I have been falling off the wagon. I don't know why! I have made a lot of progress. I have lost 17 pounds in one month and I have gone down one pant size and one shirt size. So, I don't get it. I have started eating sweets again (almost everyday) and in the past I would eat them in moderation....
I dont know what to do!

I have a few questions for you:
Where are you in your cycle?
How many calories a day were you eating when you lost the 17 pounds?
What is it that you are eating that's sweet? and how much?

Seventeen pounds in a month is a lot of weight lost very rapidly. What was your starting weight, and where are you now? I would guess that you have been drastically depriving yourself trying to lose weight quickly and your body/mind has now had enough.
You need to be healthy and smart about losing weight. If you like sweet things, then to stay satisfied on your diet you should satisfy that craving. A small candy bar or cookie will not set you back if you plan your meals right. Trying to cut out "bad" foods completely might work in the short term but eventually the cravings have a way of catching up with you.

I know this might sound sort of simple..but when I am dieting and really true to myself... You can really feel the affect of foods.. Fruit is a natural sugar and if you control portions..you might just get your sugar fix with a fruit every couple of hours... small apple, cup of grapes. orange.. stuff that is easy to transport... and keep on hand... Just try it for a day and see if it doesn't curb your cravings... toast and tbsp. of honey is so good when you come home and then go do something else.... gives you a lift so your ready to exercise after changing... I believe in small meals every two hours. ... I'm trying to stick to 1200 cal a day... everyone is different.. You just have to work out what works for you... But lets try to keep those 17 pounds OFF! You worked had for those.. Takes three months to make a good habit..just have to get into the right routine and we should be able to do this for the rest of your lives... I'm still working on the three months of a ...100% ..myself!... But I think we should be able to conquer this deamon....GOOD LUCK! ;-)
sorry bad link
Well, I started out at 229.5 and I am now 212.2. I have not be starving myself at all. I stay between 1200 and 1500. In the first month I would have something sweet maybe once a week and that was enough. Now, I find myself just wanting to snack. Boredom maybe? Anyway, coming into the second month of this I find myself wanting to snack. I will go into the kitchen and find something that I think will cure the snacking problem and then I just want more from there. Talking about it helps...
Here are some suggestions.
Plan your whole day of eating in advance and make yourself eat every 2-3 hours. Never go more then 4 hours without eating. When you do eat try to balance the meal so that its 20% fat 30% protein and 50% carbs. Eat close to your maintenance in calories and create a deficit through exercise.
Give up potatoes, white flour, white sugar, white rice any starch stuff for a week or two. I'm talking things that are high on the gylcemic index. Give up fruit too for a week or two. This will help get your eating under control and stop the cravings.
Make sure you exercise. Excercise can help you reduce cravings because of the endorphins that get released during a good workout.

Yes, boredom snacking is a killer! Boy do I understand. I wish I could give you better advice than try not to get bored. This is a huge problem for me as well. I've started taking whole psyllium in the morning with breakfast - it's dietary fiber - and it does help me feel full enough that I no longer crave a mid-morning snack. In the afternoons I usually only feel like snacking if I didn't have enough for lunch, so I try to make sure I have decent sized servings and at least one healthy snack option - yogurt or fruit, usually - in case I start feeling hungry again.
