Late Night Snacking. How Do I Stop This?
This happens to me all the time. At first I would do what you're doing, I would eat what I would normally eat as a snack. Now what I"m doing is eating a rice cake. It works well for me because I like rice cakes. . . if you don't, this probably will be of no use to you. However, they're big, puffy, and fill you up yet one plain rice cake only has 35 calories so no worries about putting on weight.
Hope this helps!!!
My trick to not eat at night -- I made a deal with myself that I wouldn't eat anything that I couldn't login the same day, because I know I will forget. Then I turn off my computer after dinner. If it's not on, I can't log it, so I can't eat it.
Haven't had children yet so I don't know how calorie counting works during pregnancy. I know it must be easy to put a lot of weight on during that time, but on the other hand you're eating for 2, so to me if you wake up that hungry then you should eat and eat the other snack too! I think it's all still within reason, it's not a big deal to fluctuate calories a bit day by day anyway (it's even a good thing, look up zig zag method).
Y know, some people might be surprised that you are counting calories while expecting. I say - Good for you.
I've heard several people in the medical field (including doctors) agree that for a lot of women, pregnancy = "best excuse for guilt free binging 24/7" resulting in major health problems, pregnancy induced diabetes, and LOTS of weight gain that is completely uncalled for. I myself have had friends who did this and BLEW UP on the SPOT, after giving birth, they are devastated at the abnormal amount of weight gain and have a hard time getting rid of it.
As long as your dr. is involved and you are doing it in a healthy way, good for you! Don't let the whole, "You should be eating for 2!" sayings fool you.
Try eating hearty healthy calories, and not necessarily empty ones. For example, I could eat x amount of calories by eating x amount of crackers, or I could do the same thing with a savory piece of leftover beef or chicken.
Here's another idea, if you can spare about a quarter of your lunch or dinner put it away in the fridge, have some extra water, (you should still log the calories), and eat it on your late night munchie run.
Eating the right number of calories lets you and your baby gain the proper amount of weight. During the first 3 months of your pregnancy, you do not need to change the number of calories you are eating.
Normal-weight women need an extra 300 calories each day during the last 6 months of pregnancy. This totals about 1,900 to 2,500 calories a day. If you were underweight, overweight, or obese before you became pregnant, or if you are pregnant with more than one baby, you may need a different number of calories. Talk to your health care provider about how much weight you should gain and how many calories you need.
i think that if you are that hungry in the night you probly need the extra calories, and you should eat them! you should have and extra snack as pregnant women need at least an extra 300 calories than normal.
I think for your baby's sake you should just listen to your body and eat when your hungry and try not to worry about it too much, if you eat healthy foods you wont put on extra weight! but you body knows whats best for you, as everyone is different so listen to what it tells you and if your hungry ....eat!! :)

I think you might want to looka t this. and most importantly talk to your Dr. they know what is best for your body. I am diabetic with many health issues. I was told that what they were doing to me during my babies is what they wish they could get every woman to do. I was healthy because of it. But I was bad when I wasn't PG. and I gained all this weight that I am working to get off now. anyway. THought I would send this link to you. It will help. Promise.
