I know you aren't supposed to crash diet
Okay, I need to lose weight and I have a little over 2 weeks to do so, to fit into a certain dress. I understand loosing weight at an intense weight will cause me to gain it back equally fast, but I really just need to fit into this dress by May 16th. It's a boned dress with abosolutely no stretch to it and it's about 2 inches from zipping. HELP!!!!
Ps- I promise after I fit into that dress I'm going back to a normal healthy weight loss plan
Just of interest how much do you need to lose?
First 10 ten days - eat nothing but (as much as you want) of cheese, butter, eggs, bacon, any kind of meat really, diet coke, no juices or bread or anything with sugar!
Last 8 days slowly introduce carbs back in (like a piece of fruit) and eat mainly only low fat/cal foods.
I can guarentee you if you don't cheat, you not only will notice a drastic weight loss in the first 6 days, but also lightheadedness and lack of energy. i wouldn't recommend much excersise on this type of crash diet but mainly toning and low resistance.
Go the low carb route. Go to the atkins website and do their induction phase and you'll be fine.
eat 2-3 little meals a day, depending on what you can handle, i'm not a breakfast person so it doesn't bug me to have just a coffee for breakfast. example:
morning: coffee, if u like breakfast, package of oatmeal (i make my coffee with splenda and real half and half, probs 20-30 calories worth)
lunch: 1 chicken breast, piece of fruit
dinner: for the beginning i'd say keep it healthy, like a salad and some veggies, maybe some veggies and rice, eventually though, just have a small portion of whatever you like
if you're super hungry at night, i suggest a hot cup of tea with splenda and a dab of skim milk if you like it sweet. the hot liquid will make you feel full
if you can i'd work out a little, that speeds up the process. anyway, i have lost about 8 lbs in a little over a week doing this, not really on purpose i had my wisdom teeth out last summer so i had to eat little bits at a time, and when my mouth started feeling better my stomach had shrunk so i ate less. the first few days i couldn't exercise at all b/c of the surgery but when i was better, i ran 3-5 miles a day 5-6 days/week and lifted 3/4 days a week. its all about the portions really. this is more if you don't want a low carb diet b/c i personally love carbs and would never want to do that. for dinner you can totally eat spaghetti, just eat a little bit. hope this helps!
two inches is a huge amount to lose in three weeks. unless you're significantly overweight and have a lot to lose, you should be looking into getting the dress altered.
try just eating salads w. tons of veggies and lean meats of either chicken or fish and only use vinager and a little oil on the salads. eat plain low fat cottage cheese for snacks or reduced fat string cheese. Keep low carb. Get an Atkins book and try the meal plans in there.
but yea as pgeorgian said two inches is alot to lose. Question Why did you get a dress so small? Should have gotten it bigger that way if you did lose the weight you could at least have it altered down.
Hey whatever you decide to do let me know. I also am lookin to drop a few more lbs by May 16th (my wedding)... I've been doing amazingly well here on on CC for dang almost a year now... and I am fine with my very very slow weight loss. HOWEVER I would like to speed it up a bit the next couple weeks. Whatever you decide on doing let me know and I will do it with ya :)
Hi! I have the last stubborn 10 pounds to lose - and i am so short, i wasn't going anywhere. I decided to do a detox diet that they talk about on Howard Stern a lot. I did it for 13 days and lost 11 pounds! Plus, it's a detox/health promoting regimen. My sister did it, and is on day 17 and has lost 14.5 pounds. We're both pretty small, i am 5'1" and 117lbs and she is 5'3" and was 140 when we started, so it even works if you don't burn a lot of calories at your BMI! And whatever kind of weight it is, it's gone - i'm down a size and feel awesome too. You can email me offline if you're interested and willing to commit. It takes some doing, but it really works...wonders! k_castagnoli@yahoo.com
If this is one day thing (e.g., wedding dress), try a body shaper. Depending on your currents weight, it might be possible for you to fit in that dress by just wearing a good body shaper.
Forget the crash diet...it's not only that you'll gain whatever you lose back, you may also do damage to your body and it may not work!!!!
I can certainly understand being willing to make a trade off of losing the weight now, but gaining it all back later, except that it truly can effect your health...no matter how much you weigh for this event you will have much more fun if you're healthy and it may not work.
Something that has ALWAYS stuck in my head from the moment it was said comes from a movie. Okay, I don't remember the exact line, but it's from Monster-In-Law, with J-Lo and Michael Vartan.
The "to be" mother-in-law was talking to her about losing weight to fit into that wedding dress, and J-Lo made the statement of saying that the dress is being designed around HER body, not the other way around.
And so true it is! Why should an inanimate object have power over you and make you jump through hoops to please it? It will not thank you, it will not appreciate your effort. It will only cause you extreme stress and misery. You need to lose the weight in a healthy way for YOU, not for a dress. If it's an event that is too close to do it the healthy way, then the idea must fly out the window so you can get a better fitting dress and feel confident that it will fit and you will look fab.
i lost 10 pounds in a week by eating just veges, a lot of this was probably water weight that i lost but still. it was really gruelling and i'd allow maybe one piece of fruit a day. i think this is quite dangerous in the long run but i figured it was only for a week. i cut even diet coke and coffee .. so just pure vegetables and water, no salt and no starchy vegetables. i fit into my dress, drank a lot and had a big meal the next day so the weight was back in no time, but i expected that. :)

is that a joke? heart attack!
I agree with Angie, try a good quality body shaper or foundation garment. It is amazing how these garments can smooth out the lumps and bumbs and this may be all that is needed. If this doesn't work, I would suggest getting the dress altered as unless you have lots of weight to lose, losing 2 inches in two weeks is not likely to be easy or safe. Remember you want to look radiant in your dress rather than pale and weak.
lolalou, your veggies-only plan is on par with the meat-and-cheese plan as far as jokes go.
personally, i don't see the logic to jeopardising health to look good in a dress for one night, knowing that you're going to be back where you started in a few days. so you can put some pictures on facebook that you'll never live up to again?
i'd rather be healthy and look good for the rest of my life than have that.
DRINK TONS OF WATER. Jillian Michaels (a trainer on The Biggest Loser) has a book out called Making the Cut, and in the very back she has a menu plan for what she called the 7-day peak. Buy the book, it's prolly only 20 bucks or so, and STICK TO THAT MENU IN THE BACK! But even if you can't buy that book, I noticed that she hammers the topic of drinking water like crazy. The menu says to have at least 100 oz per day. The less water you drink, the more your body will retain it. So chug, chug, chug! Sure, you'll go to the bathroom a bit more, but it's worth it. Do cardio whenever you can, eat healthy foods in healthy portions, and steer clear of breads and sugars. This is all exactly what I've been doing for 8 days or so, and already I'm down about 10 pounds. I can't promise those exact results for you, cuz I've got a ton of weight to lose so it comes off easier. But whatever else you choose to do, remember water comes first. Hope this helped you!
