ladies - jeans size 8 banana republic , what is your weight ?
I am 5'10", 135 lbs, and I wear a size 6 in BR. Unfortunately, the sizing at this store is not correct. I can go as small as a 4 in some pants (usually too short, lol), and as big as an 8 in other pants. The Gap and Old Navy are even worse as far as sizing pants wrong ... on the larger side. I have found that these three stores are usually a size off. For example, 4=6, 6=8, 8=10, and so on.
Has any one else noticed this?
So how would I know my correct size? do you go to other stores??I haven't had jeans in a long time and I need to know my current size. You are saying that 8=10. does that mean I am a size 10??
How tall are you? I would measure your waist to see what size you might be. Do you have other scales, such as at the gym, that you can compare?
I wear jeans all the time, lol, and I'm a 6 at BR, but a 4 at The Gap. Who really knows their true size. Tell me your height and waist measurements.
Banana Republic tends to size their clothes large, same with Old Navy and Gap, as the other poster said.
Take your measurements and compare them to this size chart: http://www.overstock.com/sizing.html
Comparing the BR size chart to the one I just gave you, BR's size 8 is the same as a size 10 at most other stores. Here's a link to BR's size chart:
On the first link I gave you. Below the sizes "small, medium, large, etc" it has the size number. The large sizes are 12 and 14.
Good luck with this safina1. How much weight are you trying to lose?
but am I size 14 jeans?? can you recommend a store so I can go and try something on?
lesmiserables1998: I gave you my measurements in the above post.
A size 14 sounds about right with your current measurements. The Limited or Ann Taylor have "truer" sizes. I wish you all the best in your quest to lose weight! What sort of plan are you on? I went from 170 lbs to 135, and I feel great! I have maintained this weight for several years now. I'd love to give you support or suggestions about what worked for me :)
anyway, thanks for the support. Yes, I would love to hear from you regarding your plans. what did you do ? and most importantly, how long did it take from you to lose the weight?
I would like to know what you did also, I am struggling a little myself.

Yes they are not consistent, also depending on cut and what not.
I am 5'11 (and 3/4ths) 138 lbs I have about a 26.25 natural waist and 36.5 hips.)
I can wear an 8 BR and have also worn a 4 BR, as well as an 8 old navy and also a 2 old navy. (usually need the longs, but sometimes can get away with regulars again depending)
This is a big laugh, I also have a pair of levi's size 0L (stretch), only tried them on because they were on a crazy sale, go figure they fit. (I also have a size 6 levis)
Sooooooo yes I totally agree even then same brand pants differ in size.
I would love to share my successes with you! I have to run into a meeting now, but I'll be back in a couple of hours. Please ask me any questions you may have, too.
Good for you, girl!! So what is your typical work day like? Are you active, or do you sit at a desk? How much time do you have for exercise on a normal day? Do you have "Peer Pressure" at work to snack or eat incorrectly? I just want to get an idea of your day, so I can relate my experiences. Do you have any binging problems/urges?
Sometimes it's OK totext in a restaurant.
