Hi Molly, I don't know what you're supposed to be doing today but I'm supposed to be working up a quarterly financial snapshot for the DH! I've already solved today's Sudoku and Crossword on the LA Times website as well as in our local paper! Imagine my joy at finding yet another fun thing I can do before I start the number-crunching!

DAILY CALORIE GOAL:  1500-1700

WEIGHT LOSS GOAL OR MINI GOAL:  Mini-goal is 275 (started at 292, am at 286 right now) - ultimate goal 175 (I'm six feet tall, so 175 is a healthy weight for me) 

VITAMINS OR SUPPLEMENTS?  No... I'm bad about that. When I do remember, it's Flintstones. Nope, no kids. Just like Flintstones. :D

USUAL BREAKFAST:  Whole Wheat Bagel with 1T of light whipped cream cheese OR 1C cereal (various varieties) and 1C 2% milk (I just CANNOT do fat free, it's like white water! Yuck! Used to be whole milk, so 2% is a change enough).

USUAL LUNCH:  Soup is nice, or a small sandwich, or Lean Cuisine - anything brought from home. Better on our budget, and on my waistline.

FAVORITE SNACK FOODS (SWEET):  Pears, apple, kiwis, grapes, if i'm craving something sweet I have some mini-tootsie pops that are 17 calories apiece. Yay! Really though there's something about a pear that cuts through sweet cravings really efficiently.

FAVORITE SNACK FOODS (NON-SWEET): Sunflower seeds (secret addiction!), smart pop popcorn, oh, and Molly, I'm with you - PICKLES ROCK!

FAVORITE LOW-CALORIE BEVERAGE: Water. I'm trying to break my addiction to soda, but it's rough. I'm an RC gal, Coke in a pinch. But lately I've cut back from several a day to one or two a week when I have some calories left over and feel that craving getting too much hold on me.

FAVORITE LEAN PROTEINS: Chicken, chicken, chicken, tilapia, lean sirloin, lean pork, chicken, soy (edamame rock), seeds, and chicken. :) I LOVE Chicken.

FAVORITE LOW-CALORIE BREAD: Anything whole-wheat. The Sara-Lee Soft & Smooth 100% Whole Wheat is surprisingly good. I used to be an all-white-bread chick, but haven't had any in months. :D

FAVORITE LOW-CALORIE SALAD DRESSING: Taco Sauce (my favorite is Ortega Medium taco sauce, that stuff rocks).

FAVORITE SOUPS: Campbell's Beefy Vegetable (very cheap calorically), tomato soup, chicken noodle soup, minestrone, beef stew

FAVORITE VEGGIES: Does edamame count? It's a soy product... hm. I love it though. Broccoli, BRUSSELS SPROUTS (to die for, the way I make them - yes, still very healthy), Cauliflower, Green Leaf Lettuce, Roma Tomatoes, or homegrown tomatoes - I'll eat those like an apple.

HATED VEGGIES: ANY Squash YUCK! Beets, RAW broccoli or cauliflower.

FAVORITE FRUITS: Apples, Pears, Kiwis, Pineapple, Tangelos, Grapes, Strawberries, Blackberries, Blueberries, pretty much anything but bananas (mild allergy)

FAVORITE GRAIN: Long-grain jasmine rice mmm.

FAVORITE STARCH: Potatoes, whole wheat angelhair pasta <--surprisingly good!

FAVORITE EXERCISE: Nothing right now - I'm in physical therapy for my knees :(

FAVORITE LOW-CALORIE FOODS YOU WANT OTHERS TO KNOW ABOUT: Well, Hellman's just came out with a cholesterol-free mayonnaise made with Canola oil that has only 45 calories a tablespoon and tastes EXACTLY like real mayonnaise.  It has very low saturated fat, and a little goes a long way on a sandwich.

Why does everyone hate beets?!?! I LOVE BEETS! I bought a bunch today.

I think that the ONLY beets I've ever encountered were pickled beets that sort of bled all over my plate .... ick ick ick.  I'd love to hear a recipe for beets that doesn't involve pickling or bleeding!!!!

I've noticed cauliflower and eggplant aren't universally popular, either!

USUAL BREAKFAST:  1/2 cup Kashi Golean, 1/4 cup Flaxplus, 1/4 cup enriched soymilk plus whichever chopped up fruit I want that day(or canned pumpkin) all heated up yummy in the microwave till squshy.


USUAL LUNCH:  LTF WW wraps with spinach, vegan cheese, hummus, cucumber, mushrooms, etc.... folded in it.  With fruit or carrots.


FAVORITE SNACK FOODS (SWEET): Air popped popcorn w/splenda and cinnamon on it. Apples with almond butter, dried fruit, WW toast w/ sugar free strawberry preserves, grapes, melon w/ cinnamon.


FAVORITE SNACK FOODS (NON-SWEET): pickles but I've been avoiding due to sodium(sadface). roasted squash seeds, wasabi peas when I'm splurging, air popped popcorn, cucumber.raisins that are salty from being in a trail mix(I pick them out).


FAVORITE LOW-CALORIE BEVERAGE: C.L orange flavor, diet mt. dew, diet pepsi, soyslender, decaf coffee. Mostly I drink water, honestly.

FAVORITE LOW-CALORIE BREAD: Some 40 cal/slice WW stuff I found. La Tortilla Factory WW wraps.

FAVORITE SOUPS: Amy's Vegan Lentil, Roasted Butternut Squash, Roasted Red Pepper... Cream of Mush. but I can't eat it now cuz of the cream.


FAVORITE VEGGIES: I love love love love them all! Most consumed: SPINACH, chard, zucchini, artichoke, carrot, beets, squash, onion, garlic, mushrooms, eggplant, cabbage, red pepper.


HATED VEGGIES: I love them all but I can't eat frozen ones unless it's edamame.
