Ladies--panties question (very mildly risque)

Quote  |  Reply

Ladies, how do you feel about those panties made in that new, weird fabric?  You know, the kind like Barely There--the kind of nylon, spandex, lyrca whatever blend.  It's really soft and really thin and super stretchy.  They look like they'd be great under pants and really comfortable, but I'm curious if they give you "issues" like more prone to infections and problems you can have with non-breathable fabrics.  Anybody know?

I love them.  I wear them in the summer all the time because I wear a lot of white pants/shorts/skirts.

As far as your health concerns, I think they are better for wearing than cotton underwear b/c they don't really absorb moisture like cotton does.

Own none, but I know what you're talking about. They seem nice, but I don't want a yeast infection.

I think the manufacturing crew probably thought it over too and brainstormed a way to keep the air circulating...I'm curious as well

I don't know but I freaking love that junk. I typically trade it up with some cotton but I'm not very prone to infections apparently since I never have them and almost exclusively wear thongs. ;-P But maybe that's 'cus I don't wear underware to bed? XD

I used to get those satin ones, and they gave me issues.  they also tended to make my pants fall down, which was annoying.

I have some bras in that fabric and they are totally amazing.  My butt is jealous.

the croch is usually cotton and I never had issues...I too don't wear panties to bed either...no one should really...health reasons here, not talking sexy...

eek i wear ONLY panties to bed (sorry if that's TMI) but i've never had any health issues!

ditch 'em Jules!

I've never heard of a health reason not to wear underwear to bed...? I've taken women's health courses, biology, physiology, anatomy, microbiology, and nothin'.  Fill me in here?

if you are prone to yeast infections your Dr will advise you not to...no moisture can gather.  and if you have ever had a yeast infection, you will do anything to prevent another one even if it offeres little help

AND you SO loves it, but we aren't going there.  (not like I would EVER go there...nope, not me...)

Ohhhhh okay.  I've never had a yeast infection, so no doctor has told me that.

I hope you NEVER will...when the thought of a crow bar....

well internal itching is the polite way to describe it...

OMG no thanks!!

Yes, I've had 1 yeast infection and it has traumitized me to say the least, lol. I'm scared to wear anything BUT cotton panties (boy shorts!). Those underwear do interest me though, but I'd have to do alot of research before trying a pair.

Edit: I wear PJ bottoms and undies to bed with a t-shirt... am I doomed!? lol

Itching...burning...

*shudder*

I stick with cotton 90% of the time, but I have a pair of the Lycra/spandex panties to minimize pantylines on special occasions (like wearing a dress) because I am an official thong hater. Thong = uncomfortable wedgie feeling.
Thong = uncomfortable wedgie feeling.

agreed!  they only look good on extremely skinny/fit ppl with 0% body fat.  otherwise you pop over everywhere.  not nice...

I have lots of different types for different attire. Heh Some people have tons of pairs of shoes.. I buy lots of bra/pantie sets. Lol Different outterwear calls for different underwear. I'm a firm believer that underwear can make or break outterwear. It can enhance your appearance.

I've never had an infection or any problems due to the material ect. As far as health is concerned unless you've actually had problems ... I don't think you should be overly concerned. I don't wear the same type of panties or same ones for an extended period of time. . . That's the biggest thing I think you should think about. Hygiene. It's not about which ones are best... I mean too much of anything is a bad thing. =-P

Nobody should wear the same nasty pair without washing them.... Ew.  It's like socks yuck. If you don't every change style ... you may cause irritation. Ouch. I've never had that issue but I think it's why some women are uncomfortable with certain types. If you change from something you've constantly worn it may be hard to get used too... Or cause irritation. That's my theory.  I think women should have a collection of under garments.

I wear cotton panties 90%+.  I'll occasionally wear something else if I want to wear matching lingerie, but it's rare.  I don't wear panties at night, except occasionally when I sleep over at a friend's house and then I typically wear loose cotton shorts.  Never had a yeast infection yet.

Are you talking about the Victoria's Secret "Secret Embrace" (or similar)? If so, I can't say anything about the panties, but the bra stretched something awful for me. I thought I was getting smaller, since I kept using the next smaller clip, but turned out the bra was getting bigger. But the material was comfy.

I wear the barely there daily.  Love them.  Especially since I've lost so much weight and had to find a new kind that fit with the new lower waist style pants.  I have had a yeast infection before, a long time ago.  No issue with these new panties.  Also, if you are prone to yeast infections try eating a yogurt daily.   Seems to help many women with these issues.

Hmm good to know.  I have heard the thing about panties to bed.   Do panties impact UTIs at all?  Never heard that they did, but if they can do it for yeast, why not?
