Welcome any new comers that would like to join in our threads!
DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!!!!!!!!
Stick with the calorie counting, it will all be worth it in the end!!! Let's be healthy together!!
Wooo what a crazy few weeks 0_o
Between work maddness and just everything... o_o ... been nutty and I haven't been able to track to well (if at all 0_o) on Caloire Counter. I've been pretty good with food intake, but worse than my norm at the same time... I'm not overly concerened as I know I tend to eat right at the mimimum of what I should be with all the calories I burn from exercising daily. 300 calories more a day isn't going to affect me much heh.
Luckily I have figured something out about myself and running, I'm no where near the lvl my fiance' is with it hehe. If I run 2 days in a row, by day 3 my shins are trying to explode out the fron of my leg on the warm up walk and I normally can't make it more than 1 mile without wanting to cry. I've concluded I need to go running/jogging every other day or I'll burn myself out by day 3. I still lift everyday but for now I'm only running every other.
I haven't actually lost any weight, I went up by a pound+ ( my scale sucks hehe) I'm asuming it's muscle mass since I'm noticing my body shape changing for the better. Like my knee fats no longer hit each each other I've got clearance again and I can feel that I'm stronger than last week. At the gym I can no hold my own weight on the stomache machine (the one where you use your arms to support your weight and your feet hang) and do a few crunches :D.
Every week I see more and more changes!! It's exciting!

As it stands right now, I couldn't be happier. I've really been trying to fine tune some of the details...sodium...fiber...calcium... Who knew it was so hard to reach 1000mg of calcium a day.. I've pretty much gotten down the carbs/fat/protein thing. Definitely upped my water.. Pushing a little harder with exercise.
AND I behaved last weekend. So, my scale numbers are dropping... Looking back at the last month or two really... it's funny how spastic I've been about "I'm doing everything I can...and still nothing...something is wrong with me..!" (I really did have my thyroid checked) When the truth is...the cheating weekends...or extra glasses of wine....had all taken their toll.. It's true, every little bit counts.
It's hard when you work so hard during the week...and cannot fathom that you can undue it all in one weekend. But that's pretty much how it works.
Well that and truly paying attention to the tried and true advice given on these posts. Water, I think, matters. So does fiber...so does sodium. All of that can be overwhelming to someone who is simply trying to grasp a hold of counting calories. It would have been to me.
Well, that's my 2 cents for the day. :) Off to my sons football practice!
Good luck and best wishes for a great run, it's a remarkable achievement and I look forward to hearing all about it when you finally get back!!

Unfortunately restaurant food as a boatload of sodium in it so it's hard to distinguish the actual weight gain from water retention. Today I'm going to keep the sodium to a minimum, have a nice long bike ride, and eat lots of fruit and veg, and mostly stick to dairy for protein.
I'm still drinking my water everyday! My exercise schedule has been a bit off with going here and there, so I'm missing that. Are we all going to weigh-in tomorrow even though there's no competition?
Actually, I'm going to stay within my calories for today...but that's having to work around an 800 calorie Hardees detour. For me, it's definitely not just about staying within my calorie range...I also feel like if I didn't get my calories from healthy foods...then that's the same as going over.. Just makes me feel like crap.
So yeah, I'm all for a weigh in tomorrow. And when the number is up by at least 2.....I'll be able to say...uh yeah...hmmm...wonder why that is..
Hey guys. I've had a crazy weekend. My friends and her husband had a bad fight so she stayed with me, which meant a couple nights of wine and greasy food and popcorn and movies. I knew I wasn't doing so well but what can I say...a girlfriend is more important than weight loss.
Next week WILL be a good week!! :)
5000angel - You're not eating so well reason was about as good of a reason as I could think of. I'd do that for a friend too.
Figurethefat - The sodium fator has snuck up on me a few times last week too. Progresso has a great soup Italian Vegetable...120 calories for the whole can....umm 1640mg of sodium too. What! Even 1/2 the can is not really worth it. Sheesh....I'd feel guilty feeding them to my family, even...I'd feel guilty throwing them away too...So their destiny is to become a permanent part of the pantry.
Wantotobefit and Hot - Congrats on your marathon. I can't imagine how proud you must be. Hopefully the heat didn't factor in for you all..
I think drinking lots of water and exercising (working up a sweat) helps to counteract sodium overloads.
Hope everyone had a good weekend :)
Hi All - Happy Monday,
Weighed 127 this morning - same as last week. I thought I would have been up from last week because of the steriods but thankfully not. It probably helps that I drink so much water.
Thanks so much for your encouragement and positive energy; it definitely helps. I'm finally getting used to the new medications so hopefully I will stop going off on everyone (I know my husband would like that); betewen the tears and angry outbursts I must be making the man crazy
.
i am at 124.6 now on saturday i was 123.0 but becuase of improper eating i gained that 1.6 lbs :)).... take care now...drink lot of water

I actually got engaged in late August and you would think that would be motivation for me to stick with my healthy eating plan, but it hasn't. And I can feel and see the difference my poor eating decisions have caused me. I feel tired, cranky and depressed. All the things I hated when I was heavier and eating poorly.
Guess I'm just looking for a little inspiration and motivation to get me back on the right track and in the right frame of mind.
Welcome back! I gained a little weight immediately after I got engaged as well. I got motivated when I started trying on wedding gowns; you'll find your motivator as well. CC is definitely a good place to start (or re-start). Congratulations on your engagement and good luck!
Well I weigh in at 136.2 today. Up a pound from last week but that was what i expected. I'm on track to being good this week though! Yesterday I cooked up some fish and other foods to eat throughout the week so that I won't have an excuse to eat out, and today when I didn't have much choice (teacher staff development day - no place to put a cold lunch) I chose to eat Subway and stay on the healthy choices! I swear the first 7lbs I lose was so much easier than it is now!
lilness - welcome back!! We are always here to give encouragement and inspiration! There are days i know I wouldn't keep going if it wasn't for this group! Congrats on teh engagement by the way! I know that you can lose that weight again! You did it once...you can definitely do it again!! :)
Original Post by figurethefat:
I'm more of a lowfat eater, so keep the fat percentage at around 20% or less, protein about the same.
Lately I've been noticing that I eat around twice as many protein grams as fat grams, which makes the protein and fat percentages about equal. I eat carbs, healthy ones! You might want to try some fine-tuning on your daily eating and see what happens.
Thanks for the recommendations. I've been trying to eat more last week, not much maybe 200 more a day to compensate for excercise. I am pretty sure that's my problem. At least I am not gaining :) I was afraid of that. So how can I fine-tune my diet? I try to watch fat too, so I looked at my analysis and I eat about 35% fat, 27% protein and 32% carbs... Sodium is around 1000 and fiber is 20. What are the recommendations? I definitely drink a lot more water now and haven't been using salt for years...
Does anyone use "intuitive diet"? Sounds good but after a glass of wine or a stressful day my body gives me all the wrong signals :)
Ok, so I had a bit of a google and found this Nutrient Calculator
Have a look here. I like the Low Fat diet ratio, but there are several options.
I had a good day today, but busy so I'm tired, plus I stayed up till midnight last night :/ Ate a good amount of calories, around 1,600 with 16% fat/19% protein/65% carbs. Also got in a good walk and bike ride.
Had an awesome morning, very hyped up and doing lots of stuff: baked tofu, made marinara sauce, made a tofu stir fry to take for lunch at work, biked 70 minutes, walked 40 minutes, picked up dry cleaning, ate heaps of healthy stuff and now off to work. Still drinking the water. How's everyone else going?
I think I've finally added a bit of muscle, and maybe still lost some fat because I'm hanging right at 111. Stick with the healthy eating everyone and make sure you're getting some kind of movement in everyday even it it's just parking the car some extra distance when you go to the store!
