Lacking Hunger?

Quote  |  Reply
Recently, I have been completely lacking hunger. Like I eat breakfast and literally have to force myself to eat during the day, because I feel no hunger at all. Otherwise, I am not sick or anything. Any ideas why this could be?

That's fine!  As long as the things you are eating are healthy and in appropriate portions.  But, keep on eating 5-6 small meals a day (that includes snacks).  Just KEEP EATING!!  Don't take this as a sign to not eat because then you won't lose weight and it's bad for your body.

Hope that helpsSmile

It's been happening to me recently too. If you REALLY want a cure for it.. have a treat. ;) It worked pretty good for me today. I really just didn't want to eat anything.. and i've been fairly low in the past couple of days too.

I didn't eat breakfast because I woke up late and had to rush out.. then for lunch I had 300 calories of rice and lentils. I knew I was not going to be able to eat all of my calories for dinner and evening snacks (the only high calorie food I have is PB, and I'm sick of it!) so I ordered out some chinese.

My appetite came back in a hurry, ha ha.

I think that the appetite goes away because when you are used to having only a little bit in your stomach anyway, it takes a lot more hunger to really trigger an appetite. That's what happens to me anyway. Plus when I get like that, I'm so intent on controlling portions that I can ignore the hunger until it goes away... problem is, if I do that a few times, the appetite just comes back less and less when I really SHOULD be eating.

Anyway.. yeah, plan a treat and see if that helps. =P

Really? I thought having absolutely no appetite was bad - I could go all day without eating and not notice, thats how weird it is. And eating is no fun without appetite... if for no other reason, thats why i want my appetite back:)
Try having a day soon where you eat a lot more than normal.   Go out for dinner, perhaps, or open a bottle of wine.  Sometimes your body can get used to less food and adapt accordingly.   Eating more can spark your appetite again.

Isn't it a sign your metabolism is slowing down? I thought hunger was a signal that it was working well? Do try & eat more though, your body needs the minimum to work properly & not do any damage to itself?

Hey hockeygirl this is so weird - i've been having the exact same problem the past few days too.  i usually eat about 1600 to 1700 calories a day and i've been forcing myself to eat 900 to 1200 since about sunday.  i think it might be stress-related for me - but i'm not sure what to do about it.  if it doesn't get better in the next few days i'm going to the doctor.  who knows - people get weird GI problems all the time... maybe we both have a parasite or something?  or maybe it's the change in the weather?

I read recipes... then plan to make one the next day. I LOVE baking! works for me everytimeLaughing

ew parasites... I sure hope not. that would kill my appetite permanently i think.
