Quote  |  Reply

Hi everyone!  I am new to CC and have made the New Year's Resolution to lose weight!

I am a 37 year old female, 5'5" at 179!  I am the mother of two teenagers, 16 and 14.  I work full time, go to college and spend most of my time going to my kids sporting events.

I have made every excuse in te world for not losing weight, and I am done!!!  I want to lose 44 lbs and get down to a healthy 135!  I am not trying to drop this weight over night, but over the next year.

I am looking for other ladies over 30 that would like to support each other in meeting their goals in 2008!!

 Please let me know!!!

Hi! I'm new as well. I am 39 and turning 40 in the much too near future. I am currently 163 going for 140. I used to be in excellent shape but my pants keep shrinking.  I do okay for a couple of months and then ALWAYS fall off and start eating again. Could use the support. Thanks!

Hi and welcome to CC.  I am in the maintain mode now but I am here to support.  You can check out my journal to see the before and after.  I started back in March 07 and the after pics were taken in November 07.  My advice is to start out nice and slow.  Don't get yourself in a "restrictive" mode.  It never works.  Take baby steps.  Add lots of water.  I just followed a heart healthy diet and it worked.  Added some fitness to my routine by using the treadmill a few times a week.  Low fat, meaning no trans fats or bad fats...only good wholesome fats (yes, I eat real butter everyday in moderation of course...and never heated too high) lots of olive and canola oils.  Lots of turkey products and high quality protein...tons of veggies and fruits...moderate pasta and breads.  Maybe a regular soda twice a month.  YOU CAN DO IT!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR and the VERY best of luck!  YOU'RE WORTH IT!!!

btw...I'm 45...mother of one 5 year old

Malibu keep it up!!!  Hotby, Welcome!!

Please add me as a buddy and I will add you as well!

While working out today I was watching the Biggest Loser marathon and I was so motivated by the people on there.  All of these people had so much to lose and did it while they were away from their families!!  It kept me going on the treadmill!

Cardio for 20 minutes and strength training for 30 minutes!  Tomorrow will be the tough day as I know I will be so sore from today!!

I hope everyone strats the day and Year off by sticking to your goals!!

Let us know!!

Thanks,

Gidge

I'm 36...about to be 37...and have 90 to lose. It is time to take care of us...I bet most of us take care of others and do little for ourselves.

We can do it!

well, I am over 30.  I'm also over 40, and over 50!  I'm 53!

I would like to lose 12 pounds.   I've been working out and eating healthy since the end of October.  I work out 5x a week, with one hour of cardio and 30 minutes of weight training.

Not only have I not lost weight, I have actually gained weight in spite of eating healthy and watching.  The thing is I fit into my skinny jeans from when I was 118!  I still want to lose the weight.  I've been told to eat more protein and I'm trying that.  I'm pretty confused at this point.  So, I'd like to join, I need the support, too!

Welcome Ladies!!

I have added you both as buddies!  Please feel free to add me!

Happy New Year!

I'll be your buddy!  My name is Cathy.  I'm 49 years old.  I think I've done every diet under the sun, including weight watchers.  I have a hard time with sticking with anything.  I know part of my problem is that I'm in the house all day.  I've been doing daycare for 20 years now.  I did start back to school a year ago to get my degree in nursing and I can hardly wait to get my fat butt out of this house.  I spend a great deal of my day in the kitchen with feeding the kids.  My son told me about this website, and I really liked it.  I could actually lose 100 pounds.  I guess at this point I just want to find something that I can stick with.  I"ve got 4 boys, ages 17 thru 22.  My oldest gets married in April, 2008.  I obviously don't plan on being skinny for that (haha), but I would like to be on my way.  So, I can definitely use support from others going thru the same stuff.  I look forward to talking to everyone.
Count me in, Ladies! I am 43 and have lost 20 pounds since May 2007. I am really slooow. I want to drop another 30.

Malibu: you look mahvelous! Simply mahvelous! How cool. And what you said about the way you did it sounds so RIGHT!...take it slow and don't do a restrictive mode.

So, do you know how many calories you were consuming while losing?

Hatcher, glad you started this thread...

I would like to join also.  My name is Nicole.  I am 37 years old with a 15 year old son.  I work full time.  I have been working on eating healthier this past year to lower my cholesterol.  That has worked quite a bit but the weight has not come off and I still need to lower my cholesterol a bit.  It was scarey being almost 36 and having a doctor tell you you have heart disease. Not only for my health but I also want to lose this weight as I have a 20 year class reunion coming up this summer and a family trip to the Bahamas next Christmas.  I at least want to look decent in a swimsuit and not like a big ole float toy. I just started counting my calories 2 weeks ago (I had tried it earlier this fall and fell off of the wagon) and have currently lost 4 lbs in the past 2 weeks.  Not too bad during holiday season.  I still have 106 lbs to lose to get to my goal weight of 140.

My husband is in this with me this time around.  Thank goodness!  As we both use food to spend time together.  Go out to dinner or play cards at night with munchies.

For exercise I have been walking, swimming & yoga at least 4 days a week.  I am trying to keep my calories below 1500 a day.  The hard thing for me is taking in enough water daily.  It is the area I need to work on the most.

Thanks for starting this thread Hatcher. Laughing

Where is everyone from?  Utah here just north of SLC.

spoiled_huney, I have a 15 year old son, too. I'm in Michigan.

How are you guys today? How did you fare yesterday? I stayed in calorie range. We can do it!

Good Morning Ladies!!!

I am so glad that all of you have joined in this thread!  Okay, everyone needs to pick a day of the week that they will do their weekly weigh-in.  Whatever day you want.  On the message, please put your last weigh-in, your current weigh-in and total weight lost so far!  This will be a real quick way for us to be able to be accountable to each other for our progress!!

I started on Tuesday, so that will be my weigh-in day.  It will look like this...

Last weigh-in (TUE): 178 lbs

Current weigh-in (TUE): 178 lbs

Weight loss to date: 0 lbs

Let's hope that next week I have some numbers to put up!!!

Thanks everybody!!!!!

Sharonclaire aren't 15 year olds fun???  Mine is a good kid, but a hand full.  I am sure he is my payback for when I was 15 LOL

I got up this morning and walked 26 minutes on the treadmill at 2.0.  I know this sounds real slow but I threw my hips out 3 weeks ago and it has been the first time I have been on in that time period so I am starting out slow as to not reinjure myself.  I have been swimming the past 2 weeks instead.  I also did 10 minutes of yoga to warm up.  I am off until next Monday so I am going to be able to work out some more during the day.

Haley and Malibu you are such inspirations with your weightloss!

I am going to use Monday as my official reporting day, though I might weigh in more often! I think you are only supposed to weigh in 1 day a week, but I like to see changes.

Last weigh-in (Mon): 234 lbs

Current weigh-in (Wed): 232.5 lbs

Weight loss to date: 1.5 lbs

Last weigh-in (Sat):  183.5

Current weigh-in (Sat):  181.5

Weight loss to date:  66.5 lbs

**When the scale goes below 180, I will cry**
