I'm impressed with your running too, Ann! That's fantastic. Are you training for a whole or half marathon? I have some friends entering in several 5ks this summer, and hope that I'm in shape enough to do that by the end of the summer!
Sherry - great will power at the party! They are definitely the hardest. Last night I went to an end-of-the-school-year party & definitely did NOT do as well. I ate pizza (the really gooey, greasy, thick crust kind), and drank three vodka & crysal lights. Other than having a headache (!) this morning, I was worried about my calorie count. But after putting everything in it was just about 1700... still under what I burned, but I'm certainly going a little easier today. Reading your posts has motivated me to exercise this evening, even if its only for a slow steady walk.
On a good note, I had a woooohoooo moment yesterday like you Flo. My scale dipped below 125!!!!! I haven't seen these numbers in a loooooong time! High five!
I hope everyone's weekend are going great!

Ann- 9 miles! Wow! I really want to maybe try for a half marathon once I hit my maintainence weight, I usually can get in about 4 a few times a week though, but 9! I've never run that many in my life, that's awesome!
Flo- Awesome! That's the best feeling to see your goals realized in measurable quanities, it reaffirms the motivation!
Ittybitty- Hope you feel better and you can take the weekend to relax and recoup.
Jess- Wait to go on your numbers as well!
Ha, I'm kind of jealous of everyone that has a scale, I really wanted to bring mine on vacation, but I didn't want to face the awkward family questions of why do you have that? (they are kind of skinny, I mentioned to my sis that I was gonna try and get in shape and she replied, god, what are you like 35?) Especially since most people here love to gossip, favorite topic at the moment, my cousins eating disorder she developed at college, I don't want to worry them.... I wouldn't know how to convince them that I am doing this the healthy way, they would still worry...
But on that note, I'm so proud of everyone in this group for even just realizing that there is a right way to do this, and we are all commited to being healthy and making a lifestyle change instead of searching for a quick fix. It's wonderful to have such positive influences!
Focusing on working on healthy eating for the rest of the weekend, hitting my calorie goal, plus half of whatever I use working out. On that topic, I'm curious how everyone works with the whole eating back theory, I see it everywhere on the post boards. Do you guys aim for a certain deficit? Just curious to see how other people are doing this math mumbo jumbo :)
Hope everyone has a fabulous rest of the weekend!
(also, I just found this Edy's light slow churned ice cream, 100 cals and 3.5 g of fat for 1/2 cup, awesome, if anyone has ice cream cravings, I highly recommend this fix)

Congratulations Flo and Jess on the weightloss, those milestones are amazing, especially when we have gone through times when we thought it was never going to happen! Way to go Ann with the running!
I came home from work yesterday still feeling a bit off from the party the night before. I sat outside in the hot weather for about a half hour and then went inside and did my full hard workout. It felt so good, and I finally sweated the last of the booze out of my system!
I went for a 40 minute walk today, its very hot here again today and I should have got going a bit earlier like Ann. I need to buy a bike someday also...we even have a bit of a bike path right behind our house.
You are doing super anettabon, I think its tremendously difficult to diet on vacation with relatives! I will have this coming up myself next week with 4th of July family get-togethers and then a wedding to go to.

Hi Everyone
I think I did everything right today, rode my bike for an hour, and ate well. I love the food log and analysis at the end of the day. I'm eating healthier than I have in quite a while, and staying away from processed foods as much as possible. I use the recipe analyser but know that I have to be a bit wary. Ingredients like beans, rice or pasta always seem to default to their "raw" form, so they have to be hunted up individually. It all seemed a bit too hard at first, but it's getting easier the more I use it. I got my bike gear shifter replaced today so am planning a really long ride tomorrow morning.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Good morning, ladies!
So, yesterday, I was doing REALLY well with my calorie counting. For breakfast, I had blueberries and a 2% cheesestick, and for lunch, I had two grilled cheese sandwiches made with fat free cheese and light wheat toast (only 130 calories each and mighty delicious when cooked with the George Foreman!) and some carrots and hummus. I even ran three miles at the gym afterwards! Afterwards though, my loving boyfriend took me out to Red Robin for dinner. I ate the Gardenburger which was REALLY delicious, but what I went crazy on was the bottomless steak fries! AH! To top it all off, we shared the most AMAZING hot fudge sundae for dessert... I thought I had fallen off the wagon for sure!
After counting my whole day up though, I ate 1970 calories, which is HUGE but still under 2000, so I guess that's okay. I suppose I can call it my "maintenance" day... haha. I just have to behave myself today so that hopefully, I'll stay at 129 for tomorrow's weigh in! It'll be difficult, considering my boyfriend's family is having a BBQ today... eep!
Hang in there, skinny ladies! We've got this! =)

Congrats Flo!!! Wow....I think you'll hear me screaming if I ever break 130. Why does the scale stick there?? Nice job!! Whatever you're doing, keep it up!
Jess, you too!! Nice going!
I might have to rename myself "fatso." My scale won't budge under 130, and I really don't know what to do differently. I can't eat any less, and I can't move any more. My joints are too sore from the running this week. Calories have lingered around 1400 all week. I suppose I could cut to 1200....but then I lose energy.
Ok, I'm done complaining, and will just sit her quietly until I figure this out. :(

Good morning ladies,
I can relate to what you say Susannah. I have been struggling to get back to 120 for the past 2 years! Everytime I crack 125 I get stuck at a plateau, I let up, and start eating the bad stuff again. So far this week I have lost 1 1/2 lbs, and I'm really hoping by the weighin tomorrow a.m. it will be 2!! I've read several posts in the forums about plateaus, and how long it can take to break through them, so hang in there!
I took my mega bike ride this morning--out for about 2 hours. I'm not going that fast, only about 11 mph, but feel pretty good when I'm doing it.
Drink lots of water everybody!
Laura

I think I've figured out that milestones can be dangerous as well as exciting! Yesterday, after the scale said 124, I decided to celebrate and have steaks for dinner (lean red meat is ok every once in a while, right?), and some sauteed peppers and onions, with long grain rice as a side dish. Then... some homemade strawberry shortcake (I didn't sugar my berries though!). It felt like a feast after all the dieting... my calories ended up close to 1800, but more imporantly I felt so unbelievably bloated!! This morning too. I know I have to be careful about those days when I feel like splurging - even though I was careful to choose lean meat and good side dishes, it seems like those would be foods to eat when I've reached my goal weight and am maintaining.
I have to say, this is one of the hardest things I've ever done! You are all inspirations, thanks so much for the encouragement and help!
Susannah, keep up all the good work your'e doing - I like Laura's idea about reading other forums about plateaus... I've been looking around for the "falling off the wagon" ones!
I'm trying to figure out the new camera I got... as soon as I do, I will post a "before" picture in my profile - I need some motivation to get to an "after"!
Here's to weighing in light tomorrow!

Laura- Wow, I'm impresed with your mega bike ride, 2 hours is a long time! Thanks for the water reminder, I just got back from a walk in the sun, perfect timing.
Susannah- Hope you figure it out, I'm sure you will get over the plateau, sometimes you just have to wait for your body to adjust, there is some information on plateaus on this link

it's fun reading everyone's posts!
susannah, hang in there, sometimes it might just take a little time to budge, but I'm sure it will start showing up if you stick to it!
Jess, good job on sticking with the calorie counting, even though we ALL know it's not always easy! good luck with the new camera :) I actually took some pictures, but I can't get a good one, they're blurry, or just a little off looking, it doesn't help that I'm taking it in the mirror :)
Laura, you can do it this time!! that's my struggle too, I always let up when I get to my goal weight, but this time I plan to nip that in the bud and continue counting calories after I reach my goal weight. I will just get to eat a few more calories though since it will be maintenance.
Flo, good job that you are still counting. It helps to realize that hey, it really wasn't that bad of a day after all :) Like you said, a maintenance day:)
Schandler, good for you working out, it always feels sooo good to workout, especially when you feel a little off from not eating how you typically do.
to answer someone's question...I can't remember who asked after all this reading :)...I am training for an actual 26.2 mile marathon. I can't wait to run it :) I'm flying out to Las Vegas and then driving to St. George to run the St. George, UT marathon. My brother and sister are both meeting me out there to run it as well. It should be great fun :) it's crazy how your body just begins to be able to build up to running more and more miles. It's weird cause i wonder if I wasn't doing as many miles if I would lose weight even slower than I am right now, because right now it feels sooo slow.
Weigh in is tomorrow morning!! AAHHH!! I'm nervous!! I haven't weighed myself all week. I always fear gaining weight!!! I also fear the scale!! I hope I didn't gain weight!! I think I fear gaining weight because it's like I'm working really hard, so if I do, then it's like what can I do that will work? I suppose that's how people feel when they hit a plateau. Scale, PLEASE be nice to me!! lol. Okay, had to get that out of my system:)
I will see you all on here tomorrow and can't wait to find out everyone's progress! good luck everyone!!!!
Night,
Ann

Hi everyone,
It sounds like everyone had a good weekend. susannah, I'm sure the scale will move soon! It certainly seems to take at least a week for me to lose a pound! I really feel like I am in a zone now though, with my body being accustomed to 1200 - 1400 calories a day. I am determined to get to 115 pounds! The exercise is helping so much.
I exercised a lot for me today, doing my regular hard workout and also walking for 45 minutes. Its so nice outside walking at sunset listening to my ipod that I couldn't resist. Plus its the new active me! I think short people are wise to be active as we don't need as many calories to keep our short little bodies running! I don't add back the exercise calories and eat them as I feel the weight lose would show to less than a pound a week. I probably eat 100 more in calories on hard workout days though.
I guess I should admit sometime that my "regular hard workout" that I do every other day is the DVD of Cindy Crawford - The Next Challenge. It is the best workout DVD, not cheesy at all, and I love it so much that I've been doing it for years. Great music, great scenery, great workout. Check out the ratings on amazon, 5 stars out of 5 with well over 100 reviews. I recomend it for days when its too hot or too cold outside or when you don't want to go to the gym. Sherry

Thanks for all the encouragement! You guys are the greatest!!
I WISH this was a plateau, but it's actually a REALLY SLOW START! :D I want results, and I want them now! :D I lost 2 pounds the first week, but I had cut calories too far for a few days, just to get things started. This week I went up to 1400, but I can see now that's got to come down. I probably over-estimated my physical activity. It seemed like a LOT to me, but it's probaby considered "light." I've upped my goal to 125, instead of 120, and I need 1328 calories per day to make that by Aug 11, the day of my high school reunion. So, I guess that's about a little less than a pound per week. This will be ok...still difficult... and I'll have to lose the other 5 pounds after the reunion.
Ann, exactly, when I see the scale not moving, and I know I'm doing all I can, it's very discouraging. Ittybitty helped today by re-telling the story of a woman she knows who lost over 60 pounds. Her first couple months, she lost nothing! And then the weight just started dropping off. The same thing has happened with ittybitty, too. (OMG...she really IS getting *ittybitty!!*) And the funny thing is that at the beginning, when she wasn't losing anything and was working very hard, I was the one who told her to keep going. Tables have turned now. :D
Thanks all and good luck on the scales tomorrow!

Monday June 26
Good Morning!
It's weigh in day!!! Post your weight on here for Monday morning! The week sure went by quickly!
My weight: 129
I'm a little sad about that, but hey, it's a loss right? Hopefully one of these days I can lose 2 pounds in one week! Maybe I should lower my calorie intake a little bit as well. I'm thinking that might be necessary. It just feels weird to lose only one pound because when I lose weight I usually always lose at least 2 pounds per week. Maybe it's cause I haven't really tried to go much lower than 129 ever. This shall be an adventure :) Since my first day of calorie counting I have lost a total of 8 pounds. I guess I should look at the whole picture, 8 pounds is a good amount.
Jess, thanks for the tip on the workout video, it's always nice to have a back-up if weather and etc. isn't the best.
Susannah, thanks for sharing about the lady who didn't lose for 2 months, it's always good to hear motivational experiences of other people. It helps to keep working when you feel like things are going soooo slow!
I wish you all the best with your weigh-ins today! I'm heading to the gym in a little bit. Maybe this week will be a bigger loss for me. I really think if I drank more water it would help a lot. That's my goal this week. More water!!!
Ann

Good morning, all! I'm at 129 this morning.
Ann, I totally get what you're saying about feeling as if you should have lost more. My first two weeks of dieting and exercising, I lost three pounds in each of those weeks! Now it's like, "WHAT?! I only lost a pound?!" I'm confident thought that with time and patience, our goal weight will definitely be met! I can't wait for that day!
Jess, do you know what retail stores sell that DVD? I'd be interested in purchasing it!
Good job doing what you're doing, ladies!
Flo

hey everyone. I'm at 123 today. one pound down from last week.
I guess that's not too bad i tend to lose weight very slow. I did a sesson of high intensity interval training on Friday and I could really tell the difference in my metabolism. I think I'll be doing that a few times a week. It's really hard but so rewarding.
Pretty: I site called collagevideo.com sells all sorts of DVDs. When Can't get to the gym, I swear by my minna lessig dvds. a few years ago i did one every day just to stay in shape i ended up losing about 10 pounds in 6 months with little effort. The problem was that I stopped and it was hard to get back into the routine. I quit working out consistently for about 4 years and thus the weight came back. Bordom does set in for me--so i don't use them as much...but they're still fantastic. I have Fat Eliminator and Strength and Grace.

Hi Everybody
I weighed in at 128 this morning!
I'm happy to see a 2 1/2 lb. drop this week, but very wary of having some "up" days in the very near future. It seems like these good-loss weeks are fleeting. A month ago I was at 125 for 2 two days, such a giddy time and I felt so good, that I stopped paying attention to what I ate! I hadn't been dieting for about 2 weeks when we started, meaning I was stuffing my face with Del Taco and chocolate bars, so part of this week's loss could have been water.
Being part of a group really helps. I've learned that I have to eat enough calories to keep my metabolism going, but not so many that I store the extra as fat. Such a balancing act. Hope everyone has a great weighin today, and a terrific week ahead of them.
Cheers, Laura

Good morning! I'm holding steady at 124 this morning... I guess the weekend's indulgence didn't do too much damage! yippee!
I'm going to try to keep my daily calories between 1300-1400 this week. I'm seeing a bunch of old friends from high school this weekend, who are coming into town for a wedding. Kind of like a high school reunion, Susannah - I know how it feels to want to look good! I wish I had started earlier to get to my goal weight... but I do think the positive things we've all done so far do a lot to helping our mental beauty!
I actually think Sherry (schandler) mentioned the workout DVD. Thanks for the suggestion... our weather is so up & down in upstate NY (this week is supposed to be HOT, while the past few days barely got above 70!); its miserable exercising outside when its too hot. I don't live close enough to a gym for it to be convenient, but I have a treadmill and am always looking for other ideas to stay cool while working out!
Ann & Miss K & Flo... good job on the losses! Every little bit gets you closer to your goals!
Have a great day

Laura... you posted while I was still typing, great job on the 2 1/2 pound loss! I hear ya about the balancing act, I'm definitely there too!
I weighted in at 125, so I'm down a pound from last week!
I'm happy with a pound, but I really have to keep thinking that it is a slow process when you've been watching what you eat for awhile and when you are only 10 or so pounds from your goal weight. The less you weigh, the less calories you need - sad but true! I keep the protein up to help stay full. Exercise I think is key for losing the weight faster so you can get to your goal weight and up the calories to maintenance.
Ann, I think water really helps me stay full and make it to the next meal. I use those 32 ounce Nalgene bottles that sporting goods stores sell. I have about 5 of them so I have better odds of having a clean one. I drink one between morning and lunch (not allowed my lunch til I'm done with it), one bottle between lunch and dinner, and one between dinner and bed. So the 3 bottles is about 100 ounces for the day. I run the bottles through the dishwasher, but be sure to take the tops off and put in the little cage thing (if your dishwasher has for lightweight items) or handwash. The unscrewed tops hang too low on the bottom rack of the dishwasher and I had one touch the heating element and melt!
I bet that Cindy Crawford exercise DVD I mentioned would be hard to find stocked at a retail store. It really is good, waaay better than anything other exercise dvd I have ever seen.

Great job, all you losers!! Keep up the good work! Even just one pound lost means that you're doing all the right things. The only challenge is to keep doing what you're doing.
Any of us who haven't lost anything, like ME (still at 130 today), must re-evaluate what we're doing and make necessary changes. I'm cutting my calories to 1200 per day, and getting back to my regular workout routine, maybe adding some yoga. Like Clinton says (of Clinton and Stacey), good posture can create the illusion of losing 10 pounds, and if I can't really lose them, I can at least pretend I did! :D
