The one place it's cool to be called a loser. :)
I'm down 4 to 116 this week. BUT, I've been sick and had no appetite all week, so I'm fully expecting a couple of those to crawl back on once I feel better and more like eating again. Not that I?m inviting them back, but I know how that goes.
Go, Susanna, you can break the slow start! You?re getting slimmer, just not lighter yet.
Keep at it, ladies. Go, go, go! (picture me jumping up and down waving pom-poms)

Okay ladies. so far I have 8 people's weigh-in numbers for today. I still need 5 more. If you don't post your weight by 8 a.m. EST on Tuesday June 26th, I guess we will just count you out of the competition for this round. I think that's fair. What do you all think? I'm open to what you all think is fair. Another thing I thought I might mention is to make sure to give the whole number, like if you weigh 115.4 type it just like that, don't round up or down, type it exactly how it appears on the scale. If any of you have any comments or questions about that please post it. Let me know what you all think about the above.
Good job everyone on all the losses and on all the hard work this week! It looks like you're all doing well.
Laura, 2.5 pounds, that's excellent, way to go!
Sherry, thanks for the tips on the water. I was actually going to ask you all how much water you drink a day. Today I ended up drinking 1.5 liters. It feels like a TON of water, since I rarely usually drink it! I am sooo stuffed! I hope I can adjust to this water intake:)
Robin, 4 pounds! WOWSERS!! I envy you! Although, it probably wasn't the most pleasant way to lose weight. Hopefully your body will get back to "normal" with everything.
Keep up the good work everyone!
Night,
Ann

Hi sorry i'm late with my weight, i was 128 yesterday i just havent been near a computer! I'm down a pound which i guess is alright!
Great water advice Sherry! I filled up one of the 32 oz. nalgene bottles after breakfast and will drink it before lunch! My only problem with drinking so much (especially between dinner and bed) is that I have to go to the bathroom so much!! lol
I haven't been working out that much because of the heat, and I'm painting our bedroom, so that's taking up a lot of my time. I'm also sweating like crazy and my muscles are sore - I wonder if its burning many calories. I don't feel like I'm "working out" as much as if I went for a bike ride or walk or run, but I'm too tired to do those things! Hopefully I'll get it done soon & can get back to my regular schedule because without doing the regular aerobic exercise, I feel like I'm slipping...
Have a great day everyone!

Morning everyone. I'm running a little late on posting today. I started writing earlier and forgot (I got sidetracked by the kids). Then we went to the gym and straight to swimming lessons. woo wee!
I will have all the info. about everyone's weight loss for the week posted later, just so you can see it at a quick glance rather than searching through posts.
Buffles, got your info. thanks.
So including buffles there are 9 of us that have posted our weights. Not a bad turn out :) If you missed this week, just jump into the beginning of our next months competition and please by all means still come and add to our posts! annetta, didn't you say you don't have a scale or something? I feel kind of badly, I don't want anyone to be excluded from the game if there were reasons that they couldn't help not posting their weight. let us know what's going on with all of you! We hope for everyone to continue with their weight loss and to come here for motivation and support!
So, all of that water yesterday really paid off today! I'm SOLD on drinking water! I had one of my better runs today and I sweated WAY more than usual. I believe it's cause I drank so much water yesterday. I think it really made a difference in my workout.
Hey Jess, I have the same problem with running to the bathroom all the time when I drink a lot. I just read somewhere yesterday though that your body will eventually adjust and start going to the bathroom less times throughout the day but each time you go, you will go for longer. Your body learns to hold more liquid for longer I suppose. Did that make sense? I'm hoping this will happen for me! Painting is exercise too! Just get your painting finished that you need to do, count it as your exercise and then get back onto your schedule...don't worry! I'm sure you're burning calories from it, it definitely is very tiring!

I am getting tired of counting and measuring. Was going to do a exercise/water drinking challenging but I just can't be bothered with more counting! Sorry to sound so negative. I do feel great after my bike ride this morning.
Glad to hear about the water Ann. I have to force myself to drink it but I think if I do that enough it will be come a habit. I like to think it gives my body a good flush and helps get rid of excess sodium.
I can't seem to control weighing myself everyday so am asking my daughter to hide the scale till next Monday. I hope the people who haven't weighed in/checked in are doing ok.
Have a good skinny day everyone!

Hey everyone! I hope things are going well! Ugh, like I don't have a problem working out..and I'm actually decently muscular but I just need to chisel some areas and my body type is not made to be skinny at all cause of genetics in my family(i tell myself this but i still compare my self to skinny people). But I just snack to much sometimes. Like I come home for work and grab like a few pretzels or a granola bar and eat half on the way to the gym and the other half on the way home from the gym(so its lke 100 cal snack or so). I spend like 2 hours at the gym and them I come home and eat dinner. Then like a couple hours later I usually read before I go to bed and want something to eat and I get like some pretzels or cheerios(some type of cereal ususally but with out milk..I am addicted to cereal for some reason) and I eat a couple of servings, which puts me up like 200 more cals than I wanted for the day, but with that added in its not over the amount of cal I would burn sitting around all day, but I know this is slowing my weight loss. And like a couple years ago I stopped eating pizza, ice cream, fast food, red meat, things like that and I don't have a desire to eat it or want to...maybe cause I haven't had it in a long time so its not like I crave it or anything. But I'm thinking that I will make a bowl of sugar free jello(10 cals for like 1/2 cup) and when ever I want a snack just get a bowl of jello and water with the sugar free crystal light mix and do that. When I snack, I don't snack on bad foods...its usually foods that are pretty healthy but I eat too much of it. Ugh and I hate my legs! They are so unproportional, like I have bigger thighs but they are like half muscle but I hate the upper thigh and butt area. But then like my calves are all normal sized and pretty sculpted (i think cause of running) Sorry for the vent, I guess I just need to control my snacking even though its not on bad or unhealthy foods. I think I need to change my diet somehow, but I don't do our grocery shopping cause I'm living at home for the summer with my parents while working at my internship. Anyway, I hope everyone is having a good day so far!

Sorry, that last post didn't turn out how I thought it was going to look. It's a bit confusing. Next week I will try to do it so it's a lot more clear to read.
Laura, something that helps me with the counting and measuring is I don't eat too much variety. I'm not sure if you do or not. This way I begin to just automatically know how much is in what. I know it's probably not too fun though to eat the same things all the time. I hope it gets better for you!
Arnold, nice to see you post. Just keep working at it. I hear you about cereal, that is like one of my FAVORITE foods ever!!! I haven't eaten much of it in the past few weeks. Just some Kashi. I have a lot of favorite foods though!!
Is anyone else wondering how long they're going to be able to eat this healthy? I'm wondering how long this is going to last for me?! Do you think once we get to our goal weights we can pig out like once a week? lol. I'm kind of looking forward to a "pig out" session. I haven't eaten this healthy for this long in years!!! I hope to stick with it, I'm wondering if I will actually be able to become a "health nut". It appears that's what it takes in order for me to get to my weight. I'm really curious to know what life will be like once I get there?
Hope everyone has a good night!
Ann

lol, flo you're so funny! It's okay! (I just posted something like an hour after I wrote it, so that's why I didn't respond to what you had written.)
honestly I think one day will be fine!!!!!!!!!!! Just jump back on board manana! You're awesome!

Flo, get back on the bandwagon! It's really not a big deal, its only a big deal if you give up and eat like a maniac for two weeks or more then finally weigh and you have gained 5 or more pounds (true story, done that quite a few times!).
I was feeling depressed about this whole battle today too actually. Was sick of being half-way hungry and wanting to eat snacks in the afternoon at work, grabbed a package of honey-coated cashews that I had in my desk drawer from a few months ago. They were not even good - too sweet and pretty yucky - but I ate them anyway. I felt full half way through, but still kept eating the yucky things. Then I was really sickly feeling and depressed and didn't feel like working out after work like I was supposed to. I played my inspiration CD in the car on the way home from work, its Madonna's concert CD. I saw Madonna in concert for her last two concert tours and that woman is a workout inspiration. So anyway, I decided about a month ago that the live concert CDs I have were going to be my "drive home from work when I know I need to work out and I don't really want to CDs." I think the CDs make it a bit easier to get out of the car and immediately go change into my workout cloths. I did workout and feel better. The scale is very depressing at times and this is a slow battle though.
I've been thinking of what my maintenance life will be like also. I already printed out a calendar page and put it by my scale so I can weigh and record it everyday. I'm going to try to do that forever (grand plan, ha), and if it goes over by 3 pounds, back to counting calories. I've also been thinking about how I will have dessert days when I have low cal dinner fish nights. Dreaming! JUST NEED TO GET THERE FIRST!

phew... I just made it through 96 ounces of water for the day. Sherry, again I have to say the nalgene water bottle was a great idea. It helps to reduce the "omg I have another thing to keep track of" factor. Ann, it makes total sense that our bodies adjust to the water. I imagine our bladders stretch, just like our stomachs!
I hope all you who are struggling stay strong. I know I had a tough weekend of indulgence, and it was soooo hard to get back on track. Being part of this group definitely helped me though. And once I did it, I feel better. I thought I blew my whole workout schedule, but tonight went for a run & had the fastest, longest run since I've started this whole thing! I know that keeping busy helps me not think about being hungry, and gradually I hope to let go of my obsession with food. We just need to look at ourselves realistically and tell us we are worth the effort to be healthier!
Sleep well everyone, and have a great night & good morning tomorrow!

Ah! Sorry, I meant to post yesterday, but I had to drive to Boston, and the internet cut out, and dah, it was just a terrible day today and yesterday, I'll do better with a more reliable internet source at my apartment when I go back home....
Anyway, I weighed in at 125.5 on Monday morning.
Alright, it's only half a pound, but I'll take anything right now.
And Monday, after wiegh in, I was feeling slightly dissapointed that I didn't do better, but I went shopping with my family, didn't feel as out of place and self conscious as I normally do, and actually got a pair of size 4 pants! I was like a 10 this past winter, the 4 is still a bit tight, and I want to get back down to my 2s, but progress, wahoo! Since then, I've been kind of upset about some other things, and sort of did horrible with my eating habits today, complete binge on everything, but tomorrow, I refuse to do that again, I've worked too hard to self sabotage my efforts just because I'm sad for a day, that's just not a reasonable reaction.... So tomorrow, determined to hit my calorie goal number, and excited for my run, or maybe a bike ride. I'll check back in, you guys keep me motivated, and everyone, GREAT JOB ON MONDAY NUMBERS!

I do not like being last on the list. It puts me in a bad mood. :) No, really.
Ann, to answer your question about eating healthy. Yes, I know I'll be eating healthy after this is done, because I always do. That's probably why I maintain the weight. Ok, I didn't lose, but I don't gain either. I'm 58 years old, 130 pounds, and I look hot. No gray hair. No sad, sagging face or neck, and barely a wrinkle. I'm planning this 40th high school reunion, and I don't want to sound like I'm just bragging, but believe me, you DON'T want to look like most of my classmates!!! For your lifelong beauty, stay off the hydrogenated fats, the sugars, the white, lifeless flours. That eliminates most of what's in the grocery stores. Shop the perimeter...the produce, meats, dairy and wines.
Maybe when you get to your desired weight, instead of "pigging out," try adding more variety to those healthy foods. Have some guacamole!! Some whole milk yogurt with blueberries and macadamias. A grilled cheese sandwich on whole wheat.
I've kept to 1200 calories for the last two days. I'm hungry most of the time, but it's ok. I can function, and maybe in time I'll get used to it. Ittybitty says I'm getting slimmer...it's true. The clothing fits better. I do put on muscle easily, and it could be that I'm putting on muscle and losing fat, but not losing weight. That will be ok with me.
Speaking of ittybitty!! She was in a panic today, because her entire wardrobe doesn't fit!! And she has to attend an important convention in TWO weeks!! We're going to be hustling to get alterations done. And even her shoes are too big!! She's been a true inspiration, getting to the gym every day, even when she thought that what she was doing wasn't working. So, moral of story,KEEP AT IT! (Telling myself that, too....hehe...)

Morning, just checking in before we head to the gym. Once again your posts have made me want to Keep on, keeping on! lol It's great to have the support and encouragement.
Susannah, good ideas about still eating healthy foods! I never really thought about that before. I mean I just imagine pigging out on all those foods that are REALLY bad for you, instead of just having a variety of healthy ones. I love reading your posts too by the way! I bet you are the best looking lady in your class! GOOD FOR YOU!! I love the attitude you have, we could all learn to think that way about ourselves!
Annetta, I will add you to the group for this week, thanks for posting your weight!! Very nice with the whole shopping thing!! That's AWESOME!! I hope you start to feel better! Yes you have worked too hard to let it all go now! Good attitude about jumping back on board!
Jess, I like how you said to let go of obsession with food, I feel the same way.
sherry, that is something I would do with the whole cashew thing. I love reading on here because the things you guys do or say always remind me of something I would do or have done, in regards to food.
Okay ladies, let's do it!!! It seems a lot of us are kind of feel like we're in a bit of a rough spot. Let's all get over this bump! We can do it. Just remember the end result!! Once we make our goals then we can take it from there! Let's do it everyone!!
Have a very good day!!
Ann

Ann
Hi everyone, I agree with Ann, many of us seem to be hitting the rough patch. It really helps me to read what's happening with all of you. I can certainly relate. According to the activity log I've been burning quite a few calories riding my bike--even at the slow speeds that I go. Yesterday I didn't want to eat much at all and barely got over 1,000 calories for the day. First thing when I woke up I wanted to jump on the scale, but thankfully my daughter had hidden it!
Susannah, you will certainly be the envy of your classmates at your 40th reunion, even if you don't lose an ounce.
Going out to walk the dog before it gets too hot for her... Stay motivated everybody, it's the only way that the weight will come off and stay off. Maybe go out and have a bit of a window shop at all the cute summer clothes too, it works for me.

Good morning, ladies!
I don't know why, but it seems that everytime I go a day over 1,200 calories, I also do for about two or three days afterwards. I can't just have one "maintenance day" and call it quits... but then I go back to a period of three or four days and eat about 1,000 calories everyday. I can't really explain why I do this -- it just seems like something my appetite and body like to do. Very strange. I don't think it helps that it's my TOM right now either... I've been getting the most RANDOM cravings for the last few days!!
All I've got to say is THANK GOODNESS FOR THIS GROUP. The motivation and the support is evident, and it makes me realize that it's never too late to get back on track and that everyday is a new day!
It's a little after 10 a.m. right now, and I've only eaten 140 calories this morning, and feeling quite full (thanks to that crazy binge I had last night...). Hopefully I can close out this day at 1,200 calories. *crosses fingers*

Where is everyone today? I had a good day so far, but this evening I've had snacking on my mind. I hope I have enough healthy snacks and will power to see me through. I rode my bike for over an hour today. I have heard that if you do something everyday for 40 days it becomes a habit. Stay on track everybody!
Hi Laura, I was thinking the same thing. Not too many posts today, it must be a busy day for everyone. Yes, keep the snacks healthy and you can make it through one more day of healthy living! Good job on the exercise, keep it up.
Today was a good day for me also. I did really well with the drinking water again. I've worked my way up to about 3.5 liters of water, a litte more than 100 oz. I had to work my way up to that gradually after starting 2 days ago. I actually just try to drink one .5 liter bottle every hour. I find the more I do it the easier it gets. I'm not a big fan of the plainess of water, but I like the results and how I feel from it, so that's what motivates me to drink it.
I'm off to bed. We'll check you all tomorrow.
Have a good night everyone! Just take it one day at a time and stick with it, it will be sooo worth it in the end!
