Quote  |  Reply
Ohh, I love this stuff!! I haven't had it in FOREVER though. How do you guys feel about it? I would prepare it the way they suggest of course, just with a little bit of milk... would it be too bad for me? I need some replies... quick!

umm...I still like the occasion Kraft Dinner (thats Canadian for mac & cheese :)) there is a 'sensible solutions' way to prepare it on the box..it is quite high in calories for the lil serving you get though.
mmmmmmmm

I LOVE mac and cheese, so I'm curious to see what kind of responses this gets.

Hmm, yesterday I tried some elbow macaroni pasta with some light velveeta cheese. The velveeta box suggests 12 oz of cheese to go with 3 cups of macaroni (no, I didn't eat it all, lol), but I only used about 4 oz of cheese with two cups of macaroni, since I think velveeta is just tooooooo cheesy and I can't take it in large quantities.

It was still too cheesy. Next time, I'm going to only 2 oz with 2 cups of macaroni for a light cheesy taste.
Here's the nutritional info for one serving

http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/item/99 067.html

read it and make up your own mind as to how it will fit in with your daily allowance.  Pay close attention to the serving size!  That's just one serving , not the whole box.
My nutritional information was a little different, with less fat and more protein. I had some... omg... so good! And I didn't eat the whole bowl, only about a 1/3 of it. Yay!
I'm a huge mac n cheese fan.  But considering I should found the "hello my name is Sonja and I abuse M&C", I just can't get it.  It's just too difficult not to finish the whole darn box.

I make occassionally 2 cup bow tie noodles, 1-2 oz cheddar cheese, powdered garlic, salt and pepper.  I add cooked noodles to a skillet then toss in shredded cheese, salt and pepper. (hold the garlic powder til the end).  The cheese slowly melts then starts to crisp up.  I stir alot but keep it going as long as I can stand it.  I like lots of crispy parts --- not burnt, just crispy.  I shake powder on at the end.  (Garlic will burn and make it all bitter if added early on).

It's delicious and I can control the portions to a reasonable portion.
Mm, that sounds DELICIOUS!! I'll have to try it sometime ;)

That's exactly how I am with bread... my mom made a loaf tonight, and I just sat there and pulled off pieces and ate it... it was probably 500 calories worth of bread.
I like mac and cheese, but I'm not fanatical about it.  When I do eat the boxed kind, it has to be Kraft, though-- generics always taste more like the cardboard box they come in than cheese :-P .  I don't have too much trouble with portion control on mac and cheese, though, 'cause one of my housies is a total cheese freak.  She actually will eat the whole box if you let her, so she has no trouble finishing off whatever's left after I take out my portion.
I am a huge mac and cheese fan. I love both pasta and cheese and the two together are like a double pleasure moment for me... um yeah. But i've found a sensible solution that has portion and calorie control built right in! It's Lean Cuisine's Mac and Cheese! (yes I know, I'm a major lean cuisine fan and that is pretty much my answer to everything). It tastes pretty good considering it is a frozen meal. Plus you are limited to eating just one serving.
See?  You were able to have what you love and work it in to the whole picture!  Good for you!
