Quote  |  Reply

Hi everyone!  I am new to CC and have made the New Year's Resolution to lose weight!

I am a 37 year old female, 5'5" at 179!  I am the mother of two teenagers, 16 and 14.  I work full time, go to college and spend most of my time going to my kids sporting events.

I have made every excuse in te world for not losing weight, and I am done!!!  I want to lose 44 lbs and get down to a healthy 135!  I am not trying to drop this weight over night, but over the next year.

I am looking for other ladies over 30 that would like to support each other in meeting their goals in 2008!!

 Please let me know!!!

Is it too late to join in? I am in some serious need of motivational support.  On a thread that is great, but I need that extra push!

If its ok, let me know and I will post my STORY as well Wink

Hi Hatcher! My name is Christie and I am 33. I had a baby in March 2007 and since then I have managed to lose 30+ pounds. I currently weigh 260lbs and I am 5'9".  I am looking to lose another 100+ pounds.  My husband and I started losing weight together a few months ago but he is about to leave on a deployment so I could use a new buddy.  I have two other children (6 and 5) so I decided to join a gym while my oldest is at Kindergarten in the morning. I am really hoping to get as close to 150 by the time my husband comes home. I think it would be great to be able to support others and receive support while trying to accomplish these goals.  I will add you too my list of buddies and you can do the same. Thanks for starting this thread - I think it will help to get to know others in the same age group. :)

irlmonet and cmiller7 welcome!!!!!  I think all of us agree that we need as much support as we can get!!  I have added both of you as buddies and feel free to do the same with me!!!  Look back on a couple of the messages for weighing in weekly.  You pick one day of the week!!

BTW Ladies, I am going to keep track of the day you put on there so you have to stick to it!!  Of course, I need you to make me stick to it as well!!

Miller, where is your husband deploying to?  I was in the Army for 12 years and was deployed to Iraq for one year.  Best thing of that was that I lost so much weight there!!!  Of course, when I came back to the states I put on 40 lbs!!!  I had to eat all that fast food that I was missing over there!  Totally regretting it now!!

Managed to stay on the treadmill for 31 minutes today and met my calorie goal!!  WOO HOO!!  Laughing  Baby steps, baby steps!!

Hey, I just turned 30 in May. I have three children, 11, 10, & 8. I've been overweight since the birth of my first child that many years ago and have just continued to pack it on and on and on. I'm really looking forward to trying once again to lose the weight and be fitter. I do hope to hear inspirational stories and motivating words.  When I took the kids this past fall to the fair, I was really sadden by the realization that #1 I could have a heart attack by excitement on a ride so I chose not to ride and #2 unfortunately I don't believe that I would have fit on any of the rides. I told my husband if I lose the weight I want to go to Disney World, honestly.  I recently was turned down by a health insurance company because of my weight which was really upsetting. I play basketball, volleyball, tether-ball with my kids, I haven't let them suffer, I just want to continue to play with my children but when they run I want to be able to catch them. It hasn't kept me down, it just has inhibited me from doing more. I love to laugh and smile and am generally happy. I am just so tired of being so sore from carrying so much weight and physically, at the end the day the pain in my legs & feet are sometimes unbearable.  The last time I weighed myself I was at 265. I am only 5ft 4in. I plan to buy a scale tomorrow, I haven't had one in my home for over 8 years, it's time to be accountable. I just hope I can make it.

Wanna,

You are so in!!  I have added you as a buddy and please do the same for me!!  Get that scale and start letting us know how you are doing!

That trip to Disney is in the bag!!!

Hello ladies, now that I'm able to join the group.....

My name is Angie, 34 soon to be 35, from Waterford, Ireland. I am a transplant from San Francisco, California and will be here 3 years in March.  I have a blended family (basically my own 9 yr old and my boyfriend's 15 and 12 year old), so we have a nice full household.

Had pretty much maintained my weight in the 130's all my life, struggled after I had my daughter and most recently packed it on when I had to be on steroids for 3 months to help a skin condition I have. Right now I am a whopping 187!

My problem is I am a complete saint or sinner, all or nothing.  Trying to change this mentality, but not completely easy.  Anyway, hoping this group will help me get back on track have some events coming up and would like to not look like a rollie-pollie if you know what I mean. Not easy when you are only 5'4.

Looking to weigh in every Thursday so here goes nothing!

Good luck to us all!

Morning.  Well, I think I'd like to have Thursday as my weigh-in date, although  I

actually started on Tuesday.  So here it is.

Last weigh-in (Tue): 241 lbs.

Current weigh-in (Thurs):  239 lbs.

Weight loss to date:  2 lbs.

Good Luck to everyone!!!

Cathy

Irlmonet, cool story! Did you meet your hubby on line? Sorry if to personal just breeze by that question...just so curious!!!

wannabe...that's when I gained my weight! w/the birth of my son.

And spoiled_ YES! I wouldn't trade my 15 yo either!

So, I am 43, 5'7''.

Start weight@ 211.

Current weight @191 but have eaten a lot in the past 3 days so can't tell if I'm up or down (it's my monthly...yai!!!) But, I weigh in every few days so will track it that way.

I love to hike and do go out in the snow. Want to start jogging again...need to get through an injury.

Goal: @ 158 but taking it slowly. Want to get to 185 first!!! and sit there for a while otherwise, if I do this too fast, I'll freak out!

Ultimate goal: Do it once and never again!!!

You made me smile Sharonclaire, no it was a bit more romantic than that Wink. No offense taken whatsoever....

Well here it goes ladies, made a complete mess of the diet today, but hoping to redeem myself at the gym later tonight!

Question for you, when you put in the minutes worked on a exercise are the calories it shows used for your specific weight?  The reason I ask is that if I use the elliptical at the gym it say 580 calories burned and on this website is says over 1000??? Anyone got some clues?

Hope everyone's day is going well!

Hatcher,

Can I join too?  I'm 31 (soon to be 32) and I'm 5'4" weighing 201 lbs.  I met my husband a little over 2 years ago and weighed 145 lbs.  But ever since then, we've really been having a good time together and have managed to get very comfortable.....we eat bad food all the time, have cocktails with our friends and stopped going to the gym.  I'm uncomfortable and really need to lose the weight to feel better and look better.  And, seeing as we plan to have a family in the next couple of years, I don't want to pack on baby weight ON TOP of all this extra fat right now.  I need the support ladies!!  Please add me as your buddies!!!

Hi again! I think I will pick Wednesdays as my day since that is when I started on this site. I weigh myself every day just so I can make sure none of those pounds try to creep back on but it will be nice to see the bigger numbers (hopefully) after measuring a week at a time. :) My husband is deploying to Iraq (thanks for your service BTW). It must be so hard to be a Mom and be away from your kids. I don't know how you did it. That is so funny you mentioned the fast food thing. He always wants to go to McDonalds when he comes home. He LOVES McDonalds. Unfortunately it doesn't love us back! :) Excellent job on the treadmill! Keep it up. I gave myself the rest of the week (until Ella goes back to school) to get back into working out as a reward for not gaining anything during the holidays (tough since I LOVE to cook).  But, I feel guilty that I am not working out and have been trying to talk myself into doing my video this morning. It's Jillian from the Biggest Loser and I know it will kick my butt because I haven't done it since before the holidays.  It's so hard to get motivated but I know I will feel really good if I do it (and maybe that is a better reward).  Wish me luck!

May as well count me in as well! I will 35 next month and I am planning on starting Monday. For some reason, it just seems right to start the week on a new note! I really need to lose A LOT of weight (more than even I want to acknowledge), but I am determined. I am married with a 9 year old son and work full time, pretty sedentary also. I had pretty good success a few years ago counting my calories but started a new job and I have never seen an office like this, there is food everywhere! My mom was just diagnosed with diabetes and that along with a fear of heart attacks has got me motivated. Ladies, I must let you know that I have very little will power. The thought of losing my Coca-Cola, oh, lets just not go there! Small steps, I suppose. I look forward to OUR journey! I just want to weigh something that doesn't start with a 2!

Is it too late to get in?

Im 32, female, 205 lbs.

Good luck all!

you would be surprised how "OFF" those calorie readouts are on the exercise equipment.  I just invested in a heart monitor which is as exact as you can get.  The calories you burn are in DIRECT correlation with your heart beat.  The machines give you a 'basic' guideline to your weight and how much you "MAY" be burning.  In general, you actually burn a bit less than what the machines says you did.  This is especially true for those ppl that use treadmills and hold on to the rails.  Then the readout is probably out by 30-50%!!!!!!

~H~

sr, summer and kyna you are in ladies!!!

Wow this is turning out great!! I love that all these great ladies are joining!!!

We are going to kick butt this year!!Tongue out

Good morning ladies, so how is everyone doing today?

Me, no go yesterday, but today is the day, I set a huge goal for myself and I am going to do it! Cork City Marathon in June.....now I have never done one, stink at running, but you are allowed to walk and boy can I walk.

Still going to try to run a bit at least train that way. Now if it just wasn't so close to the TOM that I am craving every single sweet thing in the world!

Good luck to you all and send some over my way, I NEED IT!!!

Good Morning! What a great goal. My dad did the Portland (Oregon) marathon a while back - maybe I can ask if he has any tips. I would really like to do a triathalon. I have never excelled at running but I love swimming and biking. I tried to talk my sister into doing it with me but she said I was crazy. :) I think I saw a website somewhere that will help you train by setting goals and milestones, etc. I will try and find it for you.  Even walking is a huge accomplishment. I'm rooting for you! Things are good here but I woke up and weighed myself this morning and I gained a pound! Argh! I burned more calories than I took in and managed to talk myself into doing my video.  Oh well, it's only a pound and maybe it will help me to be motivated to cut more calories today. :) The one thing was that I felt really good after I worked out and I felt like I had more energy for the kids, etc. and I feel good today because I feel sore so I know it's working.  Good luck today everybody! :)
