Hi Everyone, Im wondering if there is anyone out there who is struggling to lose those stubborn last ten pounds??
I'm 33 with two little girls and have struggled over the years to find the motivation to get the final ten pounds I put on with my second pregnancy (almost 4 years ago) off for good.
I'm 5'3 and as of my Saturday weigh in I'm 128lbs. Not huge I know, but I have a very small frame and a rather large muffin top!!!
My aim is to stop my regular glass of red when the kids are in bed and maybe have just 1 or 2 at the weekend. Aim for exercising 4-5 times a week and sticking to a 1200 cal ish diet.
I'm planning to weigh in every sat (to prevent the usual Friday night binge!!)
Anybody want to join in??
Karenxxxxx
I am SO in with you. This weekend was the worst eating weekend of my life, and I'm supposed to be dieting!!! It was horrible. Awful. I want to cry just thinking about everything that I un-did in the past 3 days. Mortifying. But there's nothing I can do about all of that now. Just have to move on and do better...
So, yeah, I'm in the final push as well. My goal weight is between 130-135, anywhere in that range would be great. Right now I am at 143 (on Friday I was 139.8...tells you what my weekend was like...again, I want to cry...). I plan on exercising 6 times a week and keeping my calories in the 1200-1400 range, trying to stay closer to 1200. I'm going on vacation to Mexico in just 31 days and want to look my best...it's crunch time...
Hi Karagus,
OOoooo, I'm so Jealous, I've been to mexico 3 times, its absolutley fab, and definately a good reason to get rid of those last 10 lbs!!!
I'm going to stick my meals on here so I cant cheat. Weekends are a bugg3r arent they, its like a license to eat ridiculous amounts of food. My Hubby is away at the mo with the military til mid July and I'm aiming to look less like a heffalump by the time he comes back, so thats my motivation.
Lets do this then xx
I've TOTALLY been struggling for a long time to lose the last 10 pounds after losing 71 already. So I've rededicated myself, set a goal date, started a blog, and I'm really serious about getting it done this time!
Check out the blog to follow my progress, add comments and experiences, etc.!

Hello everyone,
I would love to join you in losing the last ten pounds. I am weighing in right now at 118.2 (as of this morning) and want to get down to the weight I was just one year ago of about 107-108 lbs (I am 5'3"). I too am planning on 4-5 days a week of exercising (swimming, jogging, biking) and about a 1200-1400 per day calorie average.
Does anyone have a goal date for their loss? I am hoping my last 10 or so are off by labor day!
Good Luck.
Stukay- according to most BMI charts you're already below your ideal weight. Why so set on another 10 pounds?
Karen- I'm like you, I always budget my calories a little bit under because I know I'll have a bit of this or that throughout the day, and just in case the calorie count on an item or two is a bit off.
Karagus- I know weekends like that are so hard to resist. The weekends in general are hard when it comes to calorie counting. But now, it's time to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and recover. Your weight is probably up a bit because you ate so much more sodium and carbs than your body is used to. Drink more than 8 glasses of water a day this week, watch your sodium levels, and I promise the scale will fall back to where it was in no time. Good for you for getting right back on track. Many folks out there fall off the wagon, and then throw in the towel. Keep up the great work.
I know we can get rid of the last 10. I personally can't wait for the MAINTENANCE phase of life, how great will that be!?!?!?! Hooray!
I'm with you all. Why does it seem as though the last 10 pounds are never going anywhere?
Here is my brief history:
November 21st- quit smoking (120lbs)
Proceeded to put on almost 20lbs and didn't notice until April
April 3rd- became aware of what I was eating on a more regular basis (138lbs)
May- Started eating better and started light cardio 2 times a week (134lbs)
June 1st- Started 30 day vegan cleanse and strict calorie counting 1200-1400. Intermediate Cardio 2-3 times a week (132lbs)
June 16th- Cannot get past 130lbs w/12-1400 calorie diet and intermediate cardio 3 times a week
I've been a vegetarian for about 4 years now and decided to do a vegan cleanse for the month just to help jump start the weight loss and it seems to be helping, but not as much as I'd like. I eat a 1200-1400 calorie diet and do interval training 3 times a week, but I'm thinking I need to hype up the exercise for the last 10 before I can reach that sweet, sweet maintenance phase.
Any encouragement or advise is warmly welcome.
Good luck everyone!
Tara
Karagus - I, like you, have a vacation coming up to motivate me! I will be leaving for a trip to Colorado in just 25 days. Hoping to tone up bit before then.
Lauren - Wow - your blog is great! I am sure that is going to be an extra motivator for you as you reach the finish line. As for your question to me, I am not totally set on 10 pounds lost. I wear the weight that I have gained in the past year on all the wrong places. I seem to have stockpiled a great deal around my waist area which can, later down the road, be a sign on health problems (diabetes, heart disease) which unfortunately can be found in my family history. My actual goal is to lose the fat, gain some muscle, and hopefully make it a habit to exercise regularly and eat healthy! If I am able to get down to my healthy goal weight in the meantime, that is alright by me! =)
Karen - It is great that you have the great motivator of looking forward to your husband arriving. How long has he been away?
Hi Stukay,
He'll have been away for four months in total, with one month to go, so not too long now.
Stukay- Totally understood. I too struggle with the belly fat thing. Good for you for toning up and paying attention to your future health!
Thanks for the comment on the blog. I hope you'll keep reading!
:-) Lauren
Lauren - thanks for your words of wisdom! I've already lost 2 of those pounds just by going back to my regular eating habits :) And, your blog inspired me to start my own. It's fun!
Stukay - Don't you think vacations are the best motivator?! I haven't wore a bikini in 7 years or so, and I am so ready to wear the two adorable ones I bought earlier in the summer!!! I think that I look just o.k. in them now, with a few more pounds lost I'll look great!
I'm like you guys too, Karen and Lauren, I try to plan my meals to between 800-900 calories and then I can have some snacks and munch here and there, I've been doing really well with that system. I also try to eat between 12-1400 calories a day.
I've found a new favorite piece of cardio equipment at the gym. It's called the Arc Trainer and I find that I burn calories more efficiently on there than I do on the elliptical. It's very similar to the eliptical only your legs move in more of a horizontal direction than with the eliptical. I really have fun with it, especially at the nice gym (I'm at college and there are a few gyms to choose from) where they have little personal television screens at each cardio machine! It is so nice, what a great distraction. I just watch music videos the whole time and don't even realize how much work I'm doing.
Everyone keep up the good work :)
Hi,
Where has everyone gone??
I hope everyone is still up for the weigh in tom??? I'm out tonight and will probably be having a few red wines!! I'm hoping it wont effect my progress too much. hey ho you have to live eh???
Good luck girls
xxxx
Weighed myself today...I'm at 141, but on a different scale than what I have been using as I'm home from school for a week or so. So, down 2 pounds after my terrible week last week, which is good :) I am pleased. 6 more pounds or so.
Being home helps my diet so much! My mom is a health freak (with the exception of all of the CANDY which she loves so much!!!) so we eat very healthy meals and snacks, and I feel like I'm more conscious of what and how much I eat when I'm around my family because they know I'm trying to lose weight and would be so judgemental if they saw me eat a bunch of junk, unlike my boyfriend who brings junk to my apartment and eats it with me instead of discouraging me from it. He doesn't want to offend me, but I want him to cut me off!
I brought one of my fitness DVDs home so me and my sister are going to work out together later. Cardio Kickbox, part of Jillian Michael's Biggest Loser DVDs. It's the only one out of the set for which you do not need dumbells, and I didn't want to pack mine.
Hopefully everyone's doing good out there!!! Stay motivated! I've been trying to keep a positive outlook!
