You know you have been dieting too long when...

When wasa crackers taste like a treat.

When the actual taste of real butter is a long lost memory.

When your fantasies no longer include Johnny Depp but instead, Little Debbie!

and yours?

When you go to a party and load up your plate with the cut veggies and then decide you should add some chips to make the plate look normal.  Then you add 3 and don't eat any of them.

When you cook dinner even though you're way too tired and would normally go out but you know nothing could be healthier than lemon pepper tofu with a side of broccoli.

When you decide to have a few more calories one day, go out to eat, try to estimate the calories in your meal, and then give up because you have no idea how much oil they added to cook the meal.

When your idea of a quick breakfast on the run is driving down the road with a plain kashi waffle between your teeth.

When your husband is out of town for a few days, so you throw out the BBQ chips (of course, not the entire bag at once, but actually dumping the chips in the garbage), then tossing the bag) so you won't be tempted to eat any.

-When you secretly sabotage your friends into eating more calories than you

-When you secretly chuckle inside every time your friends eat something very caloric

Wow. I would hate to be your friend.
No seriously, that's a pretty screwed up thing to do to someone. To know about health & make good choices for yourself, yet not want your friends to be healthy? Your self esteem must be terrible.

When eating cereal is a treat!

This morning I was cutting up a carrot for my lunch, and ate a peice. Three things occurred to me:

1. Wow this carrot is so sweet, I bet it has more calories than usual, I wonder how I should log it

2. Hmm is it a large carrot or a small carrot? I wonder if i should look up "medium carrot" or use an average of small and large

3. Haha I should write this in the "you know you have been dieting too long when" thread

when you wonder how many more calories you're burning walking down the street in high heels than in tennis shoes.

i did that today. it really feels like a lot more work... say 1000 calories? lol

heheh:))

heheh:))

- when you take an extra 45 minutes at the grocery store b/c you have to read all the labels

This one is so me. There were less than 20 kinds of soy milk at the store I go to, and it took me 20 minutes to select a quart of the stuff. I eventually went with the organic, unsweetened, vitamin and mineral enriched variety. It still tastes plenty sweet to me.

When foods taste sweet that you know some people find bitter or neutral (85% cocao chocolate).

I went out for a drink with a friend, and they put a bowl of nuts on the table. I had 3, he had the rest. I also slowed my drinking so he had 2 to every one I had. I made some steaks for 4 July and gave the bigger one to my house guest.

So I guess the way to express this one is consciously letting the other person always have the bigger portion.

Ooh, I love these!

-When you have a milkshake on your "cheat day" and don't eat anything sweet the rest of the week because all you can think about is how good that milkshake was, and that's enough.

-When you turn down a trip to Dairy Queen to go on a run!

OK I got one today...

When you have your DVD workouts memorized and KNOW exactly where rep mistakes are made...

For example, today I was doing a workout and the instructor says, "Give me 4 more!" and I'm just like, "Whatever dummy we're gonna do 6 more..."

I know exactly what to expect =P

AHHH!!  This is by far my favorite.  I know every time Billy Blanks says "last one" and it really isn't the last one.  I know every time his daughter randomly turns around and yells, and every time he says something goofy like "A rocket!  Going through space!"

LOLOLOLOL

you work out the calories of the meal while you cook it!

you hunt the cupboards high and low for some food because the only other option is bread, instant noodles, peanut butter, rice or leftover curry, and you HAVE to have something 300 cals or under..XD

At 10pm you are back in the kitchen running around the cupboards like a crazy woman because you haven't even gotten close to the 1400 or under you were "supposed" to consume that day...

...and to add to the latter, you end up eating peanut butter out of a jar because nothing else was "appealing" or "too high/low" in calories! (while earlier on in the day you wouldn't have dared go NEAR the peanut butter jar)

Here's a sign that you're aspiring to these lofty behaviors: when you drink your cup of unsweetened organic soy milk out of the measuring cup.

you can correctly guesstimate (ball park it) how many calories are in something just by the look and taste of it

You feel guilty about the calories in your sugarless gum.

You consider gum a dessert after a meal of coffee.

You've to stop using flavored lip gloss because you think something tasting that good can't possibly be calorie-free.

You spend an extra hour in the grocery store checking and double checking every box of coffee and artificial sweetener to make sure they still don't have any calories.

You can't eat in public anymore because your habits are too weird.

You find yourself waiting impatiently for the commercials while watching TV, just so you can do your sit-ups.

You're so accustomed to scanning calories that you unconciously check your water.

You get full off of water and one rice cake.

You learn that the average human swallows eight spiders in his or her lifetime and your first thought is, how many grams of protein are in eight spiders?

You consider sex just because you think it'd be a good workout.

You're famous within your family for making the banana cream pie, yet you've no idea how it tastes.

You think about food more than about your spouse.

You go to sleep at night think about what you'll eat the next day.

You spend hours upon hours viewing recipes online knowing damn well you'll never make any of them.

- you mentally add your calories while eating dinner with family and have to keep yourself from leaving the table to log them into the computer

- you push yourself to do 20 minutes more on the treadmill so that you can justify an extra glass of red wine at dinner

- you can tell what time it is by your stomach because you're hungry just about every 3 hours

- you no longer enjoy milk chocolate or M&Ms because they are too sweet.

- Ditto!

Love the thread!

OOoo man, when the dvd's make mistakes and you don't miss a beat....

....or when the ppl in the dvd's start to annoy the piss out of you and if they wink at the camera one more time (which of course they will, so you have to look away at that point).

........when your co-workers have stopped bringing in food cuz they know you won't eat it, and they feel guilty eating bad stuff around you!

When you remember a forum from 6 months ago and search for it because you want a  "pre-holiday" motivator.

When you realize that nonfat plain yogurt and vanilla protein powder is sweet enough to be called desert.

Guys... is all this really healthy?
