Oh, the joys of catnip. If you ever need something to pick you up after a bad day, just give your fuzzy feline a dose of heroine for cats. At the moment, the house is shaking from the hammering of crazy cat paws tearing around the upstairs.

:P

Sounds like a good idea. Hey Moxie want your fix?

lol. The only negetive side to giving it to them is that if you let them on your bed afterwards they'll get catnip all over it. But the dialated pupils and hallucinations def. makes up for that!

My first kitty Arys didn't care for cat nip at all, ever. My "new" boy Rascal went nuts when I opened a fresh container, but his interest seems to be dwindling a bit. He likes to lick it off of my fingers and I dip fake mice in it for him to play with. I'm growing it in my garden this year. If you rub the catnip between your thumb and index finger it releases a stronger scent for your buddies!

See, my cat can smell it from a mile off; we brought a sealed container home in a grocery bag and he started going nuts trying to get it out of the bag. Then he latched on to it so we had to pry him off it in order to actually open the thing.

My kittens would rather hoard it than eat it.  Alex's fat blob lays in it and tries to bathe in it, then passes out somewhere.   Not very much fun. :\

There is nothing more entertaining in this world than a crazy Siamese cat with a fresh catnip mouse.  Thanks for reminding me.

My cat Lotus dosent like catnip. I bring it in fresh from the garden and everyone but him devours it. Lotus goes crazy for violets, lady's mantle, and clovers however. Hes my cat alright ;) Im trying to upload a video of him eating violets on YouTube atm XD

Oh my gosh I just remembered that my cat also has seizures over Stride gum (not real seizures, just a term that I use to say 'goes crazy over...'), the light blue kind. He treats it like catnip, it's so funny!

My neighbours cat used to break in to my house via a window adjacent to their balcony (second floor apartment) to get into the catnip in my house. It used to freak the crap out of my dogs.

In my home, it should be called Kitty Ectasy, based on how they roll on it and would get so touchy feely with each other.

once time, at school this kid sold another kid a bag a catnip...the other kid didn't know it was catnip. They were both suspended from school.

You shoud try getting a catnip plant.

if you can get fresh catnip plants, give them to your kitties! it is hilarious! I was so disappointed when my cat didn't like catnip as a kitten. but once he was older, he LOVED it! it's hilarious b/c he's a large cat who was feral so he's super muscular and ginormous and he just goes crazy. it totally makes my day!

Yeah, "they" say that cats don't develop a lust for catnip until they are at least 6-8 months old or so.

What's great is, even though all three of my cats don't normally get along, when they're high on catnip, it's a little hippie-kitty love-in.

I take old socks, cut off the toe part, stuff it with catnip and tie it up. My cats will play with it for months. They'll carry it around, toss it in the air, lick it, chew on it. When it gets too dirty and/or they lose interest I throw it away and make them new ones.

The youngest of our 3 cats knows where the catnip is stored.  Mind you, it's in a plastic bag in a plastic container, but either she can still smell it or she's that smart.

When she needs a fix, she sits next to that cupboard door and meows and meows.  I let her stew a bit about it and then finally give it to her.  Look out!  Here comes nutsy cat!!!

The older two go a little crazy and then conk right out.  The baby cat will go on for a long while, bat at the dog some (that's always the finale), and then zonk - right to sleep.

Hee...hee hippie kitty love-in.  Yep!  Same with my 3 cats!  It's the only time they all curl up together.

My cat isn't affected by it too much.  It was kind of a bummer for me because everyone really hyped it up!  Maybe I bought weak, stale stuff.

our kitty has a catnip filled ball that we recently found again and discovered that he will play fetch w/it (our cat I should say is confused and sometimes thinks himself a dog, he also wags his tail like a dog when we come home) so we toss it across the house and down the stairs and he tears after it, then comes jauntily back carrying it in his mouth and drops it at our feet waiting for another toss. very entertaining :)

the first(and only) time I gave my cat catnip, she got really sick for about 2 days at first she loved it and did all the cute kitty stuff, but then she vomited a few times and couldn't do anything but lay around. I felt so terrible for doing that to her and promised I would never bring it in the house again. Our new kitty is so active and crazy that he doesn't even need cat nip so its worked out just fine!

My husband does the exact same thing for our cat.  It's so funny to watch her snuggle the sock, then lick it, bite it, toss it across the room and start all over again.

While we're loading up the sock, she'll like try to stick her head directly in the cat nip bag.  Silly addict.
