Larabars vs Luna bars

Quote  |  Reply

Which of these do you prefer? I have never had a larabar before, and am unsure whether or not I should buy some, since they don't have as much calcium content as the Luna bars. As far as the flavors of the Luna bars go, I like the ones that have a fruity or nutty flavor in them the most, like toasted nutz & cranberry and chocolate pecan pie. Will I like the larabars?

I love larabars!  In my opinion they taste much better than lunabars, which I can't stand.

Since the only ingrediants in larabars tend to be fruits and nuts, you should like them.  When in doubt, just try one for yourself.

Another vote for Larabars! They're vegan, soy-free, heart-healthy, whole-food friendly, raw, unprocessed, and delicious! The only reason Luna bars have calcium is from added supplements anyway.

Larabar here, because they contain "real" ingredients only and they taste very good to me. I'm choosing to eat as few unprocessed foods as possible and Lunabars (yes, they taste good) are very processed. But, totally understand that taste buds play a big role, so if you need this kind of a bar for a snack during your day, go for the one that you like.

LARA Bars!! I second the opinion of apple pie, cherry pie and lemon bar as the best flavors. Mmm. All natural goodness.

I prefer Larabars, especially the cherry pie and key lime pie flavors.  Luna bars make me feel sick...  The Clif Nectar bars are really good too.

I'm pretty much in LOVE with LUNA bars! I love the Chocolate Peppermint the most! It feels like such a treat! I've never tried Larabars though. Will have to take a look next time I go shopping. Thanks!

Luna bars make me feel sick...

Same here. And they all smell and taste somewhat similar because of all the isolated soy protein and cane syrup. A typical Luna bar has about 35-40 ingredients; yes, I counted. A typical Lara bar has only two or three. That tells you something right there. I'd rather be eating organic dates and cherries than sodium citrate and "natural flavoring".

LUNA BARS!!

omg caramel nut brownie .. *drool*

Luna bars are better than larabars. I'm not sure but I think the larabars have more fat. And just because Luna bars have more ingredients doesn't make them an inferior product.

Of course, I don't eat either anyway anymore because of the sugar.
I guess it depends on if you have a huge sweet tooth or not. I've never tried the Larabars, but I LOVE the Luna bars. I eat at least one a day.

I just tried the Cherry Pie...it tasted like a very very sweet dried date to me, which I didn't really like when I started eating, but it grew just a little on me as I was finishing xD; I guess I'll give another flavor a whack, and if that is unsatisfying, I'll just go back to Luna. Since I'm not that big of a fan of raisins being the main taste in a food, do you guys still suggest trying the apple pie and lemon flavored one? What about the nut and chocolate flavors? Are they any good?

it's your own personal preference. personally i love larabars, because the ingredients are so simple and healthy. just because luna bars taste better does not make them healthier! they are cookies filled with vitamins and minerals. i think luna bars are great if you want a cookie or decadent dessert, but larabars are a more pure and whole food. i am not too keen on the cherry variety, but all the others are delicious! watch out for the fat content though. while the apple pie has 3.5 grams, the pecan pie has 10!!
oh, as an afterthought-- try the jocolat bars. they are manufactured by the same company, and they're incredibly decadent. they're basically brownies, but completely guilt-free.

Actually, since I fall behind on my fats every day, I was interested in trying the larabars to make up for that deficit in good fats, so the nut variety is probably more suited for me. I'll try another fruit one before going into the nuts. And I guess I'll try the coffee jocolat one, since I'm a coffee-flavor freak xD;  I've heard not-so-good things about those bars as opposed to the larabars, though.

Mmm I didn't really love the ginger snap one; it was okay.  Do all the bars basically taste like dates? =S  They're not bad; it's just that I would not prefer to have that flavor completely overpower any other flavor within a food xD;

Ah, nevermind, I tried the Pecan Pie and absolutely loved it.  This was exactly what I was looking for xD;  Anybody try the Cashew cookie yet?

I just tried the Cashew Cookie Larabar and absolutely, positively loved it.  I also don't love the varieties that taste too much like dates.
