always wondered about her starting weight to begin with....It seemed like maybe she weighed more to start with than what she claimed.
What did it say she started at? was it like 220 or something like that? I weigh 230 and I don't think I was a big as her... but I could be totally mistaken. Until you really see someone in person you don't get a good feel for their true proportions.
I shoulda watched it and seen... now I wanna know!

I think she looks great, but I agree that she's not 140. I'm just a bit taller than her and weigh 143.
But remember, she started off saying she weighed 215, and I think if you look at her "before" pictures, she weighed significantly more than 215.
The point about being truthfull is - she is setting herself up to be a role model, but why does she have to lie about how much she actually weighs? It promotes unrealistic expectations of what women should/do weigh. And, well, it's dishonest.

You can't judge how much someone weighs just by looking at them, and she looks great. We should all know that first hand. Perhaps she carries her weight differently than you guys, and our bodies definitely change as we age. Maybe you have more muscle mass? I wouldn't automatically assume that she's lying. Besides, she claims a starting weight of 220 and to have lost 75 lbs which would put her at 145 (BMI of 22.7) which isn't stick thin. I also wouldn't trust the paparazzi photos....they know how to choose horrible angles.
The tabloids said she's 140 on her show she said she's like 156 or something!
EDIT: I thought you were talking about Oprah

I know she says she's lost 70-75 pounds. So it really depends how much she weighed to begin with. But going by the size of her thighs, there is no WAY that she is 145lbs (assuming she started at 220 or so, which is what everyone is reporting) at 5'8. I mean, that's basically what I weigh (at that height) and I am about half her size.
But as I said earlier, I think it's fantastic she got to where she is, and she has major balls for walking out on Oprah in a bikini. I'd like to see Oprah do that.

I was shocked by how she looked -- I thought she looked huge. The first thing I thought when I saw her was "why does everybody stop before they're finished?" I agree that there's no way in Hell she weights 140, ESPECIALLY if she's muscular from working out. Sure it's hard to judge a person's weight, but you're never off by THAT much when you do. Of course, I'm "trained" to expect super, ultra thin when it comes to Hollywood (NOT that that's right) -- that's probably why I was shocked. I do give her kudos for walking out in a bikini though. And I agree, that at her age, that she's doing GREAT.
You thought she looked huge, alayney?? Wow! I was amazed at how GREAT she looked! The camera adds pounds as well, don't forget!! Compared to how she looked before and now.....my goodness. Amazing!
The hell with 55!! I wanna do that at 39!!! LOL

I think the television has a little to do with it. Oprah says she wears a size 8 and I never think she looks that small. Probably in real life they're both smaller than they appear on television.
I think she looks really good, I don't think my stomach will ever look like that! :P

I'd like to start off by saying that I think she's beautiful. Now I'd like to say that, even when she first started on this weight loss journey and she claimed to be a little over 200 lbs (which later became 220), I thought she was being kind to herself, there is no way being 5'8" and as well endowed as she was that she just weighed 220 lbs...and if the camera adds pounds, then (to quote my favorite Friends episode) "How many cameras were on her"? She does look so much better than she did before but I will go to my grave convinced she weighs more than she claims to, but ultimately who am I to judge. I admire her for what she's accomplished and for having the guts to go on Oprah in a bikini..I couldn't do that, so KUDOS to Kirsty!!!
She looks great, and it's possible that she is 145 lbs.... I sort of look like that now...
I thought that she looked amazing! I am impressed with how far she has come! I think it is possible that she weighs around 145 pounds. I have seen some people who are skinny on top with huge thighs and they dont weight as much as you might think. ;) But i agree with most of you, I think she weighed more than 220 to start with. I weigh almost 200 pounds at 5'5 and I am nowhere near her starting size!
But I can understand not wanting to own up to your weight especially in hollywood where most gils weight -100 pounds haha

I don't think she's 140 (the thighs and boobs have to push her to 150/160 methinks), but I DO think she looks great. So curvy. *Jealous*
I had the same problem with one of the contestants on celebrity fit club...she was saying she was 130 and she looked way bigger than me (including much bigger boobs).

Well, she isn't skinny on the top or the bottom. And don't get me wrong guys, I'm not saying it's bad at all, I think she looks great and I'm awesomely glad she came out in a bikini looking like that, because if she lost ALL the weight I'd be a little dissapointed; our culture needs more beautiful women at her size. But c'mon, 140??
Those of you who say it's possible, click on the link above and LOOK at that. She's like 5'8, 5'9...She has muscle mass...140 isn't really fat on anybody at that height, even if they don't have much muscle mass.
Think about it this way, that means in 10 more pounds, at 130, she'd be around what everyone says Britney Spears was when she was at the 'top of her game.' 10 pounds, folks. I wish the 10 pounds I lost at Calorie Count were that dramatic, but they aren't!

"Oprah says she wears a size 8 and I never think she looks that small." -- leslieannroberts
Yeah, you can't really go by size AT ALL these days. Every designer now is different -- in one brand you might wear an 8, in another you can wear a 4. Sizes are actually bigger nowdays than they used to be. Women want to see a smaller number so they just made the smaller sizes more roomy. I'm AT LEAST HALF the size of Oprah and my Levis are an 8.
Having muscle mass is going to make you weigh more, so if she's got a lot of muscle then I'd REALLY expect her numbers to be higher. I think she looks about 160 AT LEAST.
