Is this lady full of fricking horse poop or what?
Sarah Palin, on ABC right now.
Oh no war is hell but god said we should go there, and my son is doing it so god must be right.
This lady is coming off awful bad in this interview.
And I, for one, couldn't be more pleased, that she sounds like a bible thumping, hypocritical, horse poop artist.
"Do you agree with the Bush doctrine?"
"What do you mean Charlie?"
And you sound like a sub-literate petulant child.
How about some profound critical analysis? Something that appeals to rational principles in government rather than a simple-minded angry rant?
Manalive! I may not agree with her either but at least she is attempting to appeal to ideas and honest intellectual discourse. You ought to try it sometime. I tell you what, how about telling us why, arguing from first principles, Sarah Palin's ideas are irrational. They indeed are so you shouldnt have any trouble, unless all you have is silly insults.
OH man! I forgot about this... watching now.. and she is back peddling on her original stand of global warming is not man made... LMAO Can't wait to watch the whole thing.
woahhh now "marneedear," uptight much?
Sarah Palin is an idiot.
I feel no need to back this up.
I'm writing in a forum, not typing up an essay.
So I say continue with the silly insults.
A BA in Journalism does not qualify you to be a VP... Her ignorance is insane...
I think I am just going to start making things up that "god" told me to do.
like....
punch old people and pee on small animals.
because god told me to.
That's incredibly painful.
Vodka out the nose hurts like hell too

Did she say this "Oh no war is hell but god said we should go there, and my son is doing it so god must be right."
Someone else is an idiot? Someone you've heard of for what, a few weeks? Who you've never spoke to, but still "know"?
AND you don't feel a need to back that up!
People who make decisions without facts make themselves look like idiots, in my opinion.
I remember when disagreeing with someone's point of view was a process of reasoning. I don't agree with most of what Bush believes, or with what Obama believes for that matter. But.... let's make decisions on more than this, please!
All I have to say is, prior to her being named VP candidate, I still would likely have voted for Obama, but I would have been ok if McCain had won the election. Now, there's no way in hell I'd vote for McCain, and I'm going to step up my efforts as an Obama proponent.
I simply can't in any way support someone who denies abortion rights, even in the case of rape and incest. Nor can I support someone who wants to teach creationism in the classroom--that's what church is for. It's called "Science" class, not "Science and a little bit of religion thrown in to appease right-wing conservatives" class. If they want to add the additional stipulation that evolution now be taught in church, well, I assume at least that would be a compromise. And certainly, to teach abstinence only sex-ed is just ridiculous. Of course, people have every right to teach their children that that is the only "right" way to behave (if that's what they believe), but to deny them the basic knowledge of how to protect themselves if ever found in that situation is ludicrous. And just because people would like to believe that their perfect little children would never do something as foolish as have premarital sex, you can never guarantee what partner has done, or is doing, without your knowledge. People may profess one thing, but hide a lot of skeletons in their closets. This is the same thing with the Gardasil debate, and I for one, would rather my child be protected, and then hopefully make mature and rational decisions using all the information available to them (including abstinence).
But besides all that, when did the presidential race become about the VPs? Except of course, that it's terrifying that if McCain does win, he might not be healthy enough (or live long enough) to serve out 8 or even 4 years (this being said with no knowledge of his current health status, just a comment on the fact that he is 72). Then, God forbid, we'd be stuck with Palin.
And by the way, all this is written from the perspective of a staunch feminist.
speaking as an outside observer, ( i'm from Ireland), i'm holding my breath over this election. For all the reasons Iwigsca argued and the future direction of American foriegn policy, I sincerely hope Obama gets elected. You gotta hand it to the Republicans though, they've pulled a blinder in Palin, trying to get all the disgruntled Hillary voters, I hope they don't fall for it!
When she said new-cue-lar instead of nuclear, I cringed. She has been very well coached in how to respond to buzzwords. She's been coached in how to sound like she knows what she's talking about.
I think Charlie Gibson did a good job with the question about the Bush doctrine. It was obvious that she didn't know what he was talking about, but was very skillful in faking it until she caught on.
Let's see how it goes in subsequent interviews.
As a general question.... does all this invoking the Almighty actually do candidates any favours? Does the electorate get a warm and fuzzy glow hearing that politicians are getting instructions from on high or do the alarm bells start to ring? Tony Blair famously kept his religious convictions to himself for fear of being seen as - using his own words- a 'nutter'.
I was trying to find out if Sarah Palin said, "Oh no war is hell but god said we should go there, and my son is doing it so god must be right."
And I found this article: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/02/pali ns-church-may-have-sh_n_123205.html
I wonder if there's someone who's actually ambivalent about Sarah Palin. It seems like, if you're already Democrat Leaning, she's another Bible-Thumping Idiot, possibly as bad if not worse than Bush. If you're already conservative leaning, the woman's SuperMom, the best thing in the republican national convention since Ronald Reagan.
At least that's what it seems to me.
I wonder if there's anyone who is somewhere in the middle.

As a general answer: hearing politicians invoke their perception of the almighty, and imply they are the chosen ones makes me question their overall sanity.
Half expect them to channel the Blues Brothers...

Well, I'm definitely Democrat leaning, but I don't think Palin's a Bible thumping idiot. I think she's, quite simply, not ready to fill the VP slot, and manifestly unqualified. She maneuvered around the "Bush Doctrine" question well, but not enough to convince me she knows what she's talking about. Heck, even I could have answered that question without pretending that Gibson was being unclear in his phrasing.
I agree with my hubby - even if McCain does not win, we haven't seen the last of Palin. After 4 more years as a Governor, she would probably have a legitimate shot at the Presidential nomination in 2012. She comes off well enough with composure, but isn't quite polished, and while they may be trying to pull out a Professor Higgins, I don't see it being enough in 50+ days.
