Ladies: Does this happen to you too?

Hello!

I'm at wits end. Again. Like clockwork... you know, each month...

I exercise, eat right and get in the groove of feeling great. Then, PMS... right into actual "period" week. It is so depressing. It feels as though it "undoes" all my efforts on so many levels. I wake up 4-5 pounds heavier, and that simply holds for the week before and then during my period. I know this is natural, and no cause for alarm... it's just that it holds for SO LONG that it feels like all my efforts are for naught when (by the 7th day) I'm still seeing all that extra water/bloat weight on the scale!

I just want to know if I'm alone in this, or if this is what happens for any of you out there? Do the numbers on your scale go up and hold as long as they do for me? What do you do to keep your spirits up?

Thanks so much for your time!

I used to always have a 5 pound gain.  I really started watching my sodium, and that has made a big difference.  Also, ibuprofen or aleve have helped me with general inflammation, and this may have helped too.  :)  Kelly
I know what you mean....  Have you tried taking a water pill?  I usually take a water pill on the first day of my cycle and then again on the last day of my cycle.  I also do not weigh myself during my cycle and this seems to work great for me.

Yes!  It's very frustrating!  I can't do anything to make it stop entirely, however, I have found that if I actually drink MORE water, it makes the bloating go away.  So, about 10 days before my period is supposed to start, I decrease my sodium intake, drink extra water to flush out the extra bloat, and decrease my intake of things that are dehydrating (like coffee, alcohol, etc).  It doesn't make it go away entirely, but it helps a lot.  I can definitely relate to your frustration though, because I feel like I'm bloated for about half of the month, because it starts literally 10 days before my period starts, and continues through the 1st 3 days of my period!  It's definitely discouraging!!
