Okay, so I definitely did something wrong last night. And I was wondering if someone could help me point out my faults.
I'm on week 3, day 3 of the couch to 5k program. I thought it would be a breeze.
I usually go running in the early evening, and on Saturdays, in the morning. Yesterday I went at 9:30 at night. I had duck for dinner, right before I left, which may not have been so smart, but I went running on impulse. So, I almost finished (I was at the last 3 minute run for those familiar with the program) and I HAD to stop, like my body stopped me. I thought I was going to throw up, or pass out or something. And this has never happened to me before!
I was wondering what I did wrong. Was it running so late at night after a long day? Or eating fatty duck right before running? Or maybe I was too tired (I usually hit the hay around 10pm or so)? Any comments would be appreciated.

I would blame it on the food. I can't eat anything for about 90 minutes before I run, even something light; I can feel it in my stomach the whole run and get awful cramps. I like to run at night (and yes, I realize it's not the safest thing) and don't think the time of day necessarily has anything to do with your troubles yesterday. So, no worries! Congrats on making it this far in the program and keep it up (sans duck next time :) )

I too, am thinking it was how soon after eating that you ran. I need at least an hour before I do ANY heavy workout after eating (Tae Kwon Do, weight lifting, etc.) and if I am running, need longer, like 90 minutes. Cramping is an issue, your body is working to digest and you are asking it to split resources for running too, and of course, greasy duck may even cause some symptoms of gastric discomfort even without adding moderate to vigorous exercise on top of it. (Grin)
I doubt it was time of night because you already work out routinely in the evenings and our bodies are pretty adaptable that way.
Anyway, great work on your progress so far! and consider it a lesson learned.
