How do you know??
How do you know how many calories it takes just to operate your body daily and how much you have to excercise to start losing weight???
When you set up your account, you probably entered your current weight, as well as your activity level. These numbers will generate an estimated calorie expenditure, which you can see on your "My Account" page.
The "Tools" tab is also an excellent resource. Under it, you can find a burn meter, which will tell you how much your daily caloric expenditure is, as well as a "Calorie Target" tool, which will help you determine how many calories you need to consume daily in order to reach your goal weight.
One thing to keep in mind is that your body needs an absolute MINIMUM of 1200 calories a day just to function at full capacity. Chances are, especially if you are overweight, your body will need more. If you work out, you must eat 1200+whatever calories your burned (for example, if you workout on the elliptical for 20 minutes and burn 200 calories, you must eat a minimum of 1400).
well the tool isn't working so well for me because it tells me that my goal date is too aggressive but that's what I want to work for so how do I figure it keeping the goal date I want, not what the site determines is a good date?
How do you know how many calories it takes just to operate your body daily-Katydid22 answered that
how much you have to excercise to start losing weight??? -you need to burn more calories than you consume to start losing weight.
how do I figure it keeping the goal date I want, not what the site determines is a good date? -CC won't let you set it up that way. They think losing upto 2 pounds a week is a healthy way to lose weight. But 3500 calories is a pound so you if you still want to lose more than 2 pounds a week you can figure it out with that info.
Your profile mentions a goal in June, at 1-2 lbs per week that would give you a weight loss of 26-52 lbs. If you combine weight lifting into your routine you can look like you've lost more weight than you actually have. A healthy diet with a 500-1000 calorie deficit and a reasonable amount of exercise will help you to accomplish this. Don't go over 1,000 calories for your daily deficit, there are all kinds of issues, starting with nutrition, fatigue, loss of muscle, bone and hair and then it can stall your weight loss.
ok. My burn meter says 1400 calories, I am consuming a little under 1000 calories a day and doing well with that as far as not being hungry. I have been trying alot of the recipes on here. So, how long should I be excercising daily to meet that goal?? Thanks for your help!!
Oops, I meant to put 1900,
ok. My burn meter says 1400 (really is 1900) calories, I am consuming a little under 1000 calories a day and doing well with that as far as not being hungry. I have been trying alot of the recipes on here. So, how long should I be excercising daily to meet that goal?? Thanks for your help!!
You are going to stall if you keep eating so few calories. Either that or you will gain everything back, plus some, when you start eating again.
Eat 1200 calories a day. The tool says your goal date is too aggressive because it IS.
You need to eat a minimum of 1200 calories per day, possibly more. This is not a matter of how hungry you are, but a matter of getting sufficient nutrition and calories for your body to function properly.
Why eating only 1200 calories or undereating doesn't work

In the long run, you won’t lose weight faster by eating 1200 calories a day. Under-eating deprives your body of essential nutrients and leads to muscle breakdown to provide energy. With less muscle, you require fewer calories and you reach a weight low plateau more quickly. Restrictive dieting also places you at risk for binge-eating which can lead to weigh gain and a life of yo-yo dieting. The Calorie Target calculator in the Tools section recommends ___ calories a day for you, personally, to lose 1.5 lbs per week, and so eat ____ calories, feel happy and healthy, and set yourself up for lasting weight loss success.
Calorie count does not support starvation diets or very low calorie diets. The minimum for an adult woman (not taking into account exercise and higher than average height or weight) is 1200 calories per day to lose weight.
Once you start playing around with your calories and hunger cues your body will no longer reliably tell you when you're hungry or not hungry so not feeling hungry is because you've taught yourself not to feel hungry, not because your body doesn't need more nourishment.
What are your stats? How old are you, how tall are you, how much to do you weight, how much exercise do you get?
you are being to aggressive, just like the tool says. weight loss is not meant to be fast and just because you have a personal deadline, doesnt mean that its healthy or going to work. try following what this site tells you. now you are eating too little.
