Why 10-15lb fluctuate bulimia?
What do they mean when they say a characteristic of bulimia is a 10-15lb fluctuating weight loss/gain?
People with Bulimia often fluctuate with their weight. They may go through periods of binging and puringing that results in weight gain or loss, they may then try to compenstate for this by restriciting their calories or overexercising. Bulimia is characterised by binging and puring atleast twice a week for more than a month i think. In between binges, they often eat a relatively normal diet. Some people with bulima can fluctuate with their weight around 10-15lbs depending on what behaviours they are engaging in.
I hope this helps

Sometimes... in my experience, most of the people with bulimia that I know do not eat normally when not binging/purging. Usually their eating tends to be restrictive; low fat, low carb, uber-healthy, dieting behaviour. Many people with bulimia have a short list of "safe foods" they feel they can eat without binging and purging, and lots of forbidden foods they would never eat except while binging. Purging also often accompanies anorexia. I guess I would say that even if the eating is normal (whilst not b/p) the thoughts that accompany eating are not.
But yes, like kayeanne says the weight of a bulimia sufferer often fluctuates due to chaotic eating; binging, purging, dieting, fasting, starving, over-exercising, diuretic and laxative abuse and the rest.

Does their weight fluctuate in terms of real poundage due to fat gains, or is the 10-15 lbs mainly water weight?

Why are you asking? If you have bulimia, you need to seek help for it and take steps towards recovery. Your weight is not important compared to the damage this disease can cause.
ETA: I see from your other posts that you do have bulimia. Please remember these forums are only for people in active recovery. If you are not actively trying to recover, please do not post.
