Ladies: Anyone had vaginal bleeding after exercise?

Quote  |  Reply

After my work out today I went to change and notice blood in my underwear , this hasn't happened before but when I first started working out I got pain in my lower abdomen once or twice but I'm not sure if it's related. I also pushed myself harder today too if that has anything to do with it.

I'm not pregnant / period isn't due for 2 weeks so I'm worried. Anything like this happened to anyone else before?

Are you sure there is no way you are pregnant? Could it be your period is coming early? Are you having abdomen pain now?

You should probably go to the Doctor just to be safe.

Are you on birth control? It could just be spot bleeding.

No not on birth control or any hormones.

Have you changed up your exercise routine/diet drastically? I believe that can mess with your hormones.

Spot bleeding isn't uncommon, but if you want to be safe I'd go get checked.

Yeah I've started back exercising about 2 weeks ago and it was going well until today but I did push myself harder today - I did the three workouts on the Biggest Loser dvdback to back 10 mins on the stepper and 30 mintues of weights. That's the hardest I've pushed myself so far so it could be that. If it happens again tomorrow I'll see a doctor

I'm going through the same thing at the moment. Whenever I start up a new or heavy exercise routine, it sparks my period. So unfortunately, for me now, I will be having it for 3 weeks. Hurray. But yeah, it happens, don't worry.

I'm not sure if this is the same thing or not, but about a week & a half - two weeks after I started exercising and dieting, I had a bit of spotting.  I thought I was going to get my period early, but it was just for an evening. It really freaked me out but I mentioned it to my doctor and she said it was nothing to worry about.  I am on BC and I guess it's common.

spfan, how old are you?  This stupid bleeding happens to me every 2 weeks!Yell

But I am prob alot older than you. So I get a heavy period every 4 weeks and than every 2 weeks in between that I get gross spoting.  Especially after a hard work out. Just happened today after a long Spin class and then 40 minutes of  lifting after.  Yuck

It hasn't happened since so I have no idea what it was. Sure wasn't my ''virginity'' though Wink

i heard that if you haven't had sex in the last 6 months then your hymen returns. so maybe you ripped it while exercising?

I had the same thing happen to me over a year ago. It was my uterus dropping. I had to have a complete hysterectomy. The Doctor said when you do agressive exercise using the lower part of your stomach like set ups this can and does happen. Mostly to older women and I'm over the hill but active and love to exercise.Have this checked out ASAP.

This happens to me too. I am on the depo, but am not pregant or any of that noise. Not sure why it happens. Just think that maybe it sturs up my system. Just know that I am in the same boat. If you as a OBGYN, give me a PM and let me know why it was happening to you.

Thanks. Ignore all the pregnancy comments. I'm not pregnant either. We good.
