Hi all!

I'm Susannah's daughter.  Glad I made it in - the challenge sounds fun!  Yes, I hit the gym this morning (good news) but the pizza and beer party wasn't as kind to me as it was to Mom (bad news).  I'm up 2 pounds.  Waaa!  120 this morning.

Robin
I'm down 1 pounds 124 today!

my schedule was so thrown off today so I didn't get to go to the gym. With the way i've been eating, I'm surprised i didnt' gain any weight.
it looks like we have just about everyone that I'm aware of that's interested in joining the competition.
I will leave it open for 2 more hours for any new comers that want to jump in.

I will show you the final list tonight.

Thanks,
Ann
I just wanted to be clear on a couple of the rules for the competition.

1. Use the SAME scale for every weigh-in!  DON'T use one at home and then one at the gym.  Be sure to choose one scale and stick to it.

2. Weigh at the same time every weigh-in, (I think we're already all planning to weigh in the morning)

...any other rules anyone wants to add to the list that would make sure the competition is ligit?!  Am I missing anything that should be made clear before we get too far into it?

How many of you would be interested in posting before and after pictures?  If you would like to post a before picture get it on here within the next couple days, so we can really see a difference, not only at the end of the competition, but when you meet your final goal.  Whatever you decide to wear for the picture (if you want to do the picture thing), make sure it's something that will show a difference in the after picture.  (I can't really decide what I should wear yet for that picture, but will figure something out).

What do you guys think about having the prize be sending money to the winner?  Can you think of a better prize?  We better come up with one soon before we get too far into it.

Am I missing anything?

I should be getting ahold of a spreadsheet within in the next day or so that will keep track of everyones progress/weight and percentages and as soon as I do I will send it to you guys so you can all have it to look at!

Fun times!
Ann :)
How long is the competition going to run? I don't remember seeing that information posted up anywhere.
POLL QUESTION:

How many weeks should our Biggest Loser Competition last?

A) 4 Weeks

B) 8 Weeks

OR

C) Have 2 seperate 4 week Biggest Loser Competitions?

PLEASE VOTE ON THIS BY SIMPLY WRITING WHICH OPTION YOU WOULD PREFER.

Thanks,
Ann
Hi, I'm in the competition, running late getting to the computer today!  I weighed in at 126, so I lost a pound!

Ann, thanks for all this!  I'm still pondering a prize but am ok with money.  Maybe $10 from each of us?  How many are we?  About 10?

ittybitty...it's probably water weight :)

schandler...hope the soup was better today.  :o  Some spices are thermogenic (black pepper, tumeric, cayenne, ginger..), and maybe it has some in it!

jessvanscoy....not sure if I responded about low fat proteins.  I guess I like fish and chicken the most.  Tuna maybe.  I get chunk light tongol tuna, packed in spring water without salt, from Trader Joe's.  2 oz has 14 g of protein and zero fat.  Tongol is dolphin safe and lowest in mercury toxins.  I had 2 - 4oz turkey burgers for dinner.  (Protein overload, really!)  A whopping 44 g of protein with only 14 g of fat, if I'm calculating correctly.  Protein builds muscle.  Fats in avocado and nuts keep our skin nice.  Cholesterol is good for the brain.  Carbs, we need for energy.  So a balance at each meal is important to me.

Hope everyone had a skinny day!

Can I still jump in? Sorry, I ran out the door today before I could post, I had to drive from Nashville to Pittsburgh, it took way too long....

I was also hoping that my weight would stabalize, it was 127 this morning, but it was 126 about three days ago, either the past few days of skipping out on the gym defied the laws of biochemistry, or it's just water weight.
Hopefully, I go back down to 126 tomorrow, then I'll wiegh in as that, it might just be from a ton of salt, or cycling water retention and all that lovely girl stuff... overshare, sorry...

I'll check again tomorrow,

I'm all for two four week competitions, that way, I can stay motivated for longer, and new people can join at the start of the next one, so option C?

I'll check back in tomorrow, but for now, good night!

Here's the start for Tuesday :)

Have a good calorie-counting Biggest Loser competing day!!  WORK HARD and stick to it, you CAN DO IT!!!
I'm off to get the kids and myself ready to go to the gym!  I'm doing 4 miles today.  the first and last mile at normal incline, the 2 in the middle will be at an incline.  I'm PUMPED!!
Let's work it ladies!!!

Ann
Hey the money thing sounds good, if anyone has a paypal account it might be easier for me to send it to that what with being in the U.K. You guys will get a good deal with the exchange rate lol. Im doing quite well the last few days, better than normal anyway, me and the boyfriend are splitting up and my appetite has just disintegrated. But at least il lose weight! Hope everyone is marvellous xxx
Hi all,

I weighed in at 124.50 today. Not having a beer or 2 at night is going to be hard...

July 9th, here I come! And I'm happy to send in $10 for the pot.

Have a good day, everyone! I'm skipping the gym (bad Robin) and taking my little critter to an amusement park instead.  I'm hoping that between the walking and swimming at the water park, I'll get enough exercise.   If not, I'm sure the scale will tell tomorrow.

Robin :)
I'm in for $10. Pay pal works for me too.  $ is definately a motivator. I could use some new clothes for my great new body! LOL

today's been a great day. I spent two hours in the gym and have eaten only 800 calories and it's almost 5pm.
happy tuesday!

Jess- I have more protein ideas!

1) egg beaters save my life, i'm kind of a breakfast person... they are good if you mix with veggies and salsa especially, or add fat free cheese, or ketchup (if you wanna do the Pittsburgh thing)

2) for meats:
ground turkey- perdue or something make a 99% fat free version that I really like, I usually cook turkey burgers and toss fat free cheese on them, or make turkey chili with onions, chili powder, salsa, and peppers, also good to use for meatballs with pasta
chunk light tuna packed in spring water- low in fat, and i think there is a fat free mayo out? i dunno, i usually stick with the mt. olive sugar free pickle relish and have it in a wheat pita pocket
deli meats healthy choice makes lowfat versions of deli meat
if you really like burgers there is a beef called Laura's lean beef that is 96% fat free

3. other fun stuff
egg whites I know some people think it's gross to eat them raw, but you can get powdered ones, or egg beater egg whites and blend them into a fruit smoothie (dannon light and fit is nonfat, which is good to mix it with, and some bananas, or strawberries....yum...)
pancakes there is a pretty good lowfat protein pancake mix here http://www.calorie-count.com/recipe/1268.html
kashi GOLean they add protein to thier breakfast cereal, check out their cereal here for example http://www.calorie-count.com/calories/item/10 0734.html
nonfat cottage cheese so good.... there is even a fake cheesecake made with this that is alright, you have to add some extra splenda, and last time I did it I made it without chocolate, but it's ok actually, http://www.calorie-count.com/recipe/26241.htm l

haha, i think i'm kind of hungry...
But it was a good day because it started pouring after I got back from my run this time, lucky me!
Hi Everyone, The idea about the $10 is fine, I think I can dig up a paypal if we decide to use that. I have been eating alot today, but not too many calories so far, thinking about it though. Just had a lovely veggie turkey sandwich with lots of veggies. And am going to try something new for dinner--Miso Soup.

Off to the store to get some stuff for the soup. Oh, I rode my bike again this morning and had an explore of the possibility of riding to work one of these days. Problem is that it is so hot when I get off, up in the 90s...

Keep up the good work everybody!

Laura
Sounds like everyone's doing well, that's good!

Okay, so we'll just look into the paypal thing when the time comes.

EVERYONE, if you would like to have the excel spreadsheet to track your progress that I am using for everyone that is doing the biggest loser competition please send me a personal message with an email address that I can email you the attachment to.  We can thank a calorie-count member for stopping in on our threads.  She noticed that we were doing this competition and was kind enough to voluntarily send me this excel spreadsheet format with all the math already figured out.  All you have to do is enter in your weight at each weigh in.  Pretty Cool!

Laura, good job on the bike ride and counting those calories, you can do it!

Anetta, good for you going on your run!  I really like the Kashi as well, that's a good one.  It's quick, easy and very healthy.

MissK, wow 2 hours at the gym, good for you.  You better enjoy some more calories for the day!

Ittybitty, I hope your day at the amusement park was a blast!  That sounds like sooo much fun to me right now!

buffles, sorry to hear about the breakup, those are never fun, hope things start moving along soon enough!  Keep working hard with everyone!

I seriously thought I had WAY over eaten today by the way that I feel, but apparantly I was right within my 1400 range!  I can't believe it!  I ate an ice cream cone from McDonalds and had a sugar-free Rita's italian ice tonight, imagine that!  I looked up the calories for both and was really surprised at how low they were!  Rita's Large sugar-free italian ice is only 158 calories, can you believe that!  The ice cream cone was only 150.  Do you ever wonder if the companies say lower calories than it really is?  I wonder that sometimes.

Anywho, that's all for tonight for me.  I wish you all the best for tomorrow.

How can I make walking fun?

You have to find a way to make exercise fun or else you won't do it. If you walk indoors on a treadmill, I recommend moving outdoors into the fresh air... Read more
