L Pull-ups and Chin-Ups

Quote  |  Reply

Has anyone ever done pull-ups and chin-ups in the L formation? This is where you do a leg raise and hold your legs out in front to get in the shape on an L. Then keeping your legs out, you do pull-ups or chin-ups. I had never tried these before, and I did them the other day for the first time. They are insanely hard. Not only did I feel it more in my back in arms than regular pull-ups/chin-ups by my stomach is killing me today. It puts a lot of pressure on your core to keep your legs suspended out in front of you. From now on, I am going to be doing pull-ups and chin-ups in the L formation. So much harder!

Here is a video of someone doing them :

Like a combo hanging-leg-raise + pullup?  I haven't done that exactly - but often after finishing a set of chins I'll hold on the last rep and do some abs.  Hard!

Check out the video that I provided a link for above.

You raise your legs up and hold them out in front of you while you are hanging from the bar. Then while you hold your legs out keeping yourself in an L formation, you do pull-ups or chin-ups.

Yeah, great - if not one of the BEST - exercises for core, too. It should stop a person from using momemtum...the key is to pull without any jerking until your head is over the bar. The set is terminated when the feet drop below the bottom. It's tough but when people aren't ready for L position I recommend they start by tucking their legs, or keeping them straight with the feet lower.
