What was the last book that you couldn't put down?

Hey all! I'm on the hunt for a new set of books to read for the summer, and I CANNOT find anything that I want to read! The last book that I really got sucked into was Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen, and I'm a big sucker for historical fiction. (I loved "Dream When You're Feeling Blue" and some other time pieces are just to die for.)

So, what was the last book you couldn't put down? Whats your favorite book of all time? Do you have any other suggestions for books I should read?

Favorite Book(s): The Virgin Suicide, The Hobbit, A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, Gemma Doyle Trilogoy

Last book that you couldnt put down: Water For Elephants

Other suggestions: _____

"We need to talk about Kevin" by Lionel Shriver

My top ten. Fiction novel unless noted : )
"You Shall Know Our Velocity" by Dave Eggers
"House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski
"Dry" by Augusten Burroughs (memoir)
"Lullaby" by Chuck Pahalanuik
"Said the Shotgun to the Head" by Saul Williams (poetry)
"Lamb" by Christopher Moore
"Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" by Hunter S. Thompson (journalism)
"The Body" by Stephen King (short story)
"The Stranger" by Albert Camus
"Blindness" by Jose Saramago

Based on your interests, have you read The Beach and/or Corelli's Mandolin?

"The Thirteenth Tale" by Diane Setterfield is the book my sister proclaims is her favorite. I recently read it and liked it, even though it wasn't the type of book I normally dig into.

And, yeah, Lullaby by Pahalanuik was pretty entertaining.

I've owned the book, Wicked, for some time and it's always next on my list to read. However, my friends all took turns borrowing it and I just finally got it back.

The last, couldn't put down, book I read was 'The House At Riverton' by Kate Morton.  It's about a housemaid in a 1920's English manor house and her friendship with the mistress of the house.

I love 'The Shadow Of The Wind' by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.  A book about books, what could be better?

(Edit: to add additional detail)

Paths of Glory by Jeffrey Archer

Swallowing Grandma by Kate Millar

I'm reading A Thousand Splendid Suns...can't put it down! i think its supposed to be a follow up to the Kite Runner or something, but i havent read that yet...I have even found myself grabbing it during a slow time at work =] (bad bad..i know) Also have recently read 1984, pretty good, not my favorite, but i flew threw it

A Chocolate Moose for Dinner by Fred Gwynne (from The Munsters).

No, I really didn't like Wicked.

Favorite, all time:

Anything by Jane Austen (except Mansfield Park -- Fanny irritates me).

Last thing(s) I couldn't put down:

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society.

The Golden Compass.

Two of my favorite historical fiction novels are:

The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America by Erik Larson

The Linnet Bird by Linda Holeman

"A Song of Ice and Fire" series by George R.R. Martin.  Right now there are 4 books out, with the fifth to be released (hopefully) in October.

For Austen fans, check out Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Byzantium by Stephen Lawhead
