Laughing cow vs. fat free cream cheese?
What's the difference? They seem like they're essentially the same thing, but Laughing Cow wedges are just flavored and more expensive?
Is there a fat-free version of laughing cow? Because the regular kind certainly is not. I would bet that the processes for making them are different, and so someone else may tell you the real differences, but to someone like me who only spreads them on bread I'd say they are basically the same other than that laughing cow tastes better (even the plain.)
The light (50% less fat) Laughing cow wedges have 35 calories and 2 grams of fat in one 21 gram wedge.
21 grams or 1.4 tbs of fat free cream cheese has 20 calories and 0 grams of fat.
I'd say laughing cow wedges are good for portion control, and they have a different flavor profile. They are made with different cheeses than cream cheese.
I agree, and I was basically wondering the same thing as well.
Laughing Cow is just much more overpriced and higher in calories, but ohhh so cute in a little foil triangle ;) The only thing I like about them more is that they're portable.
I love the flavored ones. But when it comes to the swiss I prefer using fat free cream cheese because they taste the same to me. lol
I do agree though, a portion controlled wedge is easier than measuring out a tbsp. of cream cheese from a tub. Unless you weigh it as well, you never truly know the exact amount you're getting. But if you measure correctly, a few calories won't make much difference.
i personally think that laughing cow wedges are kinda gross. the texture is really slimy, unlike cream cheese, and they don't really taste like cheese at all, they just have this really fake taste. i'd definetely take cream cheese over laughing cow anyday.
I can't imagine putting laughing cow on a bagel or toast...blech! It's definitely got more of that fake cheesy taste than fat free cream cheese does.
For me, it depends what I'm using it on. Sometimes, I like to mix ff cream cheese and laughing cow wedges for my bagel, but I'm still not a big fan of either. Haha. I use it just because its there.
i have completely replaced all cream cheese with laughing cow. i love it! i put it on my toast or english muffin in the morning and add a couple of slices of low fat ham for breakfast. i would say definetley laughing cow. it's worth the price.
