Do you know anyone you *don't* want to find this site?

A friend I work with almost saw me on this site last night, but I hurried up and clicked on another tab. She is formerly anorexic, and still has an extremely skewed body image. If I thought she would use the great features here to eat healthy and get to a healthy weight (she's 5'9" and weighs 100 pounds), read the weight gain forum, etc., I would gladly give her the link. However, I know she'd probably use the info to restrict, and glom on to the others here with screwed up body images. So, I will probably avoid this site at work and hope she doesn't find it.

Anyone in your life that you want to keep from finding this site?

Oh yes. My mother and sister would absolutely have a fit if they knew what I was up to on here. They get extremely offended if anyone declines sampling their calorie-filled concoctions, and anyone who refuses a perogie is automatically anorexic and in dire need of psychiatric help. Especially since I am considered a healthy weight, they are on me all the time for being so self-concious about myself.

My mother would not be happy if she knew I was doing this. Though growing up I always seen her counting calories, and measuring and exercising like mad, she would not accept me trying to maintain or tone up my body. She'd definitely just run and say I was an anorexic.

I also wouldn't want some of my friends to find this place.. They would judge me for every word I said. I am the skinniest of all of my friends and I already get taunted, this would just add to their fuel.

It's a shame when you're afraid to be healthy, isn't it? When I just wanna make sure I'm on the right track and have to sneak around to do it? In a society where thin is in, and healthy foods are on the rise, I have to pretend I'm not.

exactly. it makes me so mad when i have to hide my healthy weight loss because people will think i'm not confident in myself. you have to be super skinny to be accepted but we have to be super confident and just lose weight on accident? it doesn't make sense.

No, I think everyone should be a healthy weight and fit; it's more pleasant to look at normal people than obese people...

Oooooo.... yeah!!  I'd hate my in-laws to find it.  Only because I've mentioned how evil they are on here a few times.  hehe

I completely agree with this statement! You know something is wrong when people are getting taunted for eating healthy.

My boyfriend.

He thinks I'm obsessed because I don't like to eat fried foods. Even though I'll eat a whole bag of peanut M&M's with him!!! He would think I'm nuts for counting my calories.

Plus I rant about him a lot  on here lol

I really wouldn't wish for people to never find a helpful, informative, balanced nutritional site. There are several people I will not discuss my weight loss with, though. I've been learning about the concept of "Toxic People" lately and have been actively identifying people that are hindering me, intentionally or not.

For example, I have a friend from high school who suffers from many of the same problems I (did) suffer from: grossly overweight, sedentary lifestyle, horrible diet of fast foods, and back pain as a result of the former problems. I've been working to fix my problems in recent times while he has continued to get worse. I used to bring up my successes in weight loss to try to motivate him, but he always lashed back or tried to convince me to stop. Then I tried to be neutral and just avoid the subject, but he would bring it up and be negative about it. Now I don't talk to him anymore. Just how it goes.

If someone is on this website trying to improve themselves through diet and exercise, then they deserve nothing but respect. Of course, not everyone is trying as evidenced by several forum and journal posts I've read of people repeatedly doing the same stupid crap over and over "oh noes, I want to lose weight but I drank 9 margaritas in one night" or being in the same exact position they've been in for over a year. For those people I have nothing but contempt, but for those really trying, nothing but respect.

Anyone IRL I deal with LOL -- I want to feel anonymous and not fear offending someone when I complain about them.  I don't want to feel I'm being "watched" or having my style cramped!!!

I like being anonymous on here.  Only a hand full of members know my real name, and only a handful of friends know my user name.

I agree with the first half of your sentence, disagree with the second half. But, regardless, wouldn't you agree that not everyone here is using calorie counting to be at a healthy weight? I've only been on here a few days, but I've seen plenty of posts from what I would consider pro-ana people.

Me too!  Except my bf knows because I talk about things I read in the forums to him all the time.  I'm sure one day he'll pop in and totally cramp my style!

I like the anonymity provided by internet. My name is nothing like what I use on other forums, no pics of me that reveals my face or body enough for people to figure out.

I don't think I would really tell anyone in RL about this site unless they are really hellbent on losing weight or dealing with other weight related issues. And if I do, I'll probably not tell them my name here.

i'm not very public or talkative about my exercise, diet and others issues (ED). i don't really tell anybody that i use this site.

but.. i really wouldn't ever want any that goes to my highschool to ever find me on here, or (for some strange reason).. my boyfriend's parents.

i told my boyfriend about this site, but not my username, and he said he though his mom was on here to and i almost flipped out :\

 My reason as well. :)

I definitely don't want anyone I know to come across my journal here. I talk a lot about personal problems and I'd really hate for basically anyone I know in "real life" to find out about.

I did at one point tell my ex's family and some people I used to work with when they wanted to know my 'secret for weight loss'. None of them wanted to bother with the effort and I don't think any of them ever tried it.

Since I'm on here anonymously I wouldn't mind if people I knew were as well, with the one exception of my coworkers. If one of them happened to read some of my posts and connect the dots I'd be in for some serious embarassment. :'/

I do, but it's mostly for selfish reasons, I'm afraid.

I have a friend (Though, in retrospect, she's not too good of a friend) and we're both kind of competitive. She's larger than I am, and it seems to be the only thing I can really beat her at (She has a way of one-up ing me pretty bad).

That and I post a lot of stuff that I want a 'clean' view of. If I ask my family the questions I ask on here, I'm not sure if I can trust them to be honest with me, ya know?

I like to be anonymous on here pretty much as well. It makes me feel safer.
