I know I'm very awesome, BUT DO YOU NEED TO WORK OUT RIGHT ON TOP OF ME
I have space issues. My personal bubble is very large.
So here I am at the gym today when no one was there in order to indulge my large personal space bubble. Our gym has about 70 treadmills. No joke.
green=open treadmill
red=treadmill in use
pink=me
yellow=person who couldn't use any other of the other 45 other treadmills
I mean did you have to use the right one right next to me when there are rows and rows of open treadmills? DID YOU? It just really annoyed me ok.
Even worse are those people who can't stay in their space in a gym class, kick boxing for example, We all line up in a our rows etc but there is always that one person, who just always happens to be next to me, who doesn't know how to return to their spot if we travel, arg I hate that!
This is what happened when spirochete moved away from this kid on a treadmill.
Okay, I'm not awesome? Unlike spirochete...who I'm fairly sure could kick my..er...behind? So I'm not sure that anyone wants to get that close to me anyway? But I make doubly sure it won't happen by NEVER GOING TO A GYM!
My personal space requirement is more like an acre....
omg, LMFAO. I love the diagram. I have personal space issues as well. Unfortunately I also have a person that seems to NEED to be by me in order to workout... he always works out right next to me and tells me stories I don't care about and follows me aorund andinvites me places. hek nows I have a husband, so I'm not sure what he hopes to accomplish, but its annoying. I've tried altering my workout time, but he adjusts his as well after a few days.
And people wonder why we don't like to be talked to at the gym - because this^^ is what happens!
That's very creepy, sugar - can you talk to the gym management?

In retrospect I should have invited her on the treadmill with me for a tandom run.
Wow. I read this while I was on a conference call with a customer problem and almost lost it.

yeah, it really used to creep me out at first, but I'm pretty sure he's harmless. I work out in the mornings so it always light outside when i'm going in and out of the gym. And he never follow me outside of the gym (at least i don't think...) Plus, i figure that its been going on for so long that if he really was going to do something he would have done it by now.
I'd also like to add that people should be checked at the door to make sure they don't smell like smoke or have too much perfume/cologne on. There have been times the smells of those things have forced me off a treadmill because it was so overpowering.

I like the people who show up 10 minutes after the class has started and wedge themselves right into my perfectly calculated spot that i staked out 10 minutes BEFORE the class started
how annoying is that?
i guess you are just that freakn awesome?
sounds like you are gonna just have to get used to it.
or maybe do like crazy arm extensions while you are on the treadmill so you expand your own bubble and make it dangerous to be in close proximity?
i do that when people piss me off in the pool and cross into my side of the lane. freakn lane hogs!!! i just put my hand paddles on, which btw, could prolly draw blood if i swim fast enough.
its all about intimidation...work on that.
or buy your own gym like you are f-n madonna or something. ![]()
your diagram rocks btw.

And when those people show up 10 minutes late to a class like yoga or pilates, that is supposed to be quiet, its REALLY annoying that after they wedge in next to you they start yapping loudly to either their friend or to you - asking questions about what has happened so far and telling the story of why they're late. NO ONE cares.
I was in a class (belly dancing) - it was the free class, so lots of people showed up. I got there on time, and had a spot. One woman comes in late and I make room for her. Then 5 people come in late - we make room for them (all on my side of the room, because god forbid they walk to the other side of the room, where you could swing a moose and not hit anyone).
Then one more person comes in late. I decide I am not moving - I've moved 6 times already, and I barely have enough room as it is.
The first woman who came in late taps me on the shoulder, and asks - no - tells me to move to make room for the seventh late person. Me. Who was on time.
