Yea and she definitely needed that!
I think Bob was way out of line! This is not how (most) personal trainers behave. In this case, it worked out, but his (and Jillian's) methods would not work for me. I think they give people the wrong impression of what an experience with a personal trainer is like.
on one hand bob was out of line for telling a grown woman to "shut the f up" likes she's some kind of idiot or something. Then again....that lady really needed to shut the f up. She wouldnt have deserved it if she hadnt coerced her friend, who clearly was not happy to go home, to let her stay at the ranch.
Can someone tell me why most of the teams only had one contestant? I missed most of the episode and only saw the weigh-in.
The grandparents looked so cute in the "after" photos :)
each team (except for the brown and black teams who had immunity the first week) had to send home one of their team members while the other one stayed at the ranch. if the teammate who is at the ranch manages to NOT get eliminated after 1 month, then the other teamate can come back to the ranch. Until then, though, the other teammate has to work on losing weight at home, by themselves, even though they are technically still in the game.
Wow. that sucks.
ya. and that girl joelle (the one who bob yelled at) kind of pissed off her teammate by sending her home. her teamate carla (?) really wanted to stay but agreed to go home because joelle begged to stay.
It's such a shame that Joelle did NOT fall below the yellow line last night, because she so deserved to go home. She seemed to think she was going to be spending the month at a health spa, not a boot camp!
ya. i do kind of feel bad for her in the sense that she is now going to be portrayed as "the annoying girl" before all of america, but she was just acting so weird and lame with all the talking and whining.
Jessica, I'm going to have to rewatch that part of last week's TBL because I don't remember Joelle begging to stay, I thought she was begging to leave and Carla was adamant that Joelle stay so she'd be pushed hard. I seem to remember Carla telling Joelle when they announced who was leaving that she would leave as a test of their friendship and something about showing Joelle how strong she can be....or something to that effect (that last part).
My feeling is that Joelle isn't at a place with herself enough to give this a strong enough try. Or maybe better put...she hasn't had her AHA! moment yet??
There are plenty of people just like Joelle...big, not liking being big, wanting to be thin but feel they aren't strong enough or good enough or whatever enough to get there so they give their "best" or what they think is their best and use that as an excuse when it's not good enough to see the expected results. Hmm...
I liked last night's episode. I personally loved that Bob went off on her. Did you hear her when she was exercising...her Yes sirs, I will try harder sir, You want perfection sir, and stuff like that? That led me to believe she was looking to be TOLD what to do.
I'm just glad none of these contestants seem as evil as Vicky (and Heba) of last season.
hmm. i thought that it was a test to their friendship because carla wanted to stay and if joelle stayed and got eliminated, carla would be pissed. i deleted the episode from my dvr, so i cant rewatch it.
it was kind of weird seeing joelle say "yes, sir. you want perfection" she just keeps talking instead of doing--which is totally typical during weight loss--but im sure all the contestants wanted to quit, but they realized that they are on the biggest loser and its a big deal. i honestly dont know what joelle thinks the biggest loser is.
all of the contestants are pretty sweet. even joelle. she seems very nice, but weak.

I do remember carla saying it was a test of their friendship, but I'm not sure exactly what she meant by it. I was really hoping sh'e take that 25G and go buy the house in MI she wanted for $5,000.
I guess she just really doesn't feel like she deserves to be fit and healthy which is really sad.
I absolutely LOVE this show. How cool was it when the people who were done with the challenge went back down the hill to help out Dan. I like to see these people trying to help each other. I know they are completing for money but that isn't what the show is really all about. I was really hoping Joelle was gonna go home. Her heart isn't in it. Bob did get a little crazy but I can't say I'd have acted any differently in his situation.
I am so glad that Dan (? - not sure if that is his name) stayed. He is so young and so heavy. It bugged me that his partner went home and immediately started eating the hog dots and french fries. At first he ordered water and I was so proud of him. Then the hot dogs and french fries came out and I was thinking, OMG, that meal is close to 1,000 calories.
It is going to be very difficult for the partners at home to return to the ranch and still have a shot at winning if they are not absolutely committed. How can you work out at home and hope to compete with someone who loses 17 pounds in one week? Amazing.
I really like the father/son team too.
That Joelle needed to be yelled at like that, maybe not cursed at but. Like Jillian says "If you want results you have to work for them" I don't think Joelle will stick with the program anyway, she is in it for the money not the lifestyle change.
I am bummed about Jerry the grandpa going home, but the younger kid really does need more help with changing his life. I hope he goes far. On the other hand I hope that Jerry gets support at home and does well.
This Show Rocks.. I love it.
That outburst was glorious! Am I the only one proud of Bob? After how he coddled Vicky and Heba last year, I'm glad to see him keeping his group in line. He is such a sweet and caring trainer, I think it was good for him to have a little Jillian moment.
TBL is my favorite show of all time. I get so intertwined in it--if they cry, i cry lol. I just want to see everyone succeed and be healthy!!!
Sure some people may think/get the wrong impression about personal training from Jillian or Bob's methods, but also remember: 1.) ITS TV--they need stuff like that. 2.) These contestants are in desperate need of a huge push...they led a lazy life prior and they are like children who need to be taught a lesson lol. Plus being nice with weight loss is not the way to go, because its easier to cheat and fall off the wagon or not try as hard.
BUT most importantly--I HATE JOELLE! she is a terrible friend...just the fact that she even CONSIDERED that temptation--just to move out of her mothers house is not fair to her "FRIEND" Carla. Joelle is not what I would consider a true friend and I honestly feel as though she was a spoiled brat for wanting to be the one to stay meanwhile Carla was the heaviest woman ever on the show--its just not right. I could go on forever about how Joelle is the new Vicki (as in the person we are going to despise this season.)....ahhh!
Did you see at the end when they previewed next week's show it looked like they brought back Carla to whip Joelle in to shape? Or was that footage of before she left? The voice over said something about a friendship being put to the test. I was like, "Oooooh, she is in trouble now!" My guess is that she would rather face Bob 10 times a day than Carla. Anyone catch that?
I was a little perturbed with Bob because of the profanity. My kids love that show and - even though they beep it out, it's obvious. So crude - use your brain- get a vocabulary. On the first episode I think I counted 5 times that contestants said, "freaking", "fricking", "frigging" - whatever. I guess that is an adjective/adverb these days. Not that this is Biggest Scholar or anything (and wasn't THAT apparent last season - HEE HAW) but it would be nice if it would be a little more family friendly in that regard because I think it is highly inspirational viewing - even for kids.
That was just my little 2 cents :).
I saw that show, and is she messes this up for her friend.. I would never in my life talk to her again.. I mean come on.. Just pull your weight and do the freaking work.. What more can you do/with all that talk, talk, talk....... When they was talking about leaving the ranch for that money, and I heard her talking about it.. I got pissed again. I didn't like her from the start, and I felt the wrong one went home.. As you see the other girl wants to do the work, and be there.. That girl is just full of it. Maybe Bob need to get Jillian's Mom in there to see what the hell is going on in that damn head of her's.. Yes Sir.. Come on. Just shut up and do the work. I was so pissed.
I get my A kicked pretty good at the gym, and my trainer is like a Jillian in away... You don't ask questions about anything you do.. You just do it. I heard one of the trainer at my gym tell a man. It's your money, if you want to waste it.. Go right a head.. I'm not fat.. That pissed me off. But he was right about him wasting his money.. He said, you might as well go home, and come back when you are ready to do the work he said..
But you don't get the chance to come back once you are voted off.. They was sent home.. Not voted off.. You just have to do the work to bring them back.. That woman just pissed me off... But in away.. I knew why the other girl did it.. Went home.. She knew she wouldn't do the work on her own at home, but she still could lose a friendship over being a cry baby... I'm with BOB.. SHUT THE F UP!
I love the Biggest Loser!!! And I'm routing for Tara this season : ) She is so sweet and determined!
Didn't anyone else hear Joelle talking about the other contestants?? She something about how they are all working really hard and pushing themselves until they're super sweaty and throwing up. Then she openly admitted that she wasn't ready to push herself that far?!?!! And yes, I was just as mad as the rest of you when she almost accepted the $25k : ( I really wish Carla could have stayed on the campus. She cracks me up her dancing and work outs at home : )
I am glad that Bob yelled at Joelle though. I think she IS the type of person that needs to be pushed like that. I agree that it works for some and not others...but in this case, Joelle needs commands. You know what the worst part is though?? She's not mean, evil, or hateful. She's very respectful and nice...she just doesn't think sometimes and she's lazy. If she could be a little evil, then it would be so much easier for me to hate her : ) I agree with shapes44 - Joelle is going to be the one that drives us crazy this season : )
