Best tactic... approach the following day as if nothing had happened.  Enjoy your usual diet, eat your normal breakfast, maybe skip a snack if you're not all that hungry between meals.  Try to be as active as possible, drink plenty of fluids and.... very important.... stay off the scales for a few days.

Chances are your biscuits and chocolate etc., when spread out over the week, won't affect your weight-loss.   In fact, eating a little more from time to time can even be good for weight-loss.  But if you were to 'skip the grains' or eat a lot less in order to compensate you can find yourself feeling hungry and therefore more likely to repeat what happened.

Agreed. Never compensate for a binge - just move on like nothing happened and start your day over as normal. Compensating can lead to binge-restrict cycles and you don't want that. If you wish do a little more exercise or be a little more active but nothing that sees you trying to "burn off the binge".

I found a brilliant website recently, as I've been having old emotional eating feelings and thoughts cropping up a lot. I've only slipped up once but it's still a very good resource.

After the Binge - By Annette Colby, PhD, RD, LD

Including a very true fact:

Before you sink into self-defeat, here's an encouraging scientific nutrition
fact: Even the biggest binge won't add fat to your body. Adding body
fat requires that you continue overeating over a period of time. An
isolated binge will not have an effect on your body fat stores.

Still, have a good read through that website. It should help. :]

thanks lala. that was a very helpful site. I found this quote to be especially helpful:

I will take care of my body as a loving mother takes care of her
child. I love myself unconditionally.

As gi-jane and lalabanana said, do not compensate for a binge. Just go on about your day as if nothing happened.

I agree with all of the above.  Move on, learn from your mistake.  Get rid of those oreos!, or anything elst that might trigger you to mindlessly eat.  Re-read your own post.  Do you want that to happen again?  Good Luck~
