those last pesky pounds......???

Quote  |  Reply

I've been using cc since the end of Feb. So far, 50 pounds gone.  I am very happy with these results, however, i am 9 pounds away from my original goal and have seemed to hit my FIRST plateau.  What do I do to lose those last 9 pesky pounds??????  HELP : ))

How long have you been at a plateau?  If only a week, that's not bad, just hang in there.  If longer, maybe you should consider eating at maintenance level or just below for one week, then get back at it the next week.

Edit - PS - I forgot to congratulate you on 50 lbs!  That a big deal.  That's my goal, and I'm at 35 today, so 15 more for me...

Congrats and thank you. !  It's been a few weeks and I never understood the plateau frustration until now! Will try adjusting my numbers and see what happens.  Thanks again.

I agree....maybe zigzag your cal intake for a week or so.

Or....take a week off of everything all together. Sometimes it helps to 'reset' your body, and then the next week when you get back at it, they'll start dropping off!

Congrats, though! 50 is NOT easy, and you are so close to your goal! You should be so proud of yourself!

Congratulations on 50 lbs that is absolutely amazing!

I have recently lost 120 lbs and I hit plateaus every 20 lbs in the beginning then every ten. Blah. So I understand how stubborn they can be.

Basically your body just gets used to what you are doing so you need to switch it up.

I agree that zig zagging your calorie intake for a bit will probably be all you need to re start your weight loss.

Personally, it also helped me if I switched up my exercise.  I would also go on occasional high calorie weekends.  I was averaging about 1500 calories a day but I would bump it up to about 2200 calories only for a day or two.

Congrats again. And good luck with those last few pounds.

congrats! i agree with everyone else you'll have to change things up a bit. exercise & eating habits. and zig zagging helps the sanity as well. also it doesn't do any harm to take a week off (but still be reasonable in your activity level & food choices). your brain & body will come back refreshed. to keep things in perspective, 50lb is a lot, you've lost the equivalent of a 7 year old child.

Thanks everyone!  Will look into zig zagging, or may just take this weekend off (I have 2 parties to go to).  I am also going back to work when my son starts school so I will be on my feet at least 6 hours a day, that will change up my exercise routine.

RNJT- I know.  I have a 5 year old who is 50.2 pounds.   When I get frustrated my husband tells me to look at him because that is what I have lost so far!

I'm in the same boat. It seems like I'm on a plateu but I'm not. It's just taking longer to lose now. It's taken me a month to drop just 4 pounds.

I'm so close though. If I shake the last bit of fat over my abdomen, I can see my six pack abs clear as day. Damn this pesky fat!
