Ladies over 30 looking to help each other
Hi everyone! I am new to CC and have made the New Year's Resolution to lose weight!
I am a 37 year old female, 5'5" at 179! I am the mother of two teenagers, 16 and 14. I work full time, go to college and spend most of my time going to my kids sporting events.
I have made every excuse in te world for not losing weight, and I am done!!! I want to lose 44 lbs and get down to a healthy 135! I am not trying to drop this weight over night, but over the next year.
I am looking for other ladies over 30 that would like to support each other in meeting their goals in 2008!!
Please let me know!!!
Hi everyone! I hope everyone is doing good. Good here - it's weigh in day and that is not good, darn it. Oh well, motivation for next week I guess. Well, here are the numbers:
Last week: 214.6
This week: 216 :(
Gain: 1.4lbs
Darn it! I am hoping it's related to that time of the month (pretty please) but I didn't eat so good yesterday (out running around - I am so bad when I eat out) and when I weighed myself yesterday I was at 213 so I am guessing it was more bad habit than monthly occurance. Well, I will just have to work harder this week. I really want to be below 200 before Chris comes home (thinking positively) in August. That would be great - but now I will have to work that much harder. Shoot! :)
jasmine: good job on your loss! Krispy Kremes are the only doughnuts I like. They are SO good! Luckily I have no idea if there is one near here and I hope to keep it that way. It's bad enough that there are two Dairy Queens, two Cold Stones, and three Cinnabons! :/

Hi guys, I suppose now that I am nearing my 35th birthday I finally must admit that I am in my 30s. It's bizarre!!! I hope I can join your group. I reached my goal last year but gained 5lbs back, not much I know as I am still slim, but being a very petite woman I want to get back down to my goal for my wedding date in September. I am already 1lb down. Looking for all the motivation I can get as I no longer calorie count and just instead "wing-it" counting wise, estimating my daily intake and trying to make healthy choices. Looking forward to getting to know you all.

So things seem to be moving in the right direction again, thank goodness! I was starting to get a little frustrated with the yo-yo thing. Hopefully this was the last of it. :) Beau has been running a fever so I wasn't able to swim yesterday or run today but, I stayed here and did the Exercise tv on On Demand thing and I tried Jillian's 30 day shred, level two because level one isn't available anymore. Boy, she is evil (in good way). I hope I don't drown tomorrow because I can't move my arms. :) I might have to get that video. She makes you work hard! The idea is to get the most out of a 20 minute workout and she is successful. So if anyone is looking for a change in their workout this is a good one! Well, I am beat, so I am going to hit the hay! I hope everyone is doing good! Keep up the good work!
Where is everyone? Come on girls! Don't give up now - we've all come too far! We got this! I hope everyone is doing okay. Good here. Although apparently my plateau is alive and well. I pulled an all nighter last night working on the newsletter for Ella's school which with me usually involes really bad snacking so I was surprised it wasn't worse. I have been bad - I admit it. I am still working out and even swimming some (but I hope to start being able to go more frequently). Also, Friday, My Sis and I got to have girl's night out because our gym does this parent's nite out thing. We had so much fun! We went to an Improv place and had a yummy dinner. But, I had a margarita and I bet those have a ton of calories. We had appetizers before the show too so I did really bad. Other than those slip-ups I am pretty much back on track though. I have been making a lot of the Cooking Light recipes and I have been trying to visualize the number 210 in my head so I can get past this but so far nada. :) Oh well, it's weigh in day so here goes...

Gain: (darn it) 0.08lbs
But, on a positive note I lost 0.2 more percent Body Fat and gained 0.1 percent more muscle. So, at least that's heading in the right direction. :) Well, I really hope everyone is doing good and still working hard. I miss all of you and hope to hear from you soon! Keep up the good work!
I am STILL alive, barely! LOL
I survived the cruise, we had a blast. More food than you can even imagine. ididn't think I did too bad under the circumstances. We had a 24 hr pizzaria, 24 hr soft serve ice cream, one night a chocolate buffet! Can you see where I am headed! LOL After we got back from that I had 2 whole days to wash all the clothes adn repack myslef for Denver. OMG That place is BEAUTIFUL! So Off to Denver I went for almost a week. I averaged MAYBE 4 hours of sleep a night there. I was there on business and would end up in late night dscussions about god knows what now! So here is where I am as of today!

I guess it could have been ALOT worse! On the cruise they did an On Deck for the Cure. A one mile walk on the track for breast cancer research. My mom and I participated in it. As we have every Race for the Cure since 2001, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. she is now an 8 year survivor.
So I am saying I did manage to walk a mile while on the cruise. Not to mention the LONG hallways to get anywhere! LOL We all had a blast. The boys loved Camp Carnival after the first day. We would leave them there for dinner and they would ahve little parties and such. They made several friends onthe ship as did I. I met several ladies with kids the same age as mine. It was nice. This would be the ultimate vacation for people with teenagers who never stop eating, as all the food is included and they canhave pizza whenever they want! LOL Wel if anyone wants anymore specifics about the cruise just ask.
I am back on track since returning from Denver. Have done well the last day and a half! LOL not that that is long enough to say back on track but hey! I am on my way! LOL Hope everyone is doing well!

shayna: I am glad you had a good time on your cruise! Welcome back! A chocolate buffet? I would SO be in trouble! Denver is beautiful. We live just outside of Denver and today I was out with the kids around that twilight time and it was so nice to just watch them play and relax. Tell your Mom congratulations! That is awesome! I did the walk here in Denver and it made me cry to see how many women are affected and therefore the people around them. Good to hear you are back on track - I think you did pretty well for all of that travel and considering the chocolate buffet! :) Thanks for the support!

Hi everyone! I have been off the radar as well...my mom was visiting us for several weeks and I tried to keep up the excercise but it was hard! So I've been busy with that and my oldest just started Kindergarten yesterday, and I'm hoping the little one wll nap in the afternoon so I can get on that blasted elliptical in my bedroom.
In other news, we are moving to London! My hubby and I decided we should take this opportunity now while the boys can't really "hate" us yet! It's a great job opp for him and we are excited about all the possibilites of being based in Europe! Originally, I am from Switzerland, so seeing the homeland again will be very exciting! Plus my boys have Swiss citizenship as well as US, so they should see their other culture.
Anyway, I didn't even know my numbers for the scale until I stepped on it this morning, and I've gained back a couple of pounds. So here I go again...
Hi everyone. I found CC in July of last year when I had managed to lose 40lbs. Since then, I fell off the wagon and found myself 20lbs heavier as of March this year. I think part of my problem was that I had no support, so I browsed the forums today and found your group. You all seem so great I am hoping you will allow me to join your team and get back on track. I will take it - at least I am still moving in the right direction. :) Although, I took the kids to Red Robin while school shopping today as a back to school treat so that may change. But, I bought my first pair of size 16 shorts in a long time! They aren't baggy or anything but they aren't uncomfortable either. They are cute too and they were half off - so it was a good day today. :) Yay! I hope everyone is doing good!

I'm new to CC. I found this website after having surgery on July 14, 2008. I was looking for an easy way keep track of calories, carbs, fats, etc without carrying a library of calorie reference books and a notebook. I found your group while searching the forums. I hope that I can fit into your group.
Here is my story:
In my early teens, I broke 100lb. In my early twenties, I broke 200lb. In my early thirties, I broke 300lb. Well, with 40 around the corner I definately did not want to break 400lb. I have a 6 year little boy and a 3 year old little girl. Both pregnancies ended with a C-section. I don't think that the second C-section healed up correctly. I ended up with an umbilical hernia which had alot of fat tissue and some intestinal tissue coming through the muscle wall.
With the July 8, 2008 doctors visit, I weighed in at 336lb with high chorlestoral, and type 2 diabiates. This was a wake up call for me. My babies need me to be healthy. I need me to be healthy. I am also afraid of passing my bad eating habits to my children. Afterall, they watch what mommy eats. I don't drink and I don't smoke.
After having the hernia repair on July 14, I decided to start a new healthy weight loss LIFE. Even though I am healing nicely from the surgery, I do not want to be in the situation where I have to choose gastric bypass or lap-band. My mother had the gastric bypass as the last resort after years of diets.
At least now I can monitor the weight loss. For a while, I did not know how much I weighed. My digital scales maxed out at 330.
Here are my stats:
Starting weight at July 14, 2008 = 336 lb
Current weight as of August 2, 2008 = 318 lb

I think that it is going to work this time. I found a doctor that is going to listen to me. In the past, I had suggested a possible chemical imbalance of some sort. The doctor would only dismiss me as lazy or "Maybe you just need a little more will power." My new doctor found a problem with my thyroid and I am now on synthroid.
I think another thing that is different this time is my attitude and my opinion about myself.
Finding a good doctor is sometimes hard. They can be so dismissive and judgmental. I know exactly what you mean. I am fortunate to have a good doctor right now. I am very good friends with his wife, so he knows me well enough to know that I would only come to him if I had legitimate concerns. It is frustrating when they don't take your concerns seriously.
You CAN do this. You just need to believe in yourself! I will add you as a friend......

At least this is going in the right direction again! Just 5 more lbs to my goal weight! I was ALMOST there before the Cruise and Denver and and and LOL. Now I am heading to Atlanta this weekend. I PROMISE to do better this time. At least it is only a few days. But it is soo hard being stuck in business meetings all day in a hotel conference room. All I want to do is snack to stay awake! ERGG! I will ONLY drink Diet Coke for the caffeine! NO CHOCOLATE! LOL We will see how this goes!

cmiller - Congrats on your progress! You are doing great! I am sure you enjoyed you night out with your sister. It has to be hard to be a single parent all the time! You are going to be hot and sexy when he comes back though! Watch out world! LOL
