For the ladies: Does anyone take or has taken Yasmin?
I just got put on it about a week and a half ago because of absence of my menstruation for over a year. I noticed that ever since I've taken it, I notice that I am hungrier more often, and I've been feeling so sad too. Like today, we had a Cross Country race for my highschool team, and when I got home, before dinner, I just started crying and crying and I have no idea why I started and I couldn't stop! And then I ate much more than I expected to eat at dinner, and I just feel so exhausted!
Has anyone ever felt this way? Is this common?
I feel soo fat too!
Sorry, I just had to vent...

I dont respond well to birth control pills. I tried different ones for 3 years and told my husband that he better cover it because I wasnt going through that kind of heck so he didnt have to pause in the middle.
They put me in the pills originally because I had ovarian cysts. I think its the doctors answer to everything possibly. Good luck with it. I was emotional, had headaches, gained weight, etc.

Hey, bep16
I'm on yasmin too. I've been on it for about 2 years now. To be honest i didn't really notice that much of an increase in appetite. I think the best way to deal with that is to not induldge the incresed appetite, and it will go back to normal in a week or so.
As for the emotional side of things, yasmin does do that. I asked my dr about it, and she said they hear that alot from patients in regard to yasmin. I find that the weekend before i finish my months supply, I'm alot more emotional, and prone to crying. I also found that i don't respond to stress as well. When i was very stressed at exam time or project due dates, i could just start crying, which isn't like me at all.
Apart from that though, i find yasmin better than any of the other i have been on. It doesn't cause as much bloating, sometimes i wouldn't get emotional bouts for months.

I've been on yasmin for a year and a half, and I've only had a few months where I get completely b**chy about stupid things, usually with my husband. This is the first b-c pill I've used, but I find it to be pretty good. I did have some spotting for the first month, though, which kinda' freaked me out. Otherwise, I love how I DON'T have such heavy periods, and all the bloating that I used to get is completely gone away...
My doc says that yasmin is a very-low-dose form of the pill, and that it sometimes takes a while to get used to it. I'd recommend you talk to your doc about the issues you're experiencing...

The ring may be another option for you. It is allegedly the lowest dose of estrogen you can get in a birth control. I personally could not take it. Even the ring made me bloated and borderline psychotic with the emotional swings. When my doc switched me to a progesterone only BC pill I was MUCH happier. The mood swings are not anything like with estrogen and I have periods now that are light and more normal. On the ring I had one five week long period stopped for two weeks and had a 3 week long one.... bleh, some of us just can't take estrogen.
I think this is the one that I am on. I hate it. I was given some free samples by my doctor to get me through until my insurance kicked in and it's different than my regular pill. My period is always really late with it and super light as in one day max. (I was usually not heavy before) Then sometimes as I think it's going away, it will come back. GRRRR. This is my last month with this pack and I'm so looking forward to my regular stuff again.
I have been taking Yasmin for about two years now. This is probably the 10th (no exageration) type of pill/BC I've tried in the last 6 years. I've noticed that it doesn't put on extra weight or bloating, no mood swings unlike the rest. But I have noticed that in the last few weeks/month I'm getting more headaches, that could be a hormone/chemical inbalance though. I'm also looking into the mini pill to see if that will straighten me out.
Everyone and their bodies respond different to BC pills just keep that in mind, noone responds the same. For example, a lot of people respond well to "the patch" I didn't. I stuck it on my thigh and about 10 hours later I was puckin' sick. Anyways, if that one doesn't work ask to try something else, you never know what could work for you!

Thanks guys, everyone was so helpful!
Yea and I just realized that I screwed up my cycle yesterday by taking one the night before and then taking a second one in the morning because I thought I forgot to take it, which would probably explain why I felt really miserable.

for yasmin it is common....i was on it for about 6 months & it made me very depressed....like exactly the way you were describing....i was changed to ortho-evra & i love d it till my doc put me on seasonale which is the freaking best b.c ever made n my opinion!!!! but probably wouldnt be ood for you since you need to get regualted....if it bothers you anymore with the depression & such ask you gyn to change you to ortho-tri-cyclene....my friends take that & they've had no problems with it...best of luck....
