Quote  |  Reply

Hi everyone!  I am new to CC and have made the New Year's Resolution to lose weight!

I am a 37 year old female, 5'5" at 179!  I am the mother of two teenagers, 16 and 14.  I work full time, go to college and spend most of my time going to my kids sporting events.

I have made every excuse in te world for not losing weight, and I am done!!!  I want to lose 44 lbs and get down to a healthy 135!  I am not trying to drop this weight over night, but over the next year.

I am looking for other ladies over 30 that would like to support each other in meeting their goals in 2008!!

 Please let me know!!!

Hi everybody.   WELCOME Shelle, Diane and Laura, any of you can add me as a buddy and I will do the same. that goes for everybody.

well last nights dinner really was not good for the calorie counting.  Sweet n sour chicken CHINA KING takeout, I was very good though.  I only ate about 1/3 of it and my husband ate the rest.  And then I ate some candy while we watched a movie.  today I am doing great.  first thing this morning I took my dog for a walk and then later I went to the gym and had a great workout.   for both my breakfast and lunch I was able to keep calories reasonable.  I think I am going to make some soup for dinner, I love soup so if anyone has any great and easy recipes let me know. I am very lucky that my kids love their veggies, well most of them ( brussels sprouts not so much).  have a great day ladies.     emm

Hey emmgrrr! I have a tortilla soup recipe you might like?

Ingredients:

2-16oz cans of tomatoes with liquid

2-8oz cans of tomato sauce

2 cloves garlic

4 cups chicken broth

1 tablespoon chili powder

1/2 teaspoon black powder

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1-4.5 ounce can chopped green chilies

1/2 to 1 cup tomato salsa

shredded tortilla chips

Directions:

Combine all ingredients except chips.  Cover and simmer over low heat for about 1 hour.  When ready to serve, put a handful of chips in bowl and add soup. Top with desired condiments.

Hope this helps!

I am 31 in Florida. No kids but with my husband being a Chef I have packed on some weight. I am a small build 5'3' and I weight 152. I was 115 when we met and would love to get back to that weight. I am also looking for a weight in support group.

Thanks Count me In Kiss

I am looking to get down to at least 130 but would love 125. Hoping to get there by the end of this semester in may. HA HA HA HA!!!!!  I will let you all know what I am weighing in at on Saturday. Please add me to your lists.

Hi everyone!  I'm new here and would love to join.  I just turned 32 and am a single mom of an eleven year old.  I am currently 220 :( on a large 5"6 fram.  I would like to get down to 145-150.  But my first goal is is to be under 200.  I'm also looking forward to being lighter by summer!

I'm excited to do CC.  It just makes sense.  Hopefully with this and exercise I'll be a new healthier me.

Start date 12/31/08: 234

Last weigh-in (Wed): 232.5 lbs

Current weigh-in (Mon): 232.5 lbs

Weight loss to date: 1.5 lbs

I am very discouraged. I stayed under my calorie range all week and drank water. I don't get it! Other people lose 3 and 4 lbs a week, and I haven't lost a THING since last Wednesday. I am very discouraged. I feel like crying. I even went out to dinner last night and had a healthy salad and no dessert. I am going to cut my calories from 1750 to 1500 if I can live on that and see what happens. I will try to work out 3 times this week.

Don't get discouraged pgnc! Earlier in the week I had gained a pound after cutting calories and working out but then the next day I lost 3lbs (even after a McDonalds misstep). I am trying to look at it this way - it's math.  If we are cutting calories and working out it will start coming off. It may not happen the way we think it will because we're so dang complicated, but it will happen. Also, we can feel good because we know that we are doing everything we can to be healthy. :) You can do it!
Hey wannabefitter! Great job. You are so right about restaurants. I swear they inject fat into stuff. It's crazy. Also, their serving sizes are gigantic and ususally it tastes good so you want to finish it. I have been trying to at least save half and then I have a yummy meal that I don't have to prepare for lunch the next day. It also makes me feel better for paying $10 for a plate of food, ya know? It's so great that you are teaching this to your daughter. My six year old keeps asking why I am trying to lose weight and I have been trying to explain it in the healthiest light possible.  I want her to think about weight in a healthy way and not feel like she has to diet for society when she grows up or so she can fit some standard. I worry about navigating her through all of that pressure.  That is partly why I wanted to start this - so she can learn from me to be healthy and make good choices and love herself the way God made her no matter what size that is. :)

I agree with Cmillery PGNC, from personal experience I've had the scale be the bone of contention on many a day, but just when I want to give up it starts moving again. Take heart, I am sure you will be pleasantly suprised and justly rewarded for all your efforts.

I know this sounds wierd, but actually had to force myself to eat today (just love those days) but I know I went overboard on green grapes (I love those things), fruit can be a killer for me. Probably satisfying some sweet craving I suppose, but I figured with all the exercise, it will pan itself out......

How everyone is doing well today, its another day and we can get through it!

Last weigh-in (Thurs): 182.2 lbs

Current weigh-in (Mon): 176.0 lbs

Weight loss to date: 6.2 lbs

Wouldn't it be easier if we all weighed in on the same day?  Just a suggestion.

Is anyone doing South Beach, Atkins, something like that?  I think I will at least until I've jumpstarted into fat-burning.

Anyone else grumpy and bitchy and dying for chocolate?!!  :-)

Last weigh in (31 Dec Mon) - 246 lbs

Current weigh in (7 Jan Mon) - 243 lbs - that 3 lbs down this week & 10 days without a smoke.  It is killing me!!

Skyblue - I did the Atkins diet a few years ago and it worked great for me.  I sure missed my fruit & grains.  It was amazing what you could eat on that diet.

I know I am grumpy the hubby has informed me of this.Wink  I may not be able to keep up dieting and not smoking at the same time.  It is a lot to bite off, but I do  so want to be healthier.

CMiller- that is a great way to explain to your daugher about losing weight to just be healthy and not an image that girls now days think they have to be skin and bones to be sexy and healthy.

cmiller,   i to worry about my daughter trying to fit into some box that society has made up.  I am always tring to set a good example for her and try not to show that I'm uncomfortable with my body.  I remember when I was in high school thinking I was such much bigger than all the other girls and hating it.  I look back now and realize that I was so not fat I just happened to be taller than all the girls and alot of the guys in my school.  At 6' tall I was never going to weigh 120lbs and be a size 4.  I look back now and realize that I was actually smoking hot at 17.   So now that I've grown to love my height I hope that my daughter will see that cuz chances are she is going to be tall too.    emm

Good morning everyone!  I did really good this entire past week but haven't weighed myself to see if I've lost any weight yet.  However, more importantly, it's amazing how much better I feel in one week from not eating all that greasy, fattening food.  I actually haven't been having the afternoon sleepies like I usually do.  I'm going to the gym tonight so I'll get to step on the scale.  Regardless, I'm feeling better and I hope this leads to a lifetime of better habits.

Hope everyone is well and I'll post my results tomorrow.  I would really like to get to know you all better!

Good Morning everyone! Welcome to those of you who joined yesterday! :) Things are going pretty good here. I managed to have extra calories left at the end of the day yesterday for my goal so I allowed myself a treat (some Frangos) so that was nice. A girl craves her chocolate now and then. : )  I like the idea of counting calories because I know when I can afford a treat and that way I don't have to feel so guilty. I really like this system. I think it is a good way to re-train how I eat and that way it can be a life change versus a diet which may mean gaining weight back eventually?  I hope everyone is doing good and has a great day today! :)

Skyblue - I did the Atkins thing but I SO missed my carbs! I love bread so that was a tough one for me and it did not last. Mostly because I felt deprived and restricted of the things I like most. But, I do know that people who are not carbaholics seem to do really well on it. Also, I did manage to figure out where I wouldn't miss having carbs so much. :)

spoiled_huney - Excellent job on not smoking! That is terrific! That is tough to quit smoking and start trying to lose weight at the same time and you are doing it! Good job! Thanks for your comment about skin and bones - it is so true. I think that can look quite unhealthy too!

emmgrrr - I never realized how tough it would be to have a daughter. You don't want them to go through what we've gone through. I have struggled with my weight since I hit puberty. Bu I also don't want to stress her out about her weight either. I am also tall and I always felt like an amazon woman compared to my friends. It is still a struggle for me to feel comfortable with myself  because it's so hard to see all of the images we see on a daily basis and not feel self-conscious. I think it is so important to help myself in that way so I can teach that to Ella because like you said, she will most like be tall too. :) Great job on losing 4lbs!

Pouncer 73 - Keep it up! That is great your husband is in this with you!

current weigh in (1/8/07 tues) 176

last weigh in (1/1/07 tues) 178

total weight loss 2 lbs.

Sorry I have been out of the loop.  My laptop crashed on me during the weekend and I have spent all day yesterday trying to get it back up and running.

Emm great job on the weight loss!

Spoiled, You lost weight and quit smoking!!!  Great job!

Sky...WOW!!!  6.2! You are awesome!

PGNC, don't discouraged!  you LOST WEIGHT!!!!!!!  Everyone is different so don't compare, just keep looking at the numbers going down!!!!

To all the new ladies WELCOME!!!!!

Don't forget to drink your water!!!!  Sometimes when I think I am having a sweet craving, I go and get me a glass of water and realize I was just thirsty!!!

Keep up the good work!

Weigh in day! I had set a goal of eating 1400 calories and I have finally tweaked what I am eating to get very close to that so I am proud of that. I also had a goal of losing 5lbs and I did that exactly (must be a power of positive thinking thing - darn it I should have set it higher!)  ;)  YAY!

 Last Weigh in (01/02/08): 260

Current Weigh in (01/09/08): 255

Tomorrow is going to be a tough one since it is my son's birthday but I am going to try my best to save as many calories as I can for birthday cake. :) I hope everyone is doing good! Good luck today!

I am over 40.  45 going on 46 in 2 days.  I am 5' 10" 196 trying for 156 by mid October.  LADIES WE CAN DO IT!! WE WILL DO IT!!
