Ladies over 30 looking to help each other
Hi everyone! I am new to CC and have made the New Year's Resolution to lose weight!
I am a 37 year old female, 5'5" at 179! I am the mother of two teenagers, 16 and 14. I work full time, go to college and spend most of my time going to my kids sporting events.
I have made every excuse in te world for not losing weight, and I am done!!! I want to lose 44 lbs and get down to a healthy 135! I am not trying to drop this weight over night, but over the next year.
I am looking for other ladies over 30 that would like to support each other in meeting their goals in 2008!!
Please let me know!!!
Hi Everyone,
I am so glad to see more new members joining in. Thank you all for being there and supporting us new gals as we start off on our weight loss journey.
Well it has been a week since I joined and unfortunately I gained three pounds.
Funny thing was that during the week, I weighed myself several times and found that I was fluctuating alot. First 160 then 158 back to 160 and now at 163. I am going to have my period soon, so maybe that's what's going on. Do any of you have the same problem?
My other problem seems to be my eating habits. I am trying to get a schedule down, but with little success. I am usually on the go and am forgetting to eat and later when I'm hungry I noticed I wind up eating more than I should (even though I am trying to be more cautious with portions). Worse yet is that I am looking for something quick so I have grabbed snacks that are not as healthy. So, this week I am trying to plan a little better and keep some healthier snacks on hand, which is difficult because my husband keeps bringing the bad stuff back in. WILLPOWER is broken down alot.
On the plus side I am working out again, and am really enjoying it. That maybe another reason for the fluctuating. Anyway, my husband surprised me and got me a Wii Fit. I'm going to try it today and will let you know if it helps.
Hi M_B
As to your question about that special time, I tend to gain 5-10 pounds water retention. Mother Nature sure does pull a cruel trick on us and our weight.
Please let me know your opinion on that Wii Fit thing. I've been hearing alot of hype about it and not sure if it is all that it's cracked up to be. As a person of over 300 lb., I need some sort of workout that won't hurt my knees and ankles. Don't get me wrong, I can handle muscle pain. I just can stand joint and nerve pains. The other problem that I have is that I have two little ones that are at a constant run. For me to take a walk around the block, they would have to come with me. Then it becomes a run / chase that I can't keep up with.
As for snacks, I keep watermelon or canteloupe already cut up in the fridge for a quick snack. Very filling with very little cals! Another thing that I keep in the fridge, ready to eat, is red grapes (washed and plucked from the vine).
Just hang in there.

Hi Shanya
Thanks for the encouragement. I feel great, even after three weeks into the diet. Even though I feel that I have been loosing the same 2 pounds for the past few days
. I get a feeling that I'm going to get off this yo-yo soon.
Gee, I love this site.
Dee
Hi All,
Dee - Thanks for the info, it's good to know that I can expect to lose that extra water weight after this is over.
I didn't get to try out the Wii Fit yet. Other things always seem to get in the way. I'll try again tomorrow and let you know. By the way, with summer still around, I would suggest you look into water aerobics. This is a pretty big thing out here in AZ. Most of the cities offer this class as part of their rec classes as well as most of the gyms and I hear that it is not as strenuous on the joints.
Thanks also for the advice on the fruit, unfortunately I have to keep my fruit portions at a minimum since it really affects my sugar levels. I am not diabetic, but my dr did say I am on the border. I am suppose to watch my carb intake. If anyone else has that problem, the dr did say to me that when I do eat fruit it is always best to do so with protein - for example, apples and peanut butter. Funny thing is that I have heard varying opinions on fruit from different drs. Some drs say that eating any fruit is okay. My dr said I should lay off the oranges, grapes, melons, and bananas since they have alot of sugar, but apples, pears, and any berries are fine. Has anyone else heard the same?
Dee - I agree, I love this site!

Hi,
I'm not completely new to Calorie Count but I have been away for over a year, I think. I thought I was ready to go things alone but quickly found myself having gained 40 of the 70 pounds I lost. So bascially here I am trying to get myself back on track again.
Take care,
Tonya

Gee Tonya, your story sounds so familiar. I did the same thing pretty much. It's frustrating that I allowed myself to gain so much back. I was so close to my goal.
Hope you have a good week!

Hi all I have been away for a while. Been so busy working on the house and was not eating right so now i am back up to 192:( Time to get back to it and try again. It is nice to see some new people her too. Guess i will weigh in on Friday like I was in the past.
Where is everyone??
Weigh in day here. Down to 190 from 192:)!!!!!!
Come on ladies we can do it!!
Dropped one more lb this week down to 189
Hi everyone! It looks like it's been a little while since anyone has posted but hopefully we'll get back to it. Sorry for my long absence it got so crazy around here when the kids started school with having to go to the school three times a day and working on the school newsletter and having Beau. It was hard to balance everything so I let CC slide thinking I "had an idea of how much I could eat and stay in my calories" - wrong! Add to that a sinus infection and my hubby coming home for 2 weeks to visit and here I am 10lbs heavier! UGH! I am SO mad at myself for letting that happen. Right before he came home I was all excited for him to see me because I was at my lightest weight since having the kids (209!) and lowest body fat (35.3). So, now I have to get going and work that back off. I got back to my run today and it was tough but I managed 3.38 miles before I had to go pick up my daughter (not that I could have gone much farther anyway - seriously, I was dying!). Oh well, moving forward and hopefully downward. :) Hope to see you guys back here! Keep at it and have a great week!
Christie
Yep.....I'm back to! Gained back 16 pounds of the 46 lost over the summer and is ready to get back in it. I weighed in last Monday at 230...this monday 226.....Let's go!
i hear ya - my weight graph starts to look like a reversed J - nor very good. gained back some, now decided to get back on track, just having too many parties to attend to:)
Hi everyone! I hope everyone is getting back on track - I know I am sure trying. :) I managed to run 4 miles yesterday again for the first time since before my hubby came home. My daughter even joined me. She just turned 7 and she really wanted work out clothes for her b-day so she could run with me. I figured it would be okay. I ran with my dad when I was little and she seemed to have a good time. She actually ran 1.8 miles which I thought was pretty good. Then I took her back to the child watch and finished mine. She wants an ipod now too. :) It's nice that she wants to do that and it gives me a way to spend time alone with her since I am usually so wrapped up with taking care of Beau (19 mos.). Okay, I will quit stalling - it's weigh in day for me today. I really had these grand plans to be at 215 by today, but no such luck. Birthday cake didn't help. :( So here goes:
Last week: 219
This week: 217.2
loss: 1.8lbs
My body fat went down and muscle went up so at least everything is heading in the right direction again. :)
I have to get going - dr. appt. I hope everyone is doing great - talk to you soon!
Keep up the good work!
Christie
Time to get back on track here. I am up to 198.6 must lose weight. Lets stay focused together we can all do it!
We are getting snow here today so maybe I can work some of my pounds off doing snow removal. Don't know if we will get a lot or a small amount since it is lake effect just depends on how the wind blows off the lake. Should be cleaning leaves but mother nature is not helping us. I was a good girl yesterday and did not over eat. Think it will get easier not that I started back with this again it was the getting motivated to start that was tough.
Good Luck to all and enjoy your weekend
Happy Monday! Well things are getting easier now that I am counting cals again and not just eating everything in sight. Glad I saved my pants since I am back up to my old size. Need to get back to a 12. Hope all is well with everyone
Where is everyone??
Well Happy Turkeyday to all
Remember moderation
Hi everyone! Sorry I've been MIA - I had a newsletter deadline and I am holding Thanksgiving here this year so I have been getting ready for that. Well, it's weigh in day so here goes:
Last week: 217.2
This week: 215.8
Loss: 1.4
I was hoping for bigger numbers but at least I am going in the right direction and I am gaining muscle and losing body fat. So that is good. :) I plan to work out tomorrow am before My Sis comes down so I won't have to feel so guilty about eating. I am hoping that - and moderation will keep me on track. :)
Jasmine: I know what you mean. I managed to stay in my pants size but it isn't pretty. :) Also, I am just reminded of how it felt to be out of shape and sluggish and all the bad stuff that comes with being out of shape and overweight - like feeling uncomfortable in your own clothes and feeling the rolls. Ugh! Let's not go back there. If we can make it through the holidays, we can do anything right?
Wannabefitter: hope you are still on track and everything is going good. If not, it's okay, it's never too late to get back to it. :)
I hope everything has a wonderful Thanksgiving! Talk to you soon and keep up the good work!
Christie
Weigh in day today.
Last week 198.6
This week 195.4
Total loss 3.2 works for me would have been better but hey that turkey did me in. Getting ready to go shop now. Everyone have a good weekend
